Hey hey hey!

Who said Himesh is a good singer? 😲

Shreya just said he's not a non-singer. And I agree with her on that!

Sonu has never praised Himesh's singing - only made fun of it! Wonder where you got this certainty that Sonu likes HR's singing πŸ˜•

Anyway. Jai Matadi and Roz-Roti to you too.

Newspaper poll reveals the top five

picture: Viral Bhayani

While a lot has been said about the sexiest people in Bollywood and the ones most searched for on the internet, a new list has now come out. It is about the most hated people in Bollywood.

A leading Indian newspaper conducted a special poll on this one.

The list was topped by Himesh Reshammiya (pictured left) with 25% votes, next was Rakhi Sawant and Ekta Kapoor, followed by Ram Gopal Varma and Vivek Oberoi.

Though Himesh scored the highest in this poll, it is Ekta Kapoor's hate club which leads with 86,860 members.

The second biggest hate club belongs to Himesh with 38,730 members.

Among the cricketers it is most shocking to see the size of M.S. Dhoni's hate club, which has 23,000 members. How come this popular cricketer made it to the hate list? People feel his attitude towards cricketers Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly was not good.

And let's talk about Shah Rukh Khan. His hate-love ratio is 1:100. While his hate club has 4000 members, his love group has 400,000! He is the only one with this kind of ratio, beating everyone in Bollywood!

We held the Most Popular Actor Poll not too long ago and after a bit of controversy, loads of arguments, debates and discussions.. not to mentioned votes (3691 of them), we finally have the results of the voting that ended on the 1st of December 2009.

Starting with the least popular to the most..

10) Abhishek Bachchan – With 2% votes, its hard to understand exactly what went wrong with Abhishek Bachchan's career. Was it the wrong selection of scripts, the lack of screen presence, the expectations of being the son of a legendary actor or was it purely bad luck? The talent was always there and even after fabulous performances in Guru, Yuva, Dostana.. the actor is yet to make it to the big league.

9) Saif Ali Khan (2% votes) – Over the years, Saif has shown tremendous improvements as an actor and is currently one of the better actors in the industry with special performances in films like Dil Chahta hai and Omkara. Yet Saif is yet to receive the mass-acceptance that he truly deserves.

8) Ranbir Kapoor (4% votes) – This man is improving with each film and the box office is a clear indication of the same. He has literally carried Wake Up Sid and the super-hit Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with fabulous performances. A superstar in the making!

7) Shahid Kapoor (4% votes) – Has been in the industry for a much longer period than Ranbir Kapoor and its only post the super success of Vivaah and Jab We Met that Shahid Kapoor has shown signs of making it to the top league. Can he get there?

6) Amitabh Bachchan (5% votes) – If this very poll was held a couple of weeks later, Big B would have proved to be tough competition to the Top 5. An outstanding performance in Paa is certain to be yet another feather in the cap of this living legend!

5) Akshay Kumar (11% votes) – 'Is Akshay Kumar going the Govinda way?' Is one of the most discussed topics today. With 4 failures (by his standards) and with the 5th one unlikely to give him his much needed HIT, Akshay Kumar comes in at No 5 with 11% of votes.  Can he put the 2009 nightmare behind him and come up with better in 2010? We hope he does..!

4) Hrithik Roshan (14% votes) – Once written off as a one film wonder, Hrithik has bounced back and how! Koi Mil Gaya resurrected his career, then came Lakshya a performance which received universal acclaim.. from then on there was no looking back – Krrish (blockbuster), Dhoom 2 (blockbuster) and Jodha Akbar (superhit) all rocked the box office and with the line up of upcoming films with the best of directors, Hrithik's future looks bright.

3) Aamir Khan (16% votes) – Everything that Aamir Khan touches turns into gold.. Right from acting which he was always good at for the best part of the last 20 years, to direction which he took up with Taare Zameen Par, to the products he endorses, Aamir adds immense value to everything he lends his name to. Ghajini is the biggest blockbuster in the history of the film industry and 3 Idiots should be the biggest hit of the year.

2) Shahrukh Khan (34% votes) – The most loved and hated star of our generation, SRK's success ratio this decade remains unmatched for the number of films he has done. Overseas he is the undisputed king and while the year 2009 saw him in a special appearance the movie failed to work with the audience. All eyes now are on My Name Is Khan, which has a huge mount to climb with Fox acquiring the world wide rights for a whopping 100 crores! Note – The link to this page was posted on some of the actor's fan sites.

1) Salman Khan (46% votes) – The best way to guage this Khan's super popularity with the masses is to go over to some of the smaller towns and villages.. You would find his posters pastered all over buildings, rickshaws, lorries and buses. Yes, he's that popular… His television show 10 Ka Dum and most recent box office super-hit Wanted too has helped increase Salman's popularity the world over. Failures at the box office, strangely never seem to affect him.. with crowds outside his house in Bandra increasing by the day! Note – Link to this page was posted on Salman Khan's facebook fan page

The point was making fun of someone's style doesn't mean they think he is bad. I used SRK as an example.

Aap Kaa Surroor has the biggest opening of 2007

Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Kaa Surroor  has got the biggest opening of the year at the box office.

The critics had panned the film and wrote it off, but the moviegoers had something else in mind. AKS beat down Awarapan and Apne at the box office by getting a bumper opening in the first 3 days.

"The film has opened to a huge response at the box office, with collections varying from 95-100 percent. It is true from East to West and from North to South," said trade analyst, Taran Adarsh.

"AKS has got a bigger opening than Shootout At Lokhandwala and in fact, in some centers AKS has an opening that is at par with the two biggest hits of last year, Dhoom 2 and Krrish," added Adarsh.

Himesh's debut film, Surroor was released on June 29. The star played himself in the film, with former child actress Hansika Motwani debuting as a heroine and Mallika Sherawat in a special appearance.

Analysts feel the film worked compared to simultaneous releases Apne and Awarapan because of the brilliant marketing strategy by Himesh, and the curiosity factor generated among moviegoers.

"Himesh's video albums were always rocking for the masses, and they always loved it. He has a kind of aura for his fans. No wonder, when he first appeared on the big screen there was a huge curiosity and people wanted to see him. The marketing of the film and the promos too appeal to audiences, and therefore it got a bumper opening," said trade analyst Vinod Mirani.

"Apne at the moment is a semi-hit in North India, and has done an average business all over India. However, Awarapan has lost badly in the race and has not picked up well at the box office," added Mirani.

Interestingly, Himesh also disproved the myth that he was a singer for only the masses -- the film's done well among the higher-in come audiences as well.

"We ourselves were shocked to see the huge response for the film," said a senior manager of a New Delhi multiplex.

"The curiosity was too much and everyone wanted to see how Himesh acted, and therefore I guess the film worked for the first weekend," he added.

Said Komal Nahta, also a Bollywood trade analyst, "Every distributor will recover his money in 3 days time, and the film is doing excellent in all centers."

Nahta further tellingly concluded, "Aap Kaa Surroor has done well just like Yash Chopra or Karan Johar films do well, but with Himesh as the actor."

Who are the current music directors who you guys really like?
Loy: A.R. Rehman, because he redefined a lot of things. Vishal-Shekhar are doing a really good job.
Ehsaan: Off course A.R. Rehman. Top of the line no doubt! I like Vishal-Shekhar too because their background is the same like us and their music is well composed. Then I think Sandesh Sandhaliya has done some good stuff as well. I love what he did for Chameli. Have to compliment Himesh. If we have 2 hits a year he has 20. Jatin- Lalit though not together anymore did some great work as well.

sonu interview...

Q: What do you feel about Himesh Reshammiya's sudden success as a singer?

A: It's easy to criticise someone for singing through his nose. Who sets the rules for how a song should be sung? Times are changing. Different voices are coming and being accepted. With Himesh at least a distinctive voice from within the country has found acceptance.

Otherwise we've lately had strange voices from outside, no matter how besura, becoming successful. Pataa nahin kyon ! Why do we give so much importance to voices from outside? Stars dine with them, feature in their bloody music videos. They wouldn't do the same for me or any Indian singer.

Q: What did you think of all the singers who have come from Pakistan?
A: A few were good. But most of them were strictly okay. In a country that has witnessed Lata Mangeshkar and Mohd Rafi who wants these voices? I'm glad to see an Indianβ€”Himeshβ€”getting the popular awards to someone from our country who's very smartly patented the style from another country (Pakistan).
