Why Aren't Actors Credited??

Hi guys,
Guys...this topic is not only related to LNMDJ, but all the Indian Telly shows in general. 😊
Guys, i don't understand one thing, that why aren't actors names come in the credit roll? ......When an episode starts, the names of Director, Producer, etc. come, but never of actors!.....Why????😕......After the episode ends, then too actors names don't come, unlike a few years back, when after an episode ended, a credit roll came showing the names of all cast and crew😊.......but now only crew members' names come, not of actors!....guys, don't u feel it's sorta unfair?!.....I mean, just like the crew of any show, the cast too is equally a part of the show....they do equal hard work.....spend equal amount of time on the sets.....but their names are neither shown at the start of the show, nor at the end of it!!!!😳...........I agree that actors have other resources to make their names known like media interviews and all....but still, i feel that as the show is their job, just like for the crew of that show...and so despite of having or not having other sources to make their names known, actors name should definitely come in the credit roll.........

Guys, as this is a social networking site related to shows, so i thought it's the right place to raise this issue😊....and ya, i should also inform u all that even actors are not happy with their names not coming in the credit block, as i read in an article related to this few yrs back in TOI ........all actors were unhappy with this decision of stripping off the show's title song which showed the names of all the cast and crew.........But Producers had different POV...they said that as on showing the shows' title song, a good 2-3 minutes time goes in to it and then the actual episode showing time decreases..that's why this decision was implemented..........
.......but guys, i honestly feel that actors names shoud also be shown...if not at the start of the episode, then when the episode is going to end, then they should again show the credit roll which now has the names of all the actors of the show😊........and genuinly, the credit block does not occupy so much of the screen space that we would feel inconvinience in watching the scene being shown at that time😊😳........
So guys, what's your view about it??😊........

EDIT: Guys, please don't think that am trying to take away the due credit from the crew ppl and give all the credit to actors😊......I empathise with the crew members completely 'coz i know that under what conditions they work😳....so they have all credit for it and they are credited too for it..😊😊....But what am trying to say is that, actors too should be given their due credit.😊.....Just 'coz actors are more affluent and more influential, doesn't entitle them being sidelined!!.😊......They are more affluent and more influential 'coz they also do that much hard work.😳...so, without having a biased thought, i really feel that their names too should be included in the credit roll.😊...and please note that i used the word- 'too'...this implies that am not saying that crew members should not be named, rather am saying that actors too should be named along with them....😊

Krishy , a great post👏

Okay i think it would be great if the actors' name was shown..

But i also understand the reasons, why it is not..

Earlier in the good old days there were not many ad breaks and the competition was almost nil, so the entire cast and crews' used to be included..

Nowadays the competition is very tough and that is an understatement.

If u notice a 30 minutes show only has about 20-22 minutes of the actual serial rest are taken up by the ads AND other promos.

Ads are needed for the production house as well as channel to judge the serial's profitability, Maybe not the best criteria to judge how good a serial is quality wise, but it is a fact...

Now if the actors name is included, you think we will actually pay attention to it if the serial has begun, how many of us pay attention to the names of crew of LNMDJ that is being shown while we watch the show? Not many, it is really the rare case we do..

If it is shown at the end, then the moment the serial ends, we are going to flip the channels anyway,

So the channels give us the precap, tell me honestly u think we will pay attention to the cast's name then, we would be far more interested in seeing what is coming up?

So IMHO, it really does not make that much of a difference if the actors' name is shown or not (it would be great if they fit it in somehow, but for me that is not an issue)..

And one more thing, if the show gets popular, who gets more prominence, The actors right, they are the face of the show..

So even if u dont know the actors name, it is quite easy to find out..

Think about the editors, the set directors, the assistant directors and so on.. They are an integral part of the show and have equal contribution in the success of a serial, do we take efforts to find out their names?

Frankly most of us dont and it is not something to feel bad or guilty about either.

After all their job is to be behind the scenes and in their field of work it is an accepted fact..

Furthermore, by showing the crew's name who will remain faceless till the show ends, atleast that particular person gets some form of visibility which will help him or her to gain more popularity and visibility for future jobs as well...

There was a beautiful post in MJHT Forum by Ganesh Hegde on what goes on behind the making of a serial and how about 70 odd people work behind the scenes to get one single shot perfect for us the viewers,

If these unsung heroes finally get a chance to be recognized by giving them priority over the actors, dont u think it is not that bad?

Excellent point! I hadn't thought about it but although I see Shwetha's point, I think they should at least ahve a quick mention of cast.
Bit unfair, yes.

I agree with shwetha to great extents. Competition has increased a lot. For the production house, promos r very important (not saying the actors rnt). For the whole episode, whether tha name of the actor is shown or not, they r the ones who occupy the space for 20-22mins. They r faces of the serial. And when a serial gets hit, its the actors that become famous. Pple may say that how come other unit members names r shown? This is because they put in a lot of efforts for the show to air on TV. Actors only come in after months of preparations of the serial is done.

I hope u understand what I said.😊

Shwetha....i agree with u completely😊.......but dear, am not saying that crew members should not be given the importance they deserve.😳..rather i empathise with them completely.😳😳....i had read that GH post in MJHT Forum, and i know now how much pain the crew takes😳😳..........but dear, my question is that shouldn't actors names too come in the credit roll?.😊.......Crew members names toh should deffo. be there.😃.....'coz at the end of the day, every scene shot and done well is majorly 'coz of them😃....but actors too should be given credit!😊.........Actually am emphasising that both of them should be given credit.😳😳...but here we can see visibly the partiality being done to actors.....Shwetha, just 'coz these actors are more influential and more recognised than the crew members, doesn't entitle them being sidelined!!😊........Actually dear, if u would have read that interview na, 'bout which i mentioned, u would have genuinly felt that actors are not given their due!.........So Shwetha, i completely agree with what u said, but i also wish actors being included in credit roll too!😊

Ya...i understand ur point completely..😊.....but just think if a show is not hit, then??.......Then won't it effect the actor's reputation?....Would he/she become popular?......
.Crew members names toh is phir bhi there, but actors ka toh naam bhi nahi ata hai......this way toh actors benefit from a non-hit show will be 0%, despite him/her giving it his/her 100%.......So Sistu, just think it otherwise and then u will realise what am trying to say...😊....And anyways, am not at all saying that crew members should not be given their due..😳😳..i empathise with them completely.😳😳...but along with them, actors shouldn't be sidelined!😊

Oh no Shwetha😳....no need to be sorry dear.😳....
and ya, their names can be included during precap time...😊.....actually it's all a matter of formality...😉..as u said, none of us make an effort to see the names of the crew members coming at the bottom of the screen while the show is on😉😆.......nevertheless, just showing their names makes it official that they are being given their due.😳....similarly, actors names can be show during precap time..and genuinly we won't see even their name.😆😉...i know that.😆😆.....but still, at least that will make it official that they are being given their due!.😳......So it's all a matter of formality!.😊😳....
