Hanuman Jayanti, is observed twice annually in the Hindu calendar. The 14th or chaturdashi day in the dark fortnight of the Kartik month (also the day before Divali is observed) is recognised as the day when Hanumanji manifested as the son of Anjani.
The second observance is on the Chaitra Poornima or the Full Moon Day of the month of Chaitra (March-April).
According to Raamaayan Kathaa, it was on this day that Shree Hanumanji acquired powers from Devi Maataa, Indra and other forms of divinity.
This Hanuman Jayanti, well-known, to Hindus everywhere, this follows the extremely auspicious, nine-day period of Nav Raatri, the period of worshipping the Divine Mother. Hanuman Jayanti is also preceded by Raam Navami , the manifestation of Prabhu Sri Raam.
This is indeed quite interesting as Sri Hanumanjii's the most faithful and most noble devotee of Sri Raam, portrayed in the form of a monkey,
Sri Hanumanji ,the mind principle, teaches us that we must be steadfast in our resolve, dedicated and stable-minded, much unlike the monkey itself which is very fickle or'chanchal'.
Bhagwan Sri Hanuman is known by many names:
Mahaveer - the very brave one,
Kapeeshwara - king of the monkeys,
Bajrangbali -strong as thunderbolt,
Raam Bhakta -devotee of Shri Raam,
Anjanie Suta - son of Anjani,
Pawan Putra - son of the wind,
Raamdoot - servant of Shri Raam,
Maaruti -
son of the wind, amongst countless others.
Shri Tulsidas describes glowingly the exploits of this powerful messenger of the Lord, including his one-pointed focus as he overcame every obstacle that threatened his mission of serving his master, Shri Raam, and the unbounded success that resulted from unwavering and un-bounded love and service to theLord Shri Raama
Indeed, the strength and wisdom displayed by Hanumanji as he helped Shri Raam to destroy unrightousness, champion the cause of the holy ones and restore righteousness, is second to none
As a servant, He remained ever devoted to His Master's feet.
The recitation of the Hanuman Chaaleesa, Sundar Kaand and various stotras, is performed on this auspicious day as devotees praise the Lord, who is also known as Ekadas-Rudra the eleventh form of Lord Shiva.
The Spiritual Significance of Hanuman
The goal of all mystical yearning is union of the individual soul with the universal soul. In the Adhyatma ('spiritual') Ramayana, a Sanskrit text dating from the fourteenth or fifteenth century, Sita represents the individual (jiva-atma), which has separated from the universal (param-atma) symbolized by Rama. In a beautiful interpretation, Hanuman here is said to personify bhakti, which annihilates the 'ahankara' or ego (Ravana), and re-unites the two.
The Enduring Relevance of Hanuman
In Hindu symbolism, a monkey signifies the human mind, which is ever restless and never still. This monkey-mind happens to be the only thing over which man has absolute control We cannot control the world around us but we can control and tame our mind by ardent discipline. We cannotcontrol all aspects of our life but we can choose the way we respond to it.
Hanuman, when he was a child, was tempted by the sun and he rushed towards it thinking it to be a delectable fruit. On his way however, he was distracted by the planet Rahu and changed his path.
Thus Hanuman is the temperamental human intellect, which is unquiet and excitable.
It is only by diverting it to the path of pure bhakti (devotion), that it can be made aware of its profound and silent essence.
According to the Hindu point of view, there is no objective world 'out there.'
The whole manifested world is a subjective phenomenon created by our own selves. We,as humans have the unique ability to condition our minds.
In other words, we have the power to change the way we perceive life.
By changing our perceptions of life, we have the power of changing our world. When Hanuman enters Rama's life, he changes Rama's world.
He transforms a crisis (the loss of Sita) into an opportunity (rid the world of Ravana). He transforms a victim into a hero.
Thus, Hanuman is no ordinary monkey. While embarking on the search for Sita Ma, the monkeys were confronted by the vast ocean lying between them and Lanka. They wondered how they would make their way across this mighty obstacle.
Someone suggested that Hanuman jump and cross over the sea. But Hanuman was doubtful, "I cannot do that," he said. At that moment, one of his companions reminded Hanuman of the awesome powers lying dormant within him.
Instantly Hanuman regained memory of his divine strength and he successfully leaped across the ocean.
Thus our mind too needs to be reminded of its divine potential and of the fact that it can achieve phenomenal heights provided it believes in its ability to perform the task in question.
Truly Hanuman is symbolic of the perfect mind, and embodies the highest potential it can achieve !
Extensive puja preparations are made for the observance of Hanuman Jayanti by His devotees.
Locally, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated with much joy and celebration and devotees begin the day quite early
Red is usually the colour associated with this form of the Lord, symbolising unbounded strength, conviction and vitality.
On this auspicious day, devotees busy themselves in gathering the favourite Prasad of Sri Hanu-manji
Needless to say, Hanuman Jayanti is a much-anticipated event on the Hindu calendar.

Auntie, I opened this post to wish somebody a happy birthday... but😲
What a post auntie... I really loved to read it, I love charator dissection... dessecting them to know what I can find , how can i relate.. and this is one such post, love it and keep on discussing.. but i will hold the STOP sign myself..
Hanuman, Anjaneyan. fascinated me with . and came across Him many times.. but the way you analysed His action with human nature is somehting new to me, I mean, i never given any stress to that, and it is really a mind opener..
we have the power to change the way we perceive life.
By changing our perceptions of life, we have the power of changing our world. When Hanuman enters Rama's life, he changes Rama's world.
He transforms a crisis (the loss of Sita) into an opportunity (rid the world of Ravana). He transforms a victim into a hero.
and also the way somebody reminding Him of His powers...
Even He went to get the Sanjeevini aushadh for Lekshman.. wiht that quickness.. yes Ram needed Him with each step even after the victory..
also what a beautiful summary of Whole Ramayan ..
In the Adhyatma ('spiritual') Ramayana, a Sanskrit text dating from the fourteenth or fifteenth century, Sita represents the individual (jiva-atma), which has separated from the universal (param-atma) symbolized by Rama. In a beautiful interpretation, Hanuman here is said to personify bhakti, which annihilates the 'ahankara' or ego (Ravana), and re-unites the two
Thank you auntie for posting such a beautiful post..
as you always say..
