Chapter 3The Savior
"It was the greatest disaster the world could have faced. Falling of the sky-scrapper was left many injured, not just physically, but emotionally too." Ms. Lucy went on with her History lecture. It didn't matter if the student were listening or not. As long as they were there, she can talk. When the bell for the lunch finally everyone ran out the room, creating a chaos in the corridors. Piddi's eyes flickered open as he felt the sudden change in the atmosphere. He stretched back and yawned.
"Yaar bhai, mujhe toh sukun ki neend milgayi!" Piddi looked at KD, who was putting away his stuff, on his left.
"Tu so nahi raha that, Bobby ke sapne dekh raha tha!" KD simply replied, not sparing him a glance. But his words undoubtedly effected Piddi, and his cheeks turned crimson.
"Woh toh -" Piddi was cut-off by another source of voice that blasted through the speakers.
"Good Morning Royal! The Royal Radio Station after a lot of struggle - and rebel - is back in action! This is Ranveer aapka favorite RJ, and today, we have a few announcements to make."
"Lo, ho gaye ohir shuru yeh!" Piddi grinned looking at the speakers. "Ab canteen mein aapke aur us Kareli ke gaane - I mean taane, nahi sunne padenge!"
KD glared at him and briskly walked out of the class, followed by a grinning Piddi.

Ranveer couldn't have been happier. His Radio Station was back. If there was anything he passionately loved, it was his microphone, and talking through that. He spoke through the walls, and no one could see him. It was his insecurities that led him to radio.
"Aryan is throwing a party at his farmhouse! Who all is going to be there? I wanna hear some noise people!" He transmitted. A roar of cheers rang out through the cafeteria that he faintly heard. "Woohooo! And that is not all it. We had Ms. Tanya Desai win the Dance..." He continued telling them everything that occurred, and later settled playing some songs. He was relaxing in his chair listening to the songs and humming along when he heard the Radio Station's door creek open. Samar almost knocked over the amplifier controller as he bent over panting.
"Woh Panchi...swimming..." Samar could barely talk. But he tried to form some words. "Woh behosh..."
That was it for Ranveer, he pushed past Samar and ran down the corridor. Running down the steep stairs, he made a beeline for the swimming arena. Why the hell would she go there? He wondered. Hadn't she experienced this enough?
When he reached the crowd, he pushed through them, and everyone let him pass without hesitation. His eyes fell on the girl breathing heavily on the ground. Bobby held Panchi in her lap and tried to sooth her. Panchi was soaking wet, her body shivering. The water had gone into her body, and she found herself unable to breath.
"Panchi!" Ranveer exclaimed and bent down next to her. The bell took the exact moment to ring, dismissing the crowd. "Kya hua! You okay?"
"Uske body mein pani chala gaya hain. Pata nahi kaise." Bobby explained. Ranveer didn't look at her, but stared at Panchi, trying to figure what to do.
"Tumhe pani mein jaane ki kya zarurat thi! Don't you know this already?" He scolded her, but his voice was caring. He placed his hands on the side of his cheeks, his face holding expression of panic and concern. "Call the nurse!" he said, and Bobby ran off to do so.
He took a deep breath and and his voice allowed to just whisper. "Close your eyes, Aankhein band karlo." And Panchi obliged.
Ranveer closed his own eyes and concentrated. Like every time in the past, his head ached as he tried to concentrate on the freakiest thing ever. The first time happened accidentally. It was the first time Panchi had fainted in the water. They were gone to play by a lake near Ranveer's lake-house. It was there when she had merged fully into the water and barely made it out.
Ranveer covered her eyes with one hand and moved his other hand down her body. His hand didn't touch her, but she felt that freak feeling. The one she had last felt three years ago. And slowly she felt her body regaining it's strength.
She slowly opened her eyes and stared at her savior. The concern on his face melted as she smiled at him. A moment later, he replied her smile with a bigger one. He had saved her, once again.
Ranveer turned around to see if anyone was around. To his horror, there was.
It was at a very young age, that his father had uttered those words to him. Love yourself, for what you are. Never be ashamed of it. The memory was fresh as a day. He could still see his father sitting on the bean bag, smiling down at him. As he glanced up, he found himself staring at the four people in front of him. He wondered if they had seen whatever happened a few moments ago, but not for long. For the man he dreaded stepped closer to him. If anything, he saw his eyes twitch in shock.
"What Yeh kya ha?" Anirudh asked him with uncertainty in his voice. Ranveer gulped and tried to shrug. He looked around, down at Panchi. Who was now getting up, fit and fine. But he took the chance to avoid the question and held Panchi by shoulders.
"You two, in staffroom now!" Anirudh said, pointing at Panchi and Ranveer and walked away. Ranveer took a deep breath and sighed. This is going to be a long day.

Piddi stared at the spot where Ranveer stood a few seconds ago. Was this really happening? Was he not the only one? It had not been long before he had been abused by the strangeness. He remember the day when he had first discovered the terrible enchantment in him.
"Ma, mein cycle chalane jaa raha hu!" Fourteen year old Piddi shouted to his mother who was cooking in the kitchen.
"Haan, jaldi aajana!" She replied.
Piddi went off to ride his bicycle. Going around the neighborhood. He was turning around to go back to the house when he felt dizzy and his eyes rolled back into his eyes. He stopped the bicycle and held his head. A terrible scene started playing in front of his eyes as if a movie. He saw his mom's hand, bleeding. Her eyes closed in pain. And just as suddenly, he was brought out of the vision. He swallowed and cycled back to his house as fast he could. He ran into the house, letting the vehicle fall outside. He frantically ran inside and into the kitchen. There he saw his mother. Sitting down by the wall. The red hand in her other hand.
"Ma!" He managed to just whisper.
"Ambulance!" She had muttered. And he obliged.

KD saw Kiya run away from there. If he wasn't wrong, he had seen the mist in her eyes. The weather seemed to turn heavy. He looked up at the sky. Clouds had hovered over. It looked like it will rain any moment now. And sure enough, it started drizzling.
He shook his head, dismissing any thought about her and walked towards the locker. It was a free class, and he wanted to complete all his homework in school.
A low sniffing voice caught his attention as soon as he entered the locker room. He frowned and looked at the girl sitting with her back to him, on the bench. He walked towards her and was about to offer her his handkerchief when he was reminded of the last time he had tried to be nice. She wasn't worth nice. He tried to ignore her and went to open his locker. He had just opened his locker when he saw vague, blurry images in his mind. A girl. Lonely. She was crying over something.
"Why do I have to be the one I never wanted to be?" The voice in his head whispered. He tried to shut it but it won't. "Do I not deserve friends?" And then the image cleared. It was her. The girl crying over loneliness sat behind him. "Do I not deserve to be normal?"
"Stop!" He said it before he realized. He couldn't bear the headache it gave him. By the time he realized he was not alone, she was gone. He frowned at her sudden disappearance.
And then it clicked. She thought he was talking to her. KD turned back to his locker frustrated and banged his hand on the locker furiously. Beneath the loud bang, he barely heard a gasp. But he did.
She was standing right next to him.
