Very good chapter. Loved it. Finally dimaag ki batti jali angad ke.

But I dunno I cannot reconcile the non repentence of angad of all the free passes he has given to Seerat and how there has been zero introspection. The proposal MU was just tip of the ice berge. I hope now atleast he will introspect about how he failed as husband and never treated sahiba with respect and his equal.

CHAPTER 5

Precap: Seerat who was feeling nauseated after seeing the lovely display affection ran from there hyperventilating the fact how everything is crumbling apart. The dramatic run of Seerat from the room which was similar to the run by the person who heard his proposal activated his brain cells. The light bulb moment also triggered another memory of how Seerat knew about the proposal. Now his activated brain is not ready accept the excuse Seerat gave when asked how she knew about it. He turned to Sahiba and said, “It was Seerat.”

Sahiba: “Kya”

Angad quickly locked the door and sat near Sahiba and said, “I think I proposed to Seerat that day...”

Sahiba, “I know Angad. As I said before, I saw you proposing to di and that was the reason I left the house.”

Angad shaking his head, “Yes, I finally register it now. But trust me Sahiba, I thought it was you. Now that I remember clearly, the lights were out, and I was facing the back of the person. All this while I was under the impression that it was you.”

“Sahiba, I know that it is a snowball effect which made you lose trust in me. I do not yet understand where I was culpable, but I believe I am accountable for things to be so deteriorated. And I am willing to look into it and change myself.”

“..I… do not know if I am making sense to you. What I am conveying is, at present I have very vague idea where I have done wrong, but I for sure know I was wrong and will rectify it, with your help. For you.”

His tone even went softer and said, “I love you, Sahiba. With my whole heart. More than words can express I love you. I want to create a future with you, grow old with you, learn with you. I cannot imagine a life without you by my side. You make me complete, make me a better pers...”

Sahiba who was feeling overwhelmed with the love, hope, and sincerity in his eyes, interrupted him with a kiss. Though utterly shocked initially, Angad cupped her face and took charge. Both of them put all the yearning and love into the kiss. They finally broke it to come up for air and settled their foreheads against each other. Sahiba in a very low voice, “I love you too Angad. I … love… you…” With tears in their eyes, they hugged each other feeling euphoric and she continued, “Yes, lets grow together, learn together. But first, let us make a promise. We will always be open with each other and communicate directly. I also realize my culpability in these events. Only if I questioned you directly instead making roundabout remarks all this suffering would have been avoided. You are also correct in saying it was a snowball effect. Seerat di always had your trust, respect despite her many mistakes, whereas I would have to prove myself with saboot every time. I have felt your love for me, care for me since long, but not respect and trust. Can you promise me that you will work on that? Will you try to understand why exactly I feel that way?”

Breaking the hug, he cupped her face again and said, “Haan Sahiba. I promise that I will give you all my trust and respect. I won’t let them be some empty words this time. As I said I will find the root cause and work on it. This time around you will see my promises accompanied by actions.”

The silence danced in the room as the promises made to each other were engraved in to their brains and after a while, Angad continued,

“Acchha, chalo ab so jao. We need to take some rest to tackle the obstacles tomorrow.” Kissing her forehead, he covered her with a blanket and went to his side to sleep after switching off the lights. As he laid down, he put his arm out for Sahiba. With a shy smile, she scooted over a little to his side, put her head on his arm and her hand around his waist. Previously, this close proximity would have caused awkwardness, but now they are just content and blissful.

Angad woke up next morning and saw the serene face of Sahiba. Without a trace of worry or anger she looked so angelic which brought a smile to his face. He thanked Rab and carefully got out of Sahiba’s arms without disturbing her. He quickly messaged Pam regarding some work and then went for a shower. After getting ready for the day, he found Sahiba still sleeping. Normally, Sahiba would have been up and about, but the toll of last few days messed up her waking time. In the early hours, when peace prevailed, Angad thought to introspect himself to find where he went wrong and hurt Sahiba. “Everything Sahiba said was true. From the very beginning, I forgave Seerat for every mistake, big or small. Seerat hurt him by eloping from the wedding mandap, but the punishment was given to Sahiba. Even when Seerat has returned, she was forgiven and accepted immediately, whereas Sahiba fought a battle to be forgiven. Hell, she is fighting one to this day. His mamma, for some bizarre reason could forgive Seerat, but not Sahiba. What about him? Every single time he forgave Seerat just as she said sorry. But even when she broke her word on not repeating them, she was let off. He turned a blind eye to her actions. Rumination of all the events made him doubt the innocence of Seerat and realize the cutting words she used against Sahiba. Her calculative eyes yesterday opened his own eyes, and he could see all the calculative moves made by her, instead of a poor victim’s fate. And how he never let Sahiba say anything against Seerat, but he stood mum all the times Seerat was badmouthing his wife. No wonder Sahiba was heartbroken. The guilt of his inactions would eat him alive for a long time. Never in his life is he so ashamed of himself.”

As his thoughts continued in that direction, a soft knock interrupted him. It was Sukhdeep who was at the door, and she gave a package to Angad after wishing him good morning. Sahiba who woke with the sound asked Angad what is it? Angad opened the package and showed her a simple dress which fit her taste. “Woh, I asked Pam to contact the designer and send you a dress. Wahi hai. Go freshen up and get ready. I think everyone is going to be waiting for us.”

Sahiba who was admiring the dress as well as his thoughtfulness, moved with a small smile on her lips.

“ek minute, ek minute.” Saying so Angad reached Sahiba and kissed her on the forehead and continued, “Good morning Mrs. Brar.”

Sahiba’s smile became big, and she replied to the gesture with a kiss on his cheek, “Good morning to you too. Mr. Brar.”

Seerat who slept poorly with all the anxiety saw the chance when Sukhdeep opened the door and was lingering around the door doing her favorite hobby, aka, peeping.

Now, there is no guarantee that all the peepers would get from peeping is information they could use as hatiyaar. Sometimes, it shakes the ground they are standing on. Something similar happened to Seerat when she witnessed an intimate moment and she stumbled. The movement caught Angad’s eye, and he came towards the door in a cold fury and without blinking or taking his eyes off her, he shut the door in Seerat’s face. Utterly humiliated, frightened and quaking in her legs Seerat left from there.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier before breakfast, Bebe asked Veer to go to the Monga house and bring them to the Brar mansion. Veer replied that he and Keerat were asked to meet the police to view some video, and he arranged the meet at the Brar office. But he would send a driver to their house to get them.

After breakfast in the hall:

As Sahiba’s parents entered the hall, they hugged Sahiba and thanked God for looking after their daughter.

Inder: “Veer told me that Rumi has lost his sensibility and is being treated under psychiatrist after getting arrested. There is no chance that the monster will be out anytime soon. We will follow the case with legal team and make sure that he never crosses path with us ever again.”

Bebe: “Santosh, did Keerat make you aware of the drama that went down here.”

Santosh: “Haan ji. Keerat ne hume bataya ki humari pehi aulad kitni besharm hain. Yes, we do know how she proposed to her jhetji and how Jamaiji betrayed my daughter, the one he married.”

Sahiba stepped forward and said, “nahi mummy. We were able to clear some misconceptions yesterday. Actually, Angad thought he was talking to me. Woh, Seerat di was facing away from him, and when the power was out, he thought it was me and he confessed his feelings. All this while, he is under impression that I rejected him, whereas I thought he spoke to Seerat di.”

Angad came with folding hands tohis in-laws and said, “I love Sahiba and marte dum tak, I will love Sahiba. I have never betrayed her and will never do. Galtiya huyi hain mujhse. But I will work on it. Starting with holding Seerat responsible for her actions.”

“Haan to bolo Seerat ab how do you rationalize your actions? Why did you not show yourself when I started speaking? Why did you hide the fact from me and Sahiba? Why did you lie to me that Sahiba told you about the confession, when I asked you how you learnt of it. Why did you lie to me about Sahiba confiding in you about not appreciating my feelings and wishing to be free? Why did you instigate me every second against Sahiba? Why did you cross the line when I warned you not to?”

Keerat and Veer reached the hall and stood aside along everyone.

Monga ji: “statue ki tarah kyu kadi ho? Answer now Seerat. WHY? Why did you not think for a second that you are lighting a fire in your sister’s home. YOUR OWN SISTER?”

Seerat: “aap sab mujhe kyu villain bana rahe ho? Maine aisa itna bhi kya galat kiya. I genuinely thought Angad was speaking about his feelings to me. Aur when I realized ki it was about Sahiba I ran from there. And I was embarrassed to say about it to anyone.”

Manveer: “Angad ki pehli pasand Seerat thi. His and Sahiba’s marriage was a compromise. Agar Seerat is regretting her mistake about eloping from her wedding day and wants to rectify that, what is so wrong in that. Aisa to nahi hain ki vo jaan boochke Sahiba ko iss ghar se nikala. Sahiba khud chali gayi yah…”

Angad: “Really, mamma, even now you are going to defend her. Ye kyan pehli pasand par atki kui hain. Haan Seerat pehli pasand thi. Par now, Sahiba is my love. Why do you hate her so much mamma? I mean what is the reason? Yehi kyuki she gave it back to me when I gave crap to her when Seerat eloped. I mean please help me understand mamma, you can accept Seerat who has humiliated me by leaving me at the altar. But you cannot accept Sahiba who always stood by me even when she hated me. I just cannot understand you.”

Bebe: “Is it really about Angad’s pasand or your ego Manbeer? Do you like Seerat because you approved her and controlled the decision made by Angad? where as you had no choice in regard to his relationship with Sahiba, so you hate her. Am I right Manbeer? I told you yesterday to put Angad’s happiness before your ego`.”

Manveer: “Ye aap kya keh rahe ho Bebe. I always think of Angad’s wellbeing. I just find Seerat a well suited innocent girl, who has Angad’s best interests in her heart.”

Angad and Bebe started to make some comments, but before they could, Keerat retorted, “Seerat is not innocent as you think, Manveer ma’am.”

Seerat: “Main tum se badi hoon Keerat. You are calling me by name?”

Keerat: “Well, after seeing this video, you will lose the support of your only supporter and I am 100% sure that our parents will break ties with you. So, I am just following my premonition. Rumi has hacked Di’s and jeeju’s phones and the security system at Brar mansion and office. That’s how he seemed to know things. Additionally, he installed a videocam at the entrance of your hostel room di, to track the traffic into your room. Police suspected that this video might resolve the misunderstandings between you and jeeju and gave us this video.”

Veer meanwhile connected his phone to TV and played it.

Outside Sahiba’s hostel room:

Seerat with a smirk: “Toh iska matlab Sahiba heard Angad propose to me but did not stay till the end to realize he actually said his feelings for her. Meanwhile, Angad is angry because Sahiba ignored him when he apologized. Wow!!! (She gave a happy clap) What a perfect timing! I will make sure the misunderstandings between them grow so much that it will be hard to reconcile. When Angad is tired of Sahiba’s antics, I will be right there, next to him, to make him realize that we belong together. Haan nahi to.”

“Hmm, but Angad seems to be reluctant in accepting that. Maybe if he is persuaded by someone else, other than me, like Manveer maamiji, he will accept it. And I have to persuade maamiji first and make her think it was her choice to bring me and Angad together. Yeah, well, persuading her will be a piece of cake. Adding some to tadka on her ire towards Sahiba and satisfying her ego by being domicile, and nod yes to here very decision. Voila, I’ll have her on my side, and finally I will get what I deserve. I will be apple of everyone’s eye and become the queen of Brar mansion.”

The video ends there and the shock of hearing the bitter truth straight from the horse’s mouth paralyzed everyone. For a long time, no one could say anything.

Awesome chapter! I'm so glad Angad is a reasonable guy here!

I also hope somehow the truth of Seerat chipkoing Sahibas lines comes out so Angad realizes that what he thought he liked in Seerat was also Sahibas essence and what Seerat faked.
