First you need to analyse Dev's character based on his actions we have observed on the show. Lets look at what he has done so far....
1. He gambled away his share of Khurana inheritance and was in debt.
2. He had no intention of working for his living and was happy to live off the money the Maan was making....a basic layabout until Naintara forced him go to the office and do some work.
3. He deliberately planned with his wife to search for an innocent village girl with the specific goal of robbing not only her but her family of their money and land to pay for his debts.
4. He married an innocent girl using a false priest. If he had used a real priest...it would have been bigamy according to hindu law and punishable by a long jail sentence. Even so, the marriage was, by law, and a fraudulent crime was committed, punishable by a long jail sentence in India.
5. He again, fraudently got Geet to sign over her land. This is a crime punishable by a long jail sentence by indian law.
6. He stole all her jewellery given to her by her family. Again, a crime punishable by a jail sentence.
Now we come to his other crimes not punishable by law.
7. He slept with an innocent girl knowing he was married. This is adultery and did not even think about the consequences or how his action would affect the girl's life.
8. He drugged Geet and left her at the airport after stealing her jewellery without any support without thinking of what could happen to an innocent unwordly village girl who doesn't know about the realities of a large city.
9. He only started worrying about Geet when he found out that she was working at Khurana Constructions....and then only about what will happen if Maan finds out.
7. He backs out at the last minute of every opportunity to tell Maan the truth...which shows what a coward he is.
8. He hides behind the skirts of the women in his life (Naintara, Meera and even to some extent Dadima) and blames Naintara for what he did as it was all her idea. Why....is he a child that he obeys everything that Naintara tells him...but he does need women to hold his hand and get him out of trouble.
9. He is an out and out flirt and flirts with women throughout his life even though he is married. He thinks he can sweet talk his way with women....and no doubt...the primary reason he wants to talk to Geet is to persuade her not to tell Maan anything...not to ask for forgiveness.
Does anyone think that a character like this can have any redeeming qualities capable of feeling real guilt or remorse. No!!! He will say sorry...but in his heart...he will never really be truely sorry. He will do whatever it takes to save his a** and try to get away with everything.
He will never willingly go to jail. The only reason he is asking for forgiveness from Geet is to avoid being punished by Maan and going to jail.
