The Proposal
"Panchi Rastogi," he said, getting down on one knee and holding out a box to her, with a gleaming diamond ring in it, "Will you marry me...and be mine...forever and ever?" There were tears in her eyes as she held out her hand to him, "Yes." He smiled and slipped the ring on her ring-finger and then stood up, still holding her hand and pressed his lips to it. He looked into her eyes then, "There is so much I want to say right now...but I think this will have to suffice..." Her eyes fluttered and closed on their own as he cupped her face and brought his lips closer to hers, "Panchi I..." She pouted just a bit. "I...bloody hell Moti! Wake up!" "Huh?"
She opened her eyes to see Ranveer's face a few inches away from hers. Blushing, she pushed him away, "What are you doing here?" "Trying to get you to wake up while you were busy doing the impression of a fish." She hit him with her pillow then as he tried to duck and promptly fell off the bed in his attempt to do so. She giggled as he got up and glared at her. "I just came to remind you that the Reunion is at 11 o' clock and that it is already 10 and you still haven't gotten out of bed, let alone being ready!" An expression of recognition dawned on her face as she remembered about their school reunion and then took in his appearance. It suited him, that tux, and he looked pretty good. There was irritation written all over his face though, "Motiii, stop stalling and go get ready. Knowing how much time you girls take, it'll be two hours before you're ready and we can go and then we'll be late and-" She sat up on her knees and pecked him on the lips. "Shut up. And get out. I won't take long." He shrugged and went out as Panchi hurried through her morning routine and got dressed.

About 15 minutes into the Reunion party...and Panchi was already miffed. Somehow, every girl she knew had a ring on her finger, even that bitch of a Ruby who being the little attention-seeker that she was, insisted upon shoving her hand in everyone's face, especially Panchi's as she showed off her expensive ring. There was nothing Panchi could do other than smile fakely, mutter a, "How nice. Congratulations," and then go off in search of her friends. It was a bit of comfort though, to see the displeasure on Ruby's face when she tried to show off her ring to Kiya who brushed it off by flashing her own 5 carat solitaire. Panchi's spirits lifted though as the party went on. It was their reunion after all; she couldn't spoil it for herself!

"Where are we going?" "Dinner, at that new Italian restaurant." "You mean that really posh place...with all those fancy candlelight dinners?" "Uh-huh." Oh...maybe...maybe her dream was coming true? Could it really be so? She was definitely hoping that it was...It had been three years since she and Ranveer had gotten into a relationship and they had been the last among their friends to do so too. It had taken a lot of time for Ranveer to finally realize that Panchi was in love with him and that he reciprocated her feelings. Not wanting to spoil their friendship of forever, it had taken an even longer time for him to tell Panchi about it and ask her to become his girlfriend...

Disappointed. She was totally disappointed. Then again, it was her own fault. Ranveer hadn't even hinted at anything and yet she had been expecting to find a ring in her glass of wine...or even in her dessert. And when these two possibilities were ruled out, she expected him to go down on one knee and propose to her. That didn't happen either and her slight anger at the Reunion was back. She was quiet the whole time in the car, she didn't reply when he wished her a good night and when he leaned in to kiss her at her doorstep, she slammed the door on his face. She sighed and turned in her bed. Now that she thought about it, it was her fault and poor Ranveer had to unnecessarily bear the brunt of her unnecessary anger. She sighed again. Really, she had a lot of apologizing to do...

It had been a week since their dinner-date fiasco and Ranveer and Panchi had kissed and made-up...literally. Currently, they were in a hot air balloon, high up in the sky. It was something Panchi had always wanted and now Ranveer had fulfilled her wish! She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes, leaning against Ranveer, his arms outstretched like hers. Everything was so still...and so peaceful...She sighed in bliss, her eyes having a dreamy look in them. "Isn't the view just spectacular, Nonu?" She felt his arm wrap around her waist and he whispered in her ear, "If you'd let go of that Titanic pose, there's something I'd like to do..." She brought her hands to her sides and he slipped a ring on her finger. Her eyes widened at the sensation and she slowly brought her hand in front of her. Sure enough, there was a ring on her ring-finger, a platinum band with a beautiful pink diamond set in it. She stared at it as Ranveer continued to whisper in her ear. She heard nothing though as her mind was too busy processing the fact that there was a ring on her finger.
It was all so surreal. She'd always thought that the feeling on being proposed would be something of the type of floating on a cloud, never imagining it to be literal in her case! "Will you marry me?" The question brought her out of her reverie and she turned to face him. "Pinch me." "Huh?" "Pinch me." He raised an eyebrow and smiled, "I could never hurt you Panchi...how about I kiss you instead?" And with that, he pressed his lips to hers in a kiss both soft and sweet, as her eyes fluttered and closed. It felt just like the time he had asked her to become his girlfriend...but this time, the sensations and the feelings were just too overwhelming. It felt good...It felt so damn good...and so much better than what she had seen in her dream. He let go of her then, a smile still playing on his lips. "Well, what say then?" "...YES!" And she flung herself on him, his arms automatically going around her. "Hey, don't fling yourself on me like that Moti," he laughed, "Else we'll go plummeting down because of our combined weights...or at least...75% of yours and 25% of mine!" She smacked his chest, "Shut up!" but she was smiling and he stopped laughing and settled for a small smile instead. "I love you..." he said softly and she could see the sincerity of his statement in his eyes and she felt all teary. No, she wouldn't cry though. She wouldn't ruin this beautiful moment and so she closed her eyes and kissed him again, his arms wrapped around her waist and hers resting against his chest.
They let go of each other just in time to view the sunset and the fading rays of the sun caught on the diamond on Panchi's ring, making it shine and shimmer. A beautiful start to a beautiful new life...
...Right, so where was I? Ah yes, S, I love you. I really, really do. I'd have just told you...but there is more that I have to say...and you know how horrible I am with expressing myself...
S, the whole of my Class 10..has been one of the very best years of my school life...all thanks to you...and my darling partner-in-crime. Since, I've already said all that I had to to her...you are left...You know...there is so much to thank you for, so much to ask you to forgive me for...and so much to be grateful for as well...
Firstly, thank you. Thank you for tolerating all of my nonsense, thank you for bearing all the pranks I played on you, thank you for being there each and every time that I needed you...and thank you...for being such a good friend to me...even though I know there must have been times when I behaved like a total bitch to you. Forgive me for that...you know how I am like when I lose my temper...
I'm sorry for getting you in trouble that day...though I still say ki its not my fault that that woman just had to make a statement like, "What if we hang from the wire..?" and I conjured up this mental-image of her hanging upside-down from a cable wire like a bat and flapping her arms *snickers* Yaar...ab isme meri kya galti hai ki she didn't notice me laughing my head off and almost about to fall off my chair and saw you smiling instead?!
Anyways, I'm grateful S, I'm indebted, for every time that you stood up for me and comforted me when I needed to be comforted the most...like that December wala matter. Haye, S, I'm going to miss you so damn much this year and the next!
Apart from all the senti stuff...I also have you to thank for that piece of wonderfully descriptive...and yet biologically incorrect writing that you gave me to read! I swear..jab bhi uske baare mein sochti hun...I burst out laughing! You know...I still think it must have been the rhodopsin...because obviously...THAT can't be purple!!! :P

Okay, people, look...to those who don't know...I'll be honest. I'm not a RaHi fan and I think RV is an insufferable prat. Likeable at times...but a prat nontheless...All of this, however, gives me no right to spoil a couple for anyone. If you think I did wrong to either/both RV and Panchi here...believe me...I had no such intention. Yes, I know both were totally OOC...but I can't help it...I've never analysed either RV or Panchi...This was, however, an honest effort on my part to do something for my friend...
Do comment though...you are free to trash this as much as you want. Call it like it is, people, absolute bullshit. I could do with a hell lot of criticism here. Did i mention I didn't proofread?
And oh God! Don't tell me my A/N's longer than my OS again??!! O.o
Anyways, my fingers are hurting now! That's it, people!
