What does Bandini mean? I would be happy if someone would tell me what Bandin means.

The literal meaning of Bandini (as per the story here) is 'Tied' or 'Tethered'!

The word itself is derived from another hindi word, 'Bandhak' which means imprisonment.

In this context, it refers to a single girl who becomes a married woman...and is bound by her marriage and committment to someone, hence Santo is 'Bandini' to Dharamraj.

On another note, there is an old hindi classic by the same name starring Nutan, where Bandini referred to the heroine being held captured by old customs and traditions.
