Chapter 2
The car moved on the smooth road. It seemed like they were going through a forest because the trees on either sides of the road were tall and very thick. So many questions were forming in his mind and making him go restless but he could do nothing about them. Kiya was sitting beside him but not paying attention to him. She was listening to songs on her Ipod and typing away furiously on her cell phone. He was getting bored now.
The car turned right and the trees started to disappear. They were replaced by large grounds of grass. It didn't seem like any place he thought existed in the country. It was like a scene taken straight out from a cheesy Yash Raj film. A luxurious car moving effortlessly on a smooth road between the land of grass and approaching a big mansion in the middle of nowhere.
"What have I gotten myself into?" He mumbled to himself as the car stopped in front of the mansion. Kiya looked up from her cell when the car stopped and turned off her Ipod. Putting her things in her bag, she opened the door and got out. Following her, he got out as well and walked towards her.
She was looking at the mansion with an affectionate look. He noticed that her eyes traveled around the whole sight in front of them quickly, as if she didn't take in the sight within a few seconds it would all disappear.
Silently, she started walking towards the mansion with quick steps. KD looked around if the driver needed help with the bags but from nowhere, two other servants had joined him and were now handling the bags. Shrugging, he followed Kiya.
She stopped in the middle of the path leading to the mansion to compose herself. She didn't seem to notice KD joining her side. There was something incomprehensible in her expression.
"Chicklet?" He called out to her first time in the past 4 hours.
"Huh?" She looked at him blankly but the next second she closed her eyes and brought back that cold expression on her face again, something which was reserved for him only.
"Ummm...main yahan aa tou gaya hun but main yahan aaya kyun hun?" She raised her eyebrows at him and he just shrugged.
"Heavens KD! I thought you were smart but do I have to explain every single thing to you! Don't make me regret bringing you here!" She snapped rudely and he clenched his fist to control himself from doing something equally rude to her.
"Just stay here and mingle with everyone. No one will ask you any questions." She added, this time more calmly and looked around, searching for someone.
"K! Is that you?!"
An excited female voice came from behind them and they both turned around. A young woman had just gotten out of a car and was looking at them with a stunned expression.
"Jijji!!!" Kiya shouted and ran towards that person. KD was shocked seeing such a childish reaction by Kiya for she was someone who was always composed and in attitude.
The two females were hugging and clinging on to each other desperately. They seemed to be talking as well but KD was too far away to comprehend anything. He noticed the other girl ask Kiya something while looking at him and Kiya replied something which made the girl smile.
"Well, she is taking care of stuff." He mumbled and smiled at the strange girl. The long journey had tired him and he wanted nothing more than to just rest. But he didn't even know why he was brought here. How in the world could he act normal?
The girls were approaching him now, talking excitedly. They stopped in front of him and gave each other a meaningful glance which he did not get at all. God, he hated girls!
"Hi, I'm Juhi! The bride!" The girl extended her hand towards him which he took and shook gently while smiling.
"Oh. Congratulations!"
"Thank you!"
There was something in that girl which KD found uncomfortable. And when she started talking, he knew exactly what was bothering him. She was another one of those gossiping, chatterbox kind of girls who had no idea when to shut up. He loathed such girls the most. But he was her guest, he had no other option than to stand there listen to her go on and on about how this wedding was a grand affair and how much perfect she wanted it to be and how her husband to be was so good to her etc.
"Jijji! I'm tired. I want to rest before tonight's gathering." Kiya interrupted her and KD breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh! I'm so stupid! You tou have your usual room with me and him...he can sleep with the other boys." Juhi grinned. KD wasn't exactly happy with this arrangement but he couldn't do anything.
"No, give him a separate room. KD doesn't like sharing stuff." Kiya smiled sweetly at him while saying to Juhi. He was caught off-guard. How did she know?
"Oooh!" Juhi said dramatically and giggled.
"Oh anything for you darling!" She kissed Kiya's cheek and turned to KD. "Umm...Pratham will guide you to the rooms. Pick anyone you want." She winked at him and he just smiled sheepishly. Yup, he did not like her at all.
"Piddi bhi agaya hai kya?" Kiya asked, surprised.
"Oh yeah! Almost everyone is here. Except Ranveer. He texted that he would come in a few days."
"Is that so?" Kiya said in a small voice and KD noticed just how solemn her expression got in that one second. But the next second, she was all bright and smiling.
"Ab let's go inside!"
