three by three by three = ?

Don't worry, I won't go into a longwinded rant, I'm merely going to pose a question - doesn't anyone think that three [read it - THREE] love triangles is WAY too much for one show? I mean, I can barely handle one in the story I'm writing - which is more like a love square or would it be quadrangle? - and that's not the point. Yes, I have a point.

My point is that this show was essentially meant to revolve around one love triangle: two brothers, and the girl they both love. Right? Everybody knew that coming into the show. That love triangle evolved into a square/quadrangle [someone tell me what to call it!] with the entrance of Kat [who is awesome, albeit very insane]. And okay, we can handle that because that's the premise of the show.

But two more love triangles? Matt/Caroline/Tyler - who I don't want happening if only because the Matt/Tyler friendship is like the only functional relationship either one of them have and considering that Tyler's made out with both Matt's sister and mom that says something. And Matt/Caroline is too cute for words and I want them to get together already! [Not to mention I want Tyler all to myself. *cough* okay, so I may have had coffee earlier which is resulting in a longer post than I thought, and one making less sense than I want. Ignore the ramblings. If you can.] So yeah. This love triangle - unnecessary. If they make Tyler and Caroline 'just friends' and find a way to bring Matt into the secret and have the three make like, the Golden Trio of TVD I think that would be so cool. It'd also bring about something that your rarely see or read about - that a boy and a girl [in this case, werewolf and vampire] can be just friends. Yes, drama is nice and all. But love triangle here? If it means Matt getting hurt, again? No thanks. Matt/Caroline FTW!

The second love triangle, again, personal bias because I think it's icky that Bonnie and her best friend's little brother might hook up - okay, everybody has insane amounts of chemistry with everybody in this show but hooking up Jer and Bonnie? It's like incest in a way. Ew. And again. If they want Jer/Bonnie, okay, I can deal with that because I love the characters individually, but what's the deal with the new character who will create another triangle? Can't they have one functional relationship in the show [besides Alaric/Jenna] where there's NO triangle? Or you know, more than the couple?

Personal preferences aside, does anybody else think it's one triangle too many? And why is it that all three triangles consist of two guys fighting over one girl?

And now, my personal biases. Read at your own risk. Don't say I didn't warn you!

And the triangles they chose! If they harm the brothers relationship even more than they already have - I will NOT be happy. I want SD to have a healthy relationship and having them fight over the same girl, again, is just ugh. Yes, it's the premise of the show - but if they ruin one or all characters to keep the triangle going, you can be sure that I will not be happy. And I want more SD scenes. *pouts* my favourite relationship in this show is the brothers' one, so as long as they get along, I don't really care who ends up with Elena. Okay, lie, I want SE to end up together, but D cannot be heartbroken about it. And if DE end up together, S can not be heartbroken either and his relationship with his brother cannot suffer. And his friendship with Elena. If they manage that - then I can deal with whatever they throw at me.

Same of the M/C/T triangle. I'd love it if they keep M/C together and have an epic M/C/T friendship and have T get another girl - especially if he never falls for Caroline. Ill-fated crush, or misplaced feelings are okay, but no love-shove here please. Matt's already lost so much, don't let him lose the girl he's in love with to his best friend, please. Of course, if the friendships remain intact, any way will be fine - the chemistry between all three is awesome. Heck, they could make it a threesome a la GG and I'd be fine. Ohh, that'd be more than fine too. And yes, I said that. No, I won't take it back. Go 'way, lemme be caffeinated and opinionated in peace.

The J/B/whatshisname triangle - okay, hasn't started 'cos new guy hasn't entered. Firstly, what's his name? Luka? Because that reminds me of Lucy, Bonnie's cousin, and I really hope they changed the name 'cos I'm going to get way confused otherwise. If it has to happen, I'd rather L/B because, as I stated about, J/B are icky to me. Yes, chemistry is awesome, and a friendship between them would be so epic - but he's her best friend's little brother, hence kinda like her little brother. *shudders*

And those are my thoughts on this whole love triangle/shape business. My opinions. If it seems like I'm bashing someone, I'm not, I'm just really on a coffee high right now and typing everything that I can think. I never even meant for this to turn into an essay but my thoughts had other ideas. Heh. So yeah, respect my opinions, I'll respect yours and tell me your thoughts on all the love mess-shapes-thingamajig going on at Mystic Falls.

Oh, and if you do reply, no shipping wars kay? We haven't ever had them at the forum and I really don't want them now. Our forum is awesome and yeah. I shall stop now.
