Tere saathi mere kadmon ke hain nishan
After the fiasco with Daarji’s clients, Angad came to an understanding of what was the roadblock and how to resolve it. Any problem at work, his team would handle together to do root cause analysis, and implement the solution. If that was the case, how did he think that Sahiba would be able to alone juggle studies and home? She’s not superwoman. She may have that illusion, but I know better. Chacha-Chachi, Veer and Ekam will definitely help her, but Chachi doesn’t have as much clout as Bebe or Mom. Come what may, only Dad is able to stand up against Daarji and able to effectively shush up Jasleen Bua. I need to persuade them. - thought Angad.
Being the savvy sharp business man that he was, he created a strategy before going to meet his parents. Once he was satisfied with his game plan, he asked his parents to come meet him in his room. He figured his room would be the best place for talks to avoid eavesdropping. He texted them, and was waiting anxiously.
Once both Manveer and Inder came, Angad bolted, and locked his room, so that no one could come in without knocking. He was getting annoyed with Seerat’s random drop- ins, and he knew that Sahiba would understand he needed privacy for locking his door.
Inder and Manveer exchanged glances seeing that Angad wanted to keep top level privacy with them. Manveer initiated the convo, “Kya hua Angad, door kyun lock kya?”
“Haan puttar, baat kya hai?” Inder asked.
“Mumma, Papa I need to talk to you alone, and I need your help.” Angad said as he sat down.
“Kya help Angad? You’re an adult making decisions all by yourself” Manveer threw a shade at him reminding him of how he stood against the family for Sahiba’s studies.
Angad, threw in a breath, and mentally composed himself before starting to speak.
“Papa, Mumma I need your help. Your son needs your help so that he can progress in life. Can you please support me?” Angad spoke.
“What support Angad. Manveer and I have always wanted the best for you. If this darn wedding hadn’t happened, you would have been so happy.” Inder spoke with his disgust.
“Papa, Mumma, not always life goes as planned. We know that. Now tell me, should I stay where I am in life, or move on?” Angad spoke. Manveer and Inder looked at him curiously trying to understand what their son was getting at. They looked at him to elaborate further.
“I know my wedding was not at all what we were expecting. However, I think it’s time we moved on. If I stay in the same hole, life will continue to move. What will I gain from it ? Absolutely nothing. Instead, I will be the losing one who could not adapt and change things for better.” Angad said.
“So you want us to accept that ladki from that fraudster family?” Manveer got agitated.
“No Mumma. I’m not saying that. Hear me out first. So, I got a different bride. Don’t you think it’s a good thing I didn’t get married to Seerat? Listen, if she had married me, who is to say she wouldn’t be flirting with Garry behind my back? Whatever happened, happened for the best. There’s one more thing. Sahiba so far has not cheated us. She proved herself innocent. Despite knowing that I was behind her shop’s burning down, she still stayed with me. She did her duty. She even protected Kiara, and she protected Kiara formidably against all of us. Had Kiara not said anything, we would have continued assassinating Sahiba’s character, and she would not have spoken a word as she promised Kiara. She even covered up Kiara when the Mongas asked about her pregnancy. “ Angad replied.
Both Manveer and Inder were silently listening and registering everything that Angad said. He was right. Sahiba proved she had no significant part in the bride swap which Jasleen had orchestrated, not having anything to do with Seerat’s elopement. She had honestly lifted her veil and told the truth before Angad and her took the laavan phere. Their son knew who he was marrying. Yes, he was coerced into it, but he wasn’t tricked.
Angad continued further, “Now, we know that Sahiba is my wife legally. It’s not that I can divorce her. That’s not Brar tradition. Now, I know that Sahiba does what she says, she fulfills her responsibilities, and is upfront. That is still better than Seerat who acted sweet and ditched me at the last minute putting all our prestige at stake. Mumma, Papa ek heere ki chamak johri ke tarashne se hoti hai. Main bhi wahin kar raha hoon Sahiba ke saath. Ismein mera swarth aur meri tarakki hai. Media usko Mrs Angad Singh Brar ke naam se jaanti hai, mere naam se. Kal agar woh graduate hoti hai, toh isse sabse bada fayda mujhe hoga. I would be at peace that she would not mess up anything stupid. Aap hi batao, kya aap pasand nahin kareinge agar uski padhai se mujhe fayda ho?”
“Puttar, main teri baat samajh raha hoon. Kya tu chahta hai ki hum usko apna lein?” Inder asked, puzzled.
“Nahin Papa. Main yeh nahin keh raha. Main bas itna keh raha hoon, help me by supporting her in getting a balance struck while she studies with home stuff. Like today, Mumma could have taken the forefront being the gracious hostess she is, and casually say Sahiba is running a tad bit late due to an urgent work. Mumma aap yeh sab itne asaani se sambhaal lete ho. Like the paratha incident, I tasted it at work, and it was fine. I then realized that Prabhjyot Bua doesn’t like Sahiba, and will find a way to create ruckus. If you both were supportive, then you would have dismissed her and not let this become Panipat ki Jung. Mumma, Jasleen bua wants to create tamasha in this house, and now Sahiba going for studies will be her attack plan. Do you honestly want that?” Angad knew if he placed Jasleen in front of his mother, his mother would definitely agree. If his mother agreed, then his father wouldn’t be far behind.
“Fine Angad, I will help support you by managing things at home so there’s balance for her. However, I’m not accepting her as my bahu.” Manveer said firmly.
“That’s absolutely fine Mumma. I don’t want you to do that. Just observe and get to know her as a person disassociated from her family, nothing else.” Angad smiled.
Inder on the other hand was after all Akaal Singh Brar’s son and Angad’s father. He knew the long game Angad was playing. Barkhurdaar, main bhi tera baap hoon. Tu apni shaadi ko maan raha hai, tu apni biwi ko pasand karne laga hai. Aur isliye tu chahta hai uski kamiyon ko khatm karna, jiske wajah se ungali uthe. Theek hai, I will keep an open mind and try to get to know her a bit. - Inder thought to himself as he went back to his room.
