It's pretty much common knowledge that Joseph Morgan plays one of the most complex characters on TV today. His Klaus Mikaelson proved to be a big bad on The Vampire Diaries, and we're beginning to peel back the layers and get to know him a bit more on his own show, The Originals.

But while Klaus doesn't think twice about snapping necks, draining blood, and daggering his siblings, Joseph is a bit more of a softie. This was proven for good yesterday, November 14, when the British actor, "Happy Birthday to my mum, who has been a constant source of love and support through my entire life."

We'll give you a second to recover from a sever case of the swoons... proceed.

So if this isn't the proof that Joseph is the most adorable person on Earth, we don't know what is. We just hope that his girlfriend, former TVD co-star Persia White, knows that she has a man that is more than a perfect specimen with amazing dimples " she's got a real keeper.

11 Things You Didn't Know About Joseph Morgan

If there's one thing we've learned about Joseph Morgan " and his on-screen persona of Klaus Mikaelson " it's that he can easily transition from a semi-important character on The Vampire Diaries to a leading man on The Originals.

While there are varying degrees of fangirling (and fanboying!), we thought we'd give you a jumpstart on getting to know all the details about everyone's favorite dimpled hybrid. Did we mention that he's British?

That's right, ladies. There's only one lady (besides his mum) who will be pinching those cheeks anytime soon. Joseph is currently dating Persia White, who had co-starred with him on The Vampire Diaries as Abby Bennett (Kat Graham's on-screen mom). These two are almost too adorable together.

In 2007, Joseph played William Price in the TV movie of Mansfield Parkalongside Billie Piper, who played Fanny Price. For those of you non-Whovians out there, Billie played Rose Tyler in the 2005 revival of the BBC classic Doctor Who alongside Christopher Eccleston, who played the ninth incarnation of the Time Lord.

Call him the "Original" geek. While Joseph gets to head to Comic Con and be adorable, he's a little bummed that he can't take in the sights while he's there. "The only bad thing about Comic Con is I never seem to have any time to get any comics #subtlehint," Joseph tweeted on July 17.

Joseph was actually born Joseph Martin. We've no idea why he decided to switch it up, or why he chose to go with something equally generic. What are you hiding, Mr. Morgan?

He's got an eclectic taste for tattoos. He's got a panther-like tattoo on his right bicep, birds and a feather on his left arm/chest, and a triangle on his back. Sounds perfect to us.

Back in 2012 Joseph decided to use his Twitter to help start a reading revolution. That's right, you can participate in a virtual book club with JoMo by including #bookrevolution in your tweet. And here's some advice: Joseph loves books of the supernatural genre, so if you want to win his favor, try reading any Stephen King tome or some zombie classics.

That's right, Joseph is a Harry Potter nerd. We're not quite sure our on-screen boyfriend wasn't given the part. Sure, Christian Coulson did a fine job in the role, but we still think Joseph was born to play that role.

Just like most of the cool kids on the block, Joseph is obsessed with AMC's The Walking Dead and HBO's Game of Thrones. But let's get real, who isn't?

Joseph told The Huffington Post that he and Charles Michael Davis (his co-star on The Originals) met in Los Angeles when they were in the same poker club. Not only do their on-screen personas have a crazy history, we're sure the actors themselves have had some rowdy nights as well.

Now that The Originals is up and running, we're starting to get some crossover with its origin show, The Vampire Diaries. This week, TVD's Tyler visited New Orleans and Klaus will be making his own trip back to Mystic Falls. CouldStefan (Paul Wesley) be next? Paul talked to TV Fanatic about the prospect!

Though there are no plans as of yet to have Stefan appear on The Originals, Paul seems excited about the chance. "I think there's an unresolved bromance between Stefan and Klaus that I think was really short, in my opinion," Paul said. "They really cut it short, and I thought it was very unfortunate because I think they had really cool stuff in the 1920s flashbacks, and then it was like, Bam.' It just ended. I think that they had a really interesting thing going for a minute, and for some reason the writers did not want to pursue that. So, it would be nice to do that."

Paul actually makes some good points. After listening to his argument, we are interested in seeing more Klaus/Stefan interaction at some point in the TVD-verse " though, perhaps, not until The Originals is even further grounded in its own setting and mythology. Tyler's appearance in New Orleans was helpful because not only does he have an important history with Klaus, but he is a minor enough character in the TVD-verse that his appearance on The Originalswasn't jarring or distracting. For now, we think Stefan's presence in New Orleans would be too much.

Paul expounded further on his fascination with the Klaus/Stefan dynamic. "That's what I loved about the flashbacks: I felt like they really had feelings " unsexual " for one another," said Paul. "Really, just like a strong bond. And I thought it was so interesting that he was the Big Baddie, and I hated him so much when, all of a sudden, he brought back this memory and was like, Do you remember when we were friends?' And I thought it would kind of make Stefan go over to the dark side." There's still time for Stefan's corruption, Paul! Klaus hasn't exactly been making any leaps and bounds in the redemption department...
