Mishra, who last made the thought provoking Hazaron Khwaishen Aisi, will direct Vidya and his favourite actor Shiney Ahuja in Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan.
The film produced by Prakash Jha , is based on the life and struggle of an actress and a writer from the Hindi film industry. Vidya will play the role of the actress opposite Ahuja in the film.
"It is my tribute to the cinema of the 50s when legendary film-makers like Guru Dutt came out with the most memorable classics. The era also saw the emergence of some great writers," reports quote Mishra, adding that the film is not particularly inspired from the life story of any particular actor.
"All the same I do know a lot of writers and actors who have had to slog it out the hard way to make a mark in their careers," he added.
It is rumored that Mishra was initially considering the idea of casting Chitrangada Singh for the role of the actress but Mishra maintained that the subject of the film was conceived for Vidya only after Chitrangada took a decision to quit films. "The film began to take shape only one and a half months after she left. Vidya was always my first choice for the classic role," he revealed.
Unlike Hazaron Khwaishen Aisi, this one will be made in chaste Hindi, rather as Mishra placed it, "chaste Hindustani with the richness of Urdu literature and lyrics thrown in. There's also a lot of lyrical value to it besides poetry that was so characteristic of that era," he said.
