I get your way of thinking almas but think of klaus too. If everyone in your family kept on making fun of you because you were weak. If you had a father like mikael who only values strength.wouldn't klaus felt not part of the family.
I would have been okay with it only if klaus didn't trust her words so much. Poor guy he thought he was her favourite.
