Yeah, Kajol's made it entirely on her own merit even with her famous background and that's admirable. Even the Kapoor sisters, especially Karisma, had to slog it out and make through horrendous movies before she became a bonafide star. Truth is, your last name can get through the door but it won't hold the door open for you.
Minissha doesn't come from a filmi family does she? Anyone know?
And great sig Meena! They have such good chemistry together. And it wasn't even a romantic movie, imagine what it could be like it was a real love story!!!

He's a good & charming actor, but Imran Khan seems to get overshadowed when he pairs with people like Genelia, who are versatile actors and cute too. This happened in Jaane Tu. Before seeing the film, it appeared from trailers that it was Imran's film. But after seeing the movie, Genelia, though sidelined in the movie and most of the songs' footage, Genelia attracts more.
Yes, Imran has rightly said that "he would get lost" if it is Genelia.

I think his characterization was such in the movie.....he didn't necessarily get overshadowed by Genelia....her character was louder than Imran's....so on first glance, it may seem to be stand out more....but Imran i.e. Jai in the movie was a great foil for Aditi....while she was loud and kinda crazy, he was the softer, saner voice in his life and vice versa, she made his life more colorful. The same was the case to some extent in Jab We Met I thought....where Kareena i.e. Geet is the kind of character that is loud and more colorful, so she instantly grabs attention....and yet I thought Shahid made quite a mark in that movie and wasn't sidelined....the character of Aditya as well as Shahid the actor stood their own in that movie. So I think it depends on the characterization as well. For me personally, Imran didn't really get overshadowed by Genelia in JTYJN....I thought his character, although quieter than hers made its own kind of impact.

The whole story of Jaane Tu hovers around Jai...it is the story his becoming a tough guy from Mama's good child. It's he who rides the horse (this is symbolic), he who thrashes a much stronger person senseless, it is he who overcomes all barricades to reach her sweetheart in the climax of the story. Aditi actually does have scope of doing much in the film, except accompanying Jai. There is no place to express her emotions except one petty song, other emotions have come in the backdrop of her loudness.
The character of Jai Singh Rathore is bound to make more impact because the story is that, and it is of course a male dominated story (the feale role is just of a supporting one) ... and Imran has brought it out quite nicely, which is above expectation from a new comer. But still, I say hat's off to Genelia, because unless she acted superbly, there would be no female impact on the screen.
