There once was a serial, one of the longest running in tv history in those days, that had one actor doing the same role for 10 years. It was a weekly show of 60 minutes' full story (no stupid ads in those days). He died in the saddle. (It was a kind of cowboy story.) That is to say: he never did any other role, and he expired while shooting (a scene, that is).
