Actress Kishori Shahane (Uma of Sinndoor) has turned producer. She recently launched a production house, Om The Mantra, and will begin shooting her first launch, a Marathi film called Jay Jagdamba Devi. "People from the Jagdamba temple, situated 80 kms from Ahmednagar, called us saying that they wanted a film to be made on their deity. They invited us to the temple. We (my husband, director Deepak Balraj Vij and I) went to the place, loved the environment, and returned to Mumbai determined to make the film. It will have a social message and is sure to appeal to all ages. I play the main devotee. My husband will guide me on the technical aspects of the film," she says.

In due course, Kishori intends to launch serials and films in other languages too. She is presently acting in Yeh Dil Chahe More on Star One and will also be seen in a couple of Bollywood films.
