Lack of Creativity- Balaji

I have always been an ardent watcher of all of Ekta Kapoor's Love Stories ever since the days of Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai ( I love my Angad-Kripa) and I have to say ever since that serial, I have watched Kitani Mohabbat Hai and now Tere Liye, all of them seem to have a similar trend.

Small-town, middle class background girls with big dreams falls in love with big-city, high class background successful guys. TO start of with Angad a super rockstar and Kripa a small town girl dreaming to become a successful singing superstar. Similar to Kripa, Arohi is again a small town girl with a similar dream of winning singing superstar whereas her love interest is a successful businessman, Arjun. Similar to Arjun, we have Onurag a successful businessman and his love interest his best friend Taani who like Kripa and Arohi are from a middle class background aspiring to become a singer.

I am just confused as to why Ekta doesn't bring in freshness in characters. Why does she always have to revolve around innocent girls coming from small towns and dreaming to becoming a singer. Why does she always makes the guys successful and very arrogant. Isn't this a sign of lack of creativity.

Even if you compare the storylines, its also the same. I mean apart from Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai where the jail scene started before the leap, both Kitani Mohabbat Hai and Tere Liye are flashbacks being explained through the jail or mental assylum. Also first its always takraar and hatred between the protagonists which is slowly developed into love. Also the vamps of the love stories are always the parents. Why can't there be a twist or a difference.

Do you guys think that Balaji Telefilms lack creativity when it comes to characterisations and who the story is being told and portrayed. I mean don't get me wrong, I love all of their love stories and am a die hard fan of each couple (a little partial to Angad-Kripa) but I just don't see any freshness.

Anyways its just my POV that i felt to share with you all. Thanks a lot for your time and waiting to see your response 😃

With due respect to your POV but still I think tht You hv seen sumothr show 🤔
Anurag is not arrogant at all, he is just tuff frm outside or actually was coz he endured so much during his childhhod days whch made him like tht, when he needed love he was sent into a different worldf where thr was no1 fr him, away frm his prents, away frm his frnds and home, he cried fr years but ultimately tears dried up and shrievled him into a shell.
He is man who lioves fr love and frndship, there is no limit fr him whn it comes to his best frndf, he can transcend any fr taani.
The man who is ready to end himself if tht satisfies the woman who brought him up, who loved him more thn her own children.
Thats Anurag, our Onu whch has not been created bfr ever
Jail shot was there in KYPH, i hv never seen tht kind of Jail shot we got in TL fr kids, coz wht i saw was always Kripa used to land him up in jail and tht was not the case here, he was in jail coz of her but fr her.
KYPH had a dfrnt concept, whr she was in love wth er idol who was a rockstar but here its all about frndshoip transforiming into love and onu's realisation.
Here it is just love and nthng else, no takraar, both do things just fr Tere Liye
but herer girl is not the one who endures everythng n says nthng, she is grl who gets hurt thn show it to the person who gve him, she is not a grl who sits in a corner with her memories, she is girl who moved on but with love in her heart
she agrees to marry not coz out of any revenge or to show, she agreed fr the boy and his happiness
tht makes the dfrnce

i think the whole situation is different here except that Taani's from a middle class family and she aspires to be a singer, also Anurag, a successful businessman ...Anurag's character is totally a new one in the history of BT i guess..never before have u seen the male protagonist in love with another girl..it's either a flirt or the character is not in love at all..Taani's love for Anurag is not similar..she's married to him and has waited for him 8yrs..there is no takrar then pyar..it's abt Anurag's realisation of real love ..even if u go by some similarities, the treatment is totally different ...that makes it unique and fresh

even i think the same
bcoz BT's shows are allmost equal
but not TL
bcoz anurag is completely different from BT's
previous hero's
bcoz he is not loving the heroin like the previous shows
and he is not at all arrogant
he is having some angry in his life
bcoz of the situations he faced in his childhood

Very well stated. It is the same ole same, I truly thought that Tere Liye would have a different touch, Ekta when launching this Soap she said it reflected parts of her, very sad about Anu and Tani, my heart goes out to her character, I loved Harshad as Prem and I love him as Anu to but I am leaning more towards Tani in this soap. To many story lines on the one track, Creatives are lacking imagination, they forget that the audience have diversified, no longer are we the stay at home absorbing ourselves with the "nothing to do attitude", we are the stay at home audience by choice, taking care of our Family, we are college graduates, we are corporate. With such a broad reaching, the Creatives lack imagination when taking a story forward.
If you are going to portray Good and Evil, what is the message, one would think Good triumphs Evil, somehow, Evil is so glorified, the scripts are for most part of the story, in the end we finally see some closure, never the consequences for one who chooses to choose evil. The message would be to portray the consequences of poor choices, instead we see " I'm sorry please forgive me" and All is Well, like I said, the same ole same, wish for different approaches, They at Ballagi have the Platform to make a difference, address the issues and remember your audience, we are not stupid. Your points are well taken.

Yes, Tere Liye is different and I agree with what you have said. It very well put.

When I meant creativity, I was just trying to point out that when characters are created by Balaji why do all of them have to have the same attitude or dreams. Kripa, Arohi and Taani all share the same dreams, can't they have a different dream. Also why is it always that a girl has to come from a middle-class background. Can't she for a change come from a elite background. Love stories characters according to me should be unique and stand out. And characters such as Kripa, Arohi, Taani, Angad, Arjun and Onurag all are similar to a great extent in terms of their innocence, behaviour. Shouldn't characters be varied??? So that there is freshness...!!!...

Yes, the childhood love story was refreshing, but eventually it turned to be the same where the parents got in the way... Tere Liye, Kitani Mohabbat Hai and even Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai all were said to be different but eventually they all became the sail of the same sailing boat with misunderstandings created by the parents...!!!...

As for the jail scene, I was highlighting on how the stories started. I meant Arjun starting his story from a jail and Taani starting her story from a mental assylum where Onurag was first shown...

even though the stories are similar....the characters are different....(IMO) I didnt watch KYPH all the way but I saw most parts of it to understand that Kripa was a bit more like traditional BT heriones where she was submissive to societal norms and what not BUT she did manage to stay strong once her son came (right?)

same with KMH...i didnt stick through with the whole show but Arohi was shown to be a strong independant woman who didnt take crap from Arjun when he was harassing her as her boss....she stood up for herself...and I don't think Arohi was innocent.....Arohi was strong throughout (atleast from where I stopped watching)

same thing with Tani too.....Tani is different BT heroine because she is not a submissive fool...(not that I'm saying the other two were) but compared to Kripa, Arohi and Tani are more realistic...and Tani is the most realistic when comparing all three of them (so far)

I do agree that Anurag's character however is different from other BT male leads....Angad was interesting as well...but he too turned into a lover boyish role afterward (again when I stopped watching it) and so did Arjun.....right now though Onu is different because he seems to care enough for his girlfriend....whereas Arjun treated Natasha as a friend...and Angad never reciprocated feelings for Mishti or Kanak....

one thing I like about BT characters is that even though they have the same stories and backgrounds...yet somehow they are different....because Tulsi was way different from Bani.....Bani is nothing like Archana in some terms...and Arohi and Tani are different in some aspects as well (I dunno how to explain it...but maybe its the actors portrayal of these stock characters😕 but in some aspects Arohi,Tulis,Tani,Kripa,Archana,Kashish,Anjali,Prerna etc are different)

I do agree however that BT seriously needs a new character appeal...and yeah I wish they would show the female lead from being a rich family rather than middle class one...BUT Ekta has said this in her Koffe With Karan interview that she chooses these characters so they appeal to the target demographic audience which is middle class, middle aged women.....so maybe that's why the middle class appeal to each story....so I guess they're using their own hit formula so it guarantees success

BUT she has had some "hatke" characters as well....remember Kanya from Kuch Is Tara...she had such a fun appeal to her....and also Gauri from Kutumb...same funny bubbly aspect....so she can make it happen...its just because of audience and TRPs we dotn see that much often

and I've said this before too...I dont care if she recycles her own stuff...as long as she copies from her own shows...its all good😆
