PART 1 - DM says he won't pay a penny and Megha immediately starts yelling at him. She says he can keep all his talk about nyay and panchayat, she wants her son back and the only way is if they pay the money. All the parents join her in protesting his decision.
DM tells her to shut up and says if he pays the money today then the kidnappers will start targetting more children thinking they can get money for them too and soon no kid will be safe in D'pur. Megha doesn't want to listen and says no one else will listen either.
Suddenly Manish comes in from behind and says he'll listen. He and DM have already had a talk and they both agreed that it was foolish to pay the ransom and he soothes Megha. And just like that the entire village turns to DM's side and say that he's always been right before. He promises that all the children will be returned safe and sound.
DM calls the media against the kidnapper's wishes and announces that he won;t pay a penny to the kidnappers but whoever finds the children and turns in the kidnapper will get the 80 crores ransom. The message goes across to all of India and he further promises the kidnapper that if anything happens to the children, he'll hunt them down and kill them.
Kaddu tries to protest his calling the media but DM says he's the head of the village, not just her dad and he has to think of everybody. She is waiting for him when he gets home and rips into him.
She tells him that here at least he is her dad and she can ask him questions. She says never mind Nandini who is his daughter's daughter. But think of Krishna who is his son's son. And then she says oh, he must be saving all his money for his new baby with Santu.
Baa and Moti try to interrupt but Kaddu tells them to lay off. She tells DM that she'll take care of Nandini herself. She goes to Birwa, Monghi and Suraj and asks them if they'll help her. They nod helplessly.
Finally DM has had enough and tells her to shut up. He asks when has he ever put money above people? He asks Santu to get a piece of blank paper and asks her to sign it and then signs it himself. He slams it in Kaddu's hand and tells her to fill in whatever amount she wants.
Kaddu stands there looking ashamed and crying as DM storms upstairs. Santu goes after him.
