'Vampire Diaries'' Candice Accola engaged to the

Accola, who plays high-strung vampire Caroline Forbes in the hit CW series, shared her happy news on Instagram Wednesday.

"Cheers from the future Mr.&Mrs. Joseph Aaron King," the 26-year-old wrote, posting a pic of them embracing in some gorgeous light and flashing a spectacular sparkler on her ring finger.

"Happy... " she added with another photo of them laughing.

The Fray guitarist, 33, made sure his fans saw the announcement by also posting a close-up of his future bride and her newly adorned ring finger.

"I'm a lucky man," he wrote. Also adding a photo of a bunch of specialty cheeses with the caption "She said yes."

Pardon us, but that's so cheesy...

A rep for Accola also confirmed the engagement to The Times but could not provide any additional details.

The two appeared to be vacationing in Italy, taking in sights in Florence and the Banfi vineyard in the Brunello region of Tuscany. Accola has previously discussed the importance of traveling with a partner before deciding to get married, and it looks like she's sticking to her guns on this one.

"I don't think I could have a genuine relationship with someone who didn't love to travel and appreciate new foods," she told the Chicago Tribune in January.

"Traveling is a big part of my life, and I want to share that with the people close to me. I've dated people where we traveled horribly together and if one thing went wrong, it was horrible for them. Then I've been fortunate enough to have great traveling experiences where everything lined up and even when things went wrong, you just laughed about it. You learn so much about yourself when you're traveling with someone. It's also a huge reason why they say that you shouldn't get married to someone until you've traveled with them. Being in close confines like that for an extended period forces you to explore different sides to yourself."

The actress' newly single "Vampire Diaries" costar Nina Dobrev couldn't contain her excitement, taking to her Who Say account to share in the couple's joy and point out that she was the matchmaker.

"@CandiceAccola DYING RIGHT NOW! SO excited/thrilled/happy/hyperventilating over ur engagement! #matchmadeinheaven I mean.. #matchmadebynina," Dobrev wrote, later adding, "What colors are we thinking for the bridesmaids dresses? Because yellow isn't a good color on me.. :P haha"

Accola was previously linked to her "TVD" costar Zach Roerig, who plays small-town human Matt Donovan, but they called it quits in June 2012.
