My father's entire family has studied in Corporation schools (to be precise, the one in Nungambakkam) and two of his brothers have recently retired as Professors in Universities in the US, he and two other brothers retired as Senior Central Government officers, and one brother was a lawyer and another one a chemical engineer!

I am not taking sides on which schools are better, just wanted to mention, it is the same across the board. Finally it is left to the child to be motivated and learn for the sake of knowledge and learning and not exclusively for those exams !

I studied in private schools and college and can give you umpteen examples of teachers, professors goofing up English..from their pronounciations to grave grammatical errors, they were aplenty.
