I find Gautam's Character far removed from reality. How can a husband for say 30 yrs, who has supported Dr. K through her studies and her career, as well has fathered 3 kids, be so mean to her wife (and CVs also showed that they enjoyed a good husband/wife relationship) be suddenly so mean to her. He is not only mean to his own wife, but also a new DIL, who just came to his household because he and others in his family wanted her to be his son's wife and supported his son's almost throughout until his mom showed up. I agree most often than not, a son struggles to balance the relationship between his wife and his mother, but shouldn't we expect a little bit more from his character as a mature, experience and educated person who can balance his different relationships and maintain the needed decorum with his new DIL and his family.

For me, I am finding that CV is not balancing this character well. I guess the CV is aiming to show a rift between Dr. K and Gautam regarding Nandu in the future, but can't that be handled in a mature manner without literally destroying the very essence of the character….Just my POV…

I agree... I think the charecter isn't developed well... After 30 years of marriage, now he regrets his decision? I think he said something to that effect, the other day, and that doesn't sit well with me...
I too, get that CVs are turning all the charecters against Nandini before the whole secret unfolds, but seriously, they did a shabby work in case of Gautam... him acting all insensitive towards his daughter-in-law and his wife is totally not necessary... It just makes us audiences irritated , rather than understand his POV when the secret unfolds...

He is one of the most versatile actors from Marathi theater ... been around for 30 yrs or so..... very much capable of showing nuances of whatever character he is meant to play.... but completely wasted in this show because CVs are not using his capabilities ....

Agree with you. Very well said about the character. If anyone misses a few episodes like me they will be definitely confused as to how the character has declined in maturity and understanding.

Yes even I cant understand his character..at 1st he was all sugar coated..family oriented..sensible father who himself supported his son's decision..always stood by his wife's side n then his mother comes in n he has suddenly starts regreting his own decision..starts distrusting his wife simply becoz his own Mom finds loads of mistakes in her DIL ..this is really ridiculous...i wish they wud have handled d character in a more mature way...turning him -ve only after knowing Nandini's truth

Agree with you.....I also find the 180 degree turn by Gautam unconvincing.............when the show began, he seemed to be such a cool character......now he is acting like a spoiled boy!
Moreover the way he spoke to his wife...........choose betn me or that girl...........it seems so immature and melodramatic, not what is expected of a successfull hardheaded businessman and not to a wife with whom he has lived for more than 30 years and one whom he supported all thru those 30 years!
CVs certainly messed up with his character..........his turning against Nandini later on when he gets to know the truth would have been more believable!

For a mature, supposedly happily married person until the mother shows up, to act like a petulant child, does not sit well with Gautam's character. The switch is too sudden and unjustified.
And for an MIL to throw barbs and digging up dirt from pre-marriage and early years at the DIL after 30 years for marriage is even worse. And Gautam sits there and watches his mother humiliate the wife? I thought I read soemwhere that this was not a typical Saas-Bahu show. What is this interaction called? I know, I know, they are trying to show that Kalyani is not like her MIL (Gautam's Mom)! Big whoop!
And everyone blaming Nandini for this? If anything Prem should be the person to be blamed for acting like a child in the toy store throwing a hissy fit for the toy he wants! What has Nandini got to do with Gautam's Mom leaving in an immature, manipulative huff?
All the scenarios lack logic! Couldn't the writers come up with a better line?
Melodrama is the name of the game!

Well I agree with u .....but as humanbeings U tend to make mistakes when u are emotional and it happens between couples and when Gautham has a mom like Daadi waiting to insult Kalyani in every step......when such differences occurs between them Daadi is ready to add spice and Son's usually gets trapped and here gautham too got swayed away by his mom's words against Dr k...well happens in real lives too😉
I think Cvs want everyone to hate nandu before the secret is out....then only it makes sense and more impact for prem to support her .....rather it becomes his duty to protect her in the house first then society....well to develop Prem's charecter to a more mature and responsible man.... they changed Gautham's charec.
Well regarding Dialogues ......I felt they were not that harsh compared to regional shows(all shows when the charecters have differences or fighting on suntv specifically are 🤢......bcoz they could be cursing each other with harsh words and giving heartache to audiences.....So i love DSDV so much it is more relaxing, refreshing, romantic and entertaining❤️ and even actors don't look depressing.....which is why i love watching hindi shows more😊

With Gautam's character, they had a great opportunity to show how people are in double mind in a lot of situations. That would have been so much better than a complete about turn.....

Something like : One one hand he loves his wife so much, wants to believe in her / support her, but on the otherhand, he is not strong enough to stand up to his mom or may be even he doesn't completely disagree with his mom..... And they can show this character somewhat in the middle instead of "for or against "

I think it's still not too late, they can turn this around and make him more interesting. There is really no need for EVERYBODY to go against K and N . Hope they keep Pratham level headed.

Gauravfan, but the marriage between Gautam and Dr k has been a long time, they are not newly married - so I guess they have mature together with age and experience and have accepted each other. It seems to me the 180 degree happens with the advent of his mom, before that he was shown having a very lovable relationship with his wife. How can a man who probably knows both his mom and his wife well cahnge so suddenly, it doesn't make sense. And wasn't Prem who really wanted to get married to Nandu, is wasn't the other way round. If Prem supported his Dad decision , and not married Nandu, I doubt Dr. K could have forced Prem to go ahead with the marriage. I am looking for some amount of consistentcy, which they are not showing with this character.
I agree the Cvs are just building up the tension between different characters just to show Dr K and Prem fighting for nandu, but I wish they were a little more consistent.
I also have a issue with Dr. Kalyani. She is a mom first, how could she not listen to Nandu's past, when Govind came to tell her specifically that....being a mom she should have listened before deciding the course of action. She seems to just want to support Nandu without know the truth. In essence can anyone really support someone until she knows the truth herself as well as believes in it. I find the Characters are not well rounded.
