Situation: Seerat’s fake pregnancy is discovered. The family is livid, and Angad believes that Sahiba did this knowingly to get Seerat married into the Brars.

Title inspired by:

Jeet jayenge hum,

Jeet jayenge hum, Tu agar sang hain

Zindagi har kadam, Ek nayi jung hai

Sahiba’s POV:

I never understood Seerat Di it seems. She trapped someone in a marriage with a fake pregnancy. How much more can she stoop? Sometimes, I'm ashamed to think that we are related, let alone sisters. To top it off, Angad once again blames me for knowing everything about it. How ridiculous is this claim? However, what can I expect from ATM. When it comes to me, it seems like his sense of logic goes out the window, as if I'm there, it must be my fault only.

You know what, I'm tired of all this circus business. I married this ape to preserve the family name. Now I got Seerat Di married for the sake of her ‘fake’ pregnancy. I helped him with his new collection. Yet still, I’m his punching bag? I’ve had it. One end I have him taunting me, and on the other end I have Seerat Di telling me I have taken her place. Did I want her place? No, I was compelled to take her place because she ran away. However, I had kept my peace because of Seerat Di’s pregnancy. Now I’m done with all this. I need freedom from all of this.

I had spoken to Daarji and Bebe in confidence about my decision explaining how my work was done. All the tangled relationships have been sorted now. There was no need for me to stay.

Bebe disagreed, “But Sahiba Puttar, you are the bahu of this house, the eldest of the new generation.”

I countered her, “Bebe I’m tired now. All the accusations always land on me for no fault of mine. How can I live like this?”

Daarji spoke, “ Puttar, I understand. But mark my words, these relations that you’ve cultivated so nicely, they won’t let you go so easily. They will end up calling you back. Don’t worry. You take your time and pursue that entrepreneurship program you got accepted into Delhi. Here are the keys to the Delhi apartment where you will stay, and just tell Sartaj my driver to take you there. I think people need to understand how taking relationships for granted does not work.”

Bebe nodded in agreement, and gave a parting hug to Sahiba, ensuring that she too bore no ill feelings.

Sahiba left Brar Mansion when no one was noticing. In the car, she kept trying to focus on her goal ahead: to complete her one year entrepreneurship program which Jaspal Sir and Veer had helped her select. Daarji had given them the go ahead and financed her education. She decided to leave everything related to Angad from her mind, and just focus on completing her degree successfully.

Next Morning:

Angad went on his ritualistic stroll towards the storeroom. He saw that it was open with no signs of Sahiba. He found it strange, so decided to check everywhere. Seeing no traces of Sahiba, he began to panic. He asked the security guards, and confirmed that she had left last night.

He looked lost as he roamed around the house. He knew if he called, she wouldn’t pick up. He tried to get Veer to call. She didn’t pick up his call either.

Bebe put a hand on Angad’s arms as Daarji broke the news that Sahiba had left and had notified them last night.

Bebe looked at Manveer, and with a tinge of anger said, “She left everything that was given to her. It’s all in my room. All the jewelry and clothes. Sharm aani chahiye tum logon ko. Ghar ki bahu Lakshmi ka pratik hondi hai. Khud Lakshmi hi ulte pair chali gayi. Thandak mil gayi tum dono maa-bete ko.”

Angad felt as if someone had whipped him across the face. He hadn’t realized that things could go this far. Where could she have gone? From what Bebe said, it appears that she was aware of Sahiba leaving. It seemed though she was not willing to tell him anything more since she left for her room. He knew he had his work cut out now. He took his car out to drive to Sahiba’s house and store to see if he could find her.

Evening at Brars’

Angad came home dejected. He couldn’t trace Sahiba anywhere. He made sure not to alarm her parents that she had left Brar Mansion. Daarji and Bebe did not give him any chance to speak. However he did notice that both Daarji and Bebe along with Veer still seemed relaxed. Did they know where she was? It was unnatural for them to be so level headed and composed when everyone knew she left.

He also observed that Seerat didn’t seem to have a care about Sahiba. Is this the same person he was so blind about all these months? She was engrossed in herself. There was not even a teardrop spared for that one sister who basically laid her life for her. Instead she was too preoccupied dealing with the ire of everyone else as a result of her fake pregnancy. Both Garry and Jasleen Bua were not on speaking terms with her. The rest of the house was also giving her a cold shoulder.

His mother too seemed to have guilt on the way she had treated Sahiba. His Dad had given an earful to them sarcastically asking if they were pleased with achieving their goal.

When he pressured Veer enough, he got to know that Sahiba had left for a year-long program. Now being the end of August, meant that her program would start in September ending in early April. She’d have an interim winter break in December. So from now until December, he couldn’t see her at home. During her stay in Delhi, Daarji had accommodated her at the family Delhi apartment.

“Paaji, please don’t do anything to disturb Bhabhi. Let her concentrate on her work. You try to see if there are ways to support her… Maybe help out Keerat? That would surely be a big help. You need to support Bhabhi taking care of her responsibilities so that she can achieve something for herself. Isn’t that what life partners do?” Veer tried to reason with him.

Angad could sense Veer implying to give Sahiba some space and some time to calm down before he appears in front of her again. What have I done? - He thought. There’s no quick fixes to this anymore. I have no choice but to play the waiting game now. I took her for granted, and hurled accusations at her before pausing and getting them verified. Had it been anyone else, wouldn’t I have verified? Yes, I would have. Phir kyun jab baat Sahiba ki aati hai toh mera dimaag ghaas charne chala jaata hai. I could have asked her. I should have been gentle and talked with her. Now she’s fed up with me and left. I never thought she could leave me. Veer is right. Let me find a way to help her in her duties. Maybe I should talk with Keerat first and try to understand and formulate a plan. With renewed zest, Angad Singh Brar went to call his sister in law for her help.
