Written Update [Jot]
Now, I expected Candice Accola to be a great singer considering she put out an album and was once a backup singer for Miley Cyrus (I know, right), but lady was perfect doing 'Eternal Flame.' I woulda jumped on the stage to kiss her too! But thank goodness Matt did instead. Let's pause to swoon over Matt's unexpectedly muscly arms. Okay, back to the action.
While the gang hung out at the Mystic Grill, the Martins used their witchy powers to find Elijah. Katherine realized something was wrong when the dagger started to invisibly pull out of the guy's body, and held it down while Damon rushed downstairs and sprayed the air with fire like a badass, deadly Ghostbuster.
Turns out, real bodily harm can be inflicted on witches while they're doing their "crazy-ass psychic witch attack" stuff, and Luka actually caught fire. Am I a terrible person if my only reaction was -- verbatim, from my notes -- "oh, he's dead"? Look, I never liked the guy. He got in the way of Jeremy, and he didn't actually want to help Bonnie. We know guest stars are never too long for this world on 'The Vampire Diaries,' so I wasn't exactly distraught to see him go.
Naturally, Papa Witch went on a revenge-fueled rampage and headed straight to find and kidnap Elena at the Mystic Falls Grill, where Matt and Caroline were making out in the bathroom. (That doesn't really relate to the rampage, I just wanted to mention it.) Unfortunately, all he managed to do was explode all the lights, hurt Bonnie, then STAB MATT WITH A BROKEN BEER BOTTLE. Oh noooooo!
Katherine's increasingly flawless Elena impression came in handy when the gang lured Dr. Martin back to the Gilbert house so they could kill him. Katherine got all bitey, and Bonnie was all like "guys, you didn't have to kill him" (at least not before she could get her powers back). Actually yeah, they kinda did. TOO BAD HE WASN'T ACTUALLY DEAD and bolted upright to grab Bonnie's face in his hands before Stefan snapped his neck and killed him for real.
Back at the Grill, Caroline frantically fed Matt some of her blood when she realized he was about to die. When he came to, she gleefully realized she could now tell him the truth and she began to explain what had happened. Sadly, he believed she was a vampire -- only he remembered his sister had talked about vampires right before her death and thought Caroline was the one who killed Vicki. He panicked and recoiled from Caroline. Cliffhanger #1!
Meanwhile, Bonnie had asked Elena earlier in the night for permission to date her little bro, and the new couple was finally snuggling out in the open. Jeremy worried that Bonnie wouldn't be able to get her powers back now that Dr. Martin was dead, but she let him in on a secret: when he reached up to grab her face, he had given them back "... and something else." Cliffhanger #2!
After the gang dealt with Dr. Witch's death, the doorbell rang. Jenna, who really asserted herself tonight when she told Ric that they couldn't date unless he was open about his wife's death, opened the front door where said dead wife was standing. ISOBEL. IS. BACK. Cliffhanger #3!
