NDTV Imagine presents 'Tyohaar Ki Bahaar'

A special event celebrating India's favourite festivals; featuring TV's favourite artists! Tune in from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Sunday, June 22nd, 2008 only on NDTV IMAGINE

This Sunday, join in the festivities as NDTV Imagine presents 'Tyohaar Ki Bahaar', a special television event to celebrate the best of Indian Festivals. Tyohaar Ki Bahaar will feature on-stage performances by television's favourite artists such Shweta Tiwari, Eijaz Khan, Naman Shaw, Surveen Chawla, Chaitanya Chaudhary, Megha Gupta, Krishna and Ketki. This two hour special, to be aired at 8:30 pm, on June 22, takes viewers on an exciting and enlightening journey through the colorful festivals celebrated across this cultural rainbow called India.

'Tyohaar Ki Bahaar' will feature song and dance performances by television's leading stars on songs that have become symbolic to the celebrations during these festivals. Naman and Megha will kick start the event with an energetic performance on the song Rang De Basanti commemorating the 'Yellow' festival 'Basant Panchami', the Hindu festival traditionally celebrated on the first day of spring. The 'Yellow' festival is marked with people usually wearing yellow garments, Saraswati worshippers dressed in yellow and yellow sweets being consumed within the families.

On Sankranti, the Gujarati's offer thousands of their colorful oblations in the form of beautiful kites all over the skyline with great devotion, fervour and gaiety. Surveen and Chaitanya will perform on Kaipoche, a song that best depicts the festival. The festivities get in to full swing with Krishna, Shweta and Eijaz raising the tempo to celebrate Baisakhi, a festival that marks the harvest season in North India. The trio will bring forth the Punjabi spirit through songs like Balle Balle, Tere Roop Di Gori Balle Balle and Nagada Nagada.

The artists will pay their reverence to the Gods with a well compiled feature on Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmasthmi. Naman, Megha, Chaitanya and Surveen will dance to celebrate the respective days when Lord Ganesha and Lord Krishna bestowed their presence on the earth for all their devotees. The Navratri or the nine nights of worshipping nine forms of Shakti (Metaphor for Goddess Durga) is celebrated with vigour and fervour in all parts of the country particularly in Western India. Ketki and Krishna will groove to the Dandiya beats on songs like Chalo Dheere Dheere, Odhni Odhu To Udi Udi Jaye, Aayo Re Mahro Dholna and Halo Sambho

Durga Puja, the largest Hindu festival in Bengal, is celebrated over the preceding nine days of Navaratri. The festival is traditionally viewed as the coming of the married daughter, Durga, to her father, Himalaya's home. Eijaz, Shweta and Ketki will dance to some of the big Hindi film hits like Maa Sheravali, Dola re Dola and Jai Ma Kali dedicated to the Goddess.

Eijaz and Krishna will conclude the revelries for the night with an enthralling performance celebrating the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. The two will celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr with dance performance on the recent hits Khwaja Mere Khwaja and Dekho Chand Aaya

Apart from the electrifying performances, 'Tyohaar Ki Bahaar' will also enlighten viewers about the various facts about these festivals providing various insights relating to mythology, superstitions and unknown facts.

Peace Rally at Gateway Of India

In commemoration of the 26th November terror atack, television actors have decided to conduct a peace rally at Gateway of India this evening.

26th November 2008, a day that will remain etched in the memory of Mumbaikars for years to come. It was on this day that the terrorists attacked the financial capital of India. The attack cast a gloom over the entire nation and resulted in deaths of innocent people as well as able officers of the country.

Exactly one week after the ghastly act, actors from the television fraternity have decided to conduct a rally in commemoration of the victims of the blast. They will be gathering before Gateway of India this evening. The celebrity list includes Adita Wahi, Faisal Raza Khan, Chaitanya Chaudhary, Jennifer Winget, Abhir Goswami and the entire Sangam team among others.

Speaking about the rally, Akansha says, "It will be exactly one week since the attack happened and we, as television celebrities decided to gather near Gateway of India, the place where the blasts occurred, and conduct a peace rally. My grandfather is a social activist. He was the one who called me up and suggested about conducting a peace rally, in the Mahatma Gandhi way. I have even requested my friends from Delhi to join us in the rally."

The buzz is that Aamna Sharif will also be joining the rally.

Well, its now time to stand up for the nation and spread togetherness amongst all!!

Ekta rocks them and how!

TV queen Ekta Kapoor's much awaited bash at Krishna bungalow was a blast. Apparently, a belated birthday celebration it had all the hotties from TV in Ekta Kapoor with Hiten Tejwani at a party in Bohemia attendance. Ekta true to herself made an entrance at about 1:30 am. And the place just sizzled after that, as she went around with her cocktail test tubes and forced them down her cast's and friends' throats. Until she arrived brother Tusshar made up for her absence, looking smart and clean, standing close to the bar, giving the likes of Ken Ghosh, Manish Malhotra, Urmila Matondkar, Issha Kopikar, Neelam Kothari, and Goldie Behl company. Hiten Tejwani came flexing his hairy biceps and with wife Gauri looking slim as a reed and headed straight for the drinks counter. Shabbir Ahluwalia looked sharp with his hair tucked into a peak cap (which later Ekta pulled off and tried for a moment before flopping it back on to his head). All the other Ekta regulars were in attendance: Yash and Gauri Tonk, Chaitanya Choudhary, Eijaz Khan, Anita Hassanandani, Reva Babbar (she needs to lose a few pounds), Narayani Shastri, (making a fashion statement by wearing a dress which displayed her broad hips), Ali Hassan (why has he disappeared from the screen), Manasi Verma (the graceful dancer is gradually gaining weight), Bobby Darling (she went into a clinch with Shabbir as soon as she entered Krishna), Roshni Chopra, Sanjeeda, Rakshanda Khan (she hung around with Anita, Ken, Salil Chaturvedi and a young kid who is being touted as the next biggest thing to hit film after Jaaved Akhtar), Ali Asgar (he is awaiting the release of his films), Gaurav Gera (he spent time with the affable Sony programming head Anupama Mandloi). Kiran Karmakar and his wife Rinku, Chetan Hansraj and his wife Lavina, Pawan Shankar and his gorgeous wife Yukti, Rajeev and Raakesh Paul, the prodigal Prabhat Bhattacharyya, sweet Nikhil Aryya, the chocolate pin up Naman Shah, Urvashi Dholakia, Jennifer Winget, Preeta Puri, Mushtaq, Anupam Verma, Suneeta Menon, Amit Tandon, Vikas Sethi, Sanjit Bedi, Kushal Punjabi, Aamir Ali, Hiten Paintal and Kishwar, Anoop Soni and his wife, creative director Nivedita Basu, The channels too were represented: Aparna Pandey from Zoom, Sony's Gursheel Walia, and as mentioned earlier the likeable Anupama Mondloi. Shockingly, no one senior from Star or Zee was visible to the Tellychakkar team. The senior crowd was represented Deepak Parasher, Kailash and Aarti Surendranath, Madhuri Bhatia, Dolly Thakore, Bharati Acherakar, Sushmita Mukherji, Mita Vashist, Vikram Kapadia, and singer Sapna Mukherji. The highlight of the evening was when one of the older totally sloshed TV actresses and pulled yesteryear film heroine friend's hair and asked her who she was. The film actress turned around and told her she was sick and frustrated. The altercation went on for a while close to the elevator before the older actress was sent packing home. Ekta too joined in the fun later with the film heroine and she indulged in some boisterous girlie banter. The party continued till the wee hours of the morning and when the Tellychkkar.com team left it looked like it had a lot of life in it. Ekta, you rock! Keep going!
