i loved uchcha dar babe nanak da. actually alot of the older punjabi films were good. especially when veerendra was the hero and the young gurdas maan came in a few movies such as mamla garbar hai etc.
after veerendra died punjabi films went down hill. however, thanks to manmohan singh and harbhajan maan punjabi films are now back from the dumps.
i'm not too big a fan of harbhajan maan films.....or maybe its him as the hero...but i will give credit where its due and he did bring people's confidence back up in punjabi films. it all started with jee ayan nu.
oh another film that i really like.....des hoya pardes. that movie made me cry. i heard it was supposed to be a true story...anyone know?

No mithijalebi , majority says Punjabi Cinema is reviving again since Jee Aaya Nu but Truth is that it is happening since the movie Shaheed-E-Mohabbat Boota Singh( released in 1999) of Gurdas Maan but its Harbhajan Maan who always takes the credit but its actually Gurdas Maan

anyways i have no idea abt Des Hoya Pardes but possible can be a true story.....but it was really a good movie

Des Hoya Pardes is based on true events that happened during the 1980s in Punjab. I think b/c it was based on true events I have never been able to watch this movie again. I cried so much after watching it ji. Here is an interview by Gurdas Maan where he talks about the film
I agree with the post above that it is Gurdas Maan who has revived Punjabi cinema, not Harbhajan Maan. I am not an adherent Punjabi movie watcher, but I have liked some a lot.
I loved the movie Bhangra, it was my very first Punjabi movie. Bhati bhaal ke vareneye uthe rakh di aa, kahin phul na jaye chan mera.
I have also loved Nanak Naam Jaahaaz, Ucha Daar Babe Nanak Da, Bhagat Dhana Jatt, Nanak Dukhiya Sab Sansar, and Dukh Phanjan Tera Naa.
Please excuse my spelling mistakes ji-)

maybe gurdas maan initally gave the industry the push with his movie, but i think after jee ayan nu is when people started realizing that punjabi films could also be money making ventures. from what i recall it was after jee ayan nu that i started to see an increase in punajbi movies being produced. anyways, lets agree to disagree on that one. 😛 i do prefer gurdas maan as an actor over harbhajan maan any day.

des hoya pardes...i think it was actually one specific man's story. i remember gurdas maan on des pardes discussing it.
bhangra was a good movie with some awesome songs. there was a black and white movie called kankan de ohle ohle with dharmender in it...anyone watch it.

OMGGGGGG Mel Karade Rabba looks AMAZINGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh I am so excited to see it.
Damn, Gippy looks so friggin HOTTTTTTTTT why can't he get the girl, Jimmy (though I love you) always gets the girl😆
But, I wish they had chosen a different girl, something about Neeru always irks me, Punjab has so many beautiful kuddian, I am sick of Neeru yaar.
But, I can't get over how good Gippy looks, I remember when his song "Galli ch manja da ke" came out he looked yummy!!

So with you on the Neeruu thing.. i haven't watched anything with her as the lead..

she went to school with my cousins in canada... and they cant stand her face..😆😆... trust me it wasn't jealousy .. these girls are like 1000 times prettier then Neeru sheeru.. they call her a "parrot nose"..🤣
