S3E02: The Hybrid
I think this is the shortest Musings yet. And the only one without an overview.

Pack, Comrades or Minions? Does It Even Matter Anymore? They're All Dead.
I have got to admit, this made me a little sorry for Klaus. All he wants is to have people/hybrids like him. He doesn't want to be alone. This reasoning behind all of this? It humanizes him. I'm not sure I like it. It's easier to hate him when you don't know his backstory.
But it also amuses me that all his hard work is for naught. Yes, it meant that many, many, MANY people are dead. But it didn't work. It didn't work because Stefan, and Elena, and Damon, and Bonnie and all the rest of their friends resisted Klaus and tried to find a way to defy him, and managed to because they care about each other (even when they say they don't). Love conquers all? Maybe. Not really, but it's a nice sentiment.
I find it really amusing that Stefan and Klaus took ages to find the pack – and all Elena had to do was give Tyler a call. I guess it helps to have supernatural friends (rather than just enemies).
"… my brother still cannot let me die."
This is the ultimate crux of Stefan and Damon's relationship isn't it? No matter how dark they get, or how much they fight or how horrible they make each others' lives, Stefan and Damon can only exist with each other. Damon's had how many opportunities to kill Stefan? But he prefers to make Stefan miserable rather than exist without him. It may be a twisted thought, but it proves he can't live without his brother. And Stefan? Stefan killed Damon's girlfriend to prove a point, has been pushing him away, leaving a trail of bloodied bodies and mayhem behind him, but when his brother is threatened? He rips the heart out of the attacker. And then yells at Damon.
God, they're so messed up. But I love them anyway.
And then Elena somehow sensing Stefan. She never saw him, but she sensed that he was there. These two – god, sometimes I wonder if this sort of love can even exist. I mean, it has to be based off something right? There's something in the way they revolve around each other, in the way they'd do anything for each other. In the way they understand each other. Stefan understood Elena when she pushed him away for the safety of her family, and Elena understands Stefan choosing to save his brother by giving himself up. They may not like it, they may fight it like hell, but they understand one another. And this is why, someday, somehow, they will find their way back to each other. I believe this, completely, because it's so blatant in the way it's written and expressed, and if this doesn't happen, I'll have lost my faith in my interpretation skills, and the writing skills of tv shows.
