I only hope Abhilasha can pull it off well.There are multiple singers in this song..Chinmaye,,Maryem Tollar Kirti Sagatia and Devika Mathur.

A story behind this song....when AR RAHMAN went to visit Mecca he heard some one chanting 'maiyya maiyya' @ a long distance......rehman followed the voice and reached the place and asked that man "what's the meaning of 'maiyya maiyya'? and he replied 'water'.... Intrigued by how indian the word sounded Rehman, composed the tune and requested gulzaar saab to include 'maiyya maiyya' in between..He personally trained the Lebanese singer Maryem

The sountrack was an immense success and stayed on the top of the charts for 13 weeks

I'm sure Abhilasha's gonna do amazing.. but I can NEVER get this performance off my mind. I still remember what I was doing, where I was nd what I felt while watching this performance.. LMAO.

ya, u r right. no one i mean no one can sing maiya maiya better than mauli, abhilasha is nothing in comparison to mauli dave, mouli is mouli - its her song maiya maiya. what a great singer and performer and abhilasha!!!!!!!!!! yesterday i saw abhilash singing maiya maiya and believe me i started saying maiya maiya - ye kya hai??????? why she attempt such song which she cant sing properly!!!!!!!! nor perform??????????

Yeah, Mauli's rendition was really fabulous! I think also that girl from Little Champs sang it really well too. I forgot her name though...🤔 She won that season, I remember that! 😆 I think her name was Anamika, maybe?

yes no one can create the magic that mauli created back in 2007 with this song. i know i'm judging before hand, but now when people try to attempt this song its like i don't feel the excitement because the way mauli sung it was simply amazing!

can't wait to see abhilasha's performance though and see how much justice she does.

but it is true that mauli will always remain the queen of this song!

I think when it comes to singing..only singing Abhilasha will sing perfectly but the body language and the figure which Mauli had is difficult to produce for this song.One time hit ...Mauli was splendid in that song.

lets judge her on her own merits and lets see how well she performs.

It is not persian for water. It is arabic!! Persian for water is aab.

I my opinion, i t is better never to attempt this song in SRGMP show. Mouli Dave has rendered the song in such a superb way that it still rings in our ears. She enhanced the song by add R&B hues to the original song,. Add to that the fact that VS had judged the show when mouli sung that song in this very stage. Comparison will definitely be drawn.

IMO Maiya Maiyan by Muali was all hype bcz it was full on shouting while missing all arabic finer musical nuisances as much as possible.

this is a song where one can show the mastery of fine arabic touch, it has to be gentle and sensuous. where as Mauli went full blasting murdering the song..

mouli is mouli. she will always be remembered for maiya maiya.

maiya maiya abhilasha should have sung some songs having african dhun. it would have suited her.😆😆
