CHAPTER 2
Rama and Rachita slept on either sides of the bed. This time, it was Rama who woke up first this time. Her hair was on his face and her hands engulfed him. His hands were on her face and next to it. He quietly took his hand out and took all of her and put it behind her ear. He saw a smile curving on her face. He then picked a pillow from the ground and replaced his body with the pillow. The smile suddenly went away. Rama woke up Rachita as it was already 8 and she had to start her English classes again. She woke up with a long yawn. She ran her hands through her hair and then drank water to wake herself up.
"Good Morning Rama" She said in a sleepy tone.
"Good Morning Rachita Ji" He replied very happily.
"How do you carry that smile all day Rama?" She asked curiously.
"Its just my habit. After all, my life's is all amazing to keep smiling. I have a good friend like you"
"Aww, that is so cute" Rachita got up and pulled Rama's cheeks. He continued smiling.
Rama went and took a bath as Rachita waited.
"Rama, what do I wear? My kurtas or sarees? What do you think is fine? I don't want to upset anyone" Rachita asked with a questioned face.
"Anything you want Rachita Ji. It's all fine with what you wear as long as you carry that sweet smile of yours." he spoke confidently.
"Thank you. Thank you, for being this way. For keeping my comfortable even in this warmed up situation." She put her hand on his shoulder. " Continue being like this, you are the best person I ever met"
He just nodded his head in acceptance. They were bonded friends which made them a bonded couple.
Rachita got ready as Rama went on to study. Rachita came wearing a pink kurta with black leggings. She bid Rama a goodbye and went on to attend her classes.
It was 3 in the afternoon. Time for Rachita to come. Rama anxiously waited for her to come because he was hungry and was missing her a little. It was 3:05. Rama heard some noises from the living room.
"Oh ho, Sorry Rachita Bitiya. I didn't know that I had no right to rebuke you a little for your mistakes. I forgot you are a very modern girl na? I'm really sorry" Sumitra sarcastically said folding her hands in front of Rachita. Tears brimmed in Rachita's eyes.
"Aunty, what are you saying? I respect you a lot. I didn't know you will like it. I asked Rama tha-" Rachita tried explaining.
"Don't blame my Rama, Rachita! He is as innocent as a cow and I don't want you trapping him! As far as I know, my Rama will not allow you to wear such kurtas. He knows the ideal wear for a married woman, a suhagan is a saree. Stop acting smart!" Sumitra pointed her finger at Rachita with conniving eyes.
"I didn't know about this saree thing. I thought you would have no problem thats why I wore my normal clothes. I'm sorry to have disappointed you. I'll immediately change." Rachita turned as she saw Rama listening to everything quitely without being noticed. She saw a yearning anger in his eyes. She just started to walk.
" You mahaan mother must have not taught you this right! She must have also gotten equally modern after marrying your vagabond, modern, bhagoda father!" Sumitra hit the weakest nerve on Rachita's body. Rachita was extremely angry now. Irrespective, of the relation they shared, she couldn't keep quiet. But someone else spoke before she did.
"Amma! Enough! This is not the way to talk to Rachita Ji! She is my wife! And her family is my family! So i will not bear a word of my father-in-law and mother-in-law! Rachita Ji has not trapped me. I! I told her to wear the clothing of her choice. Don't blame her until you know everything! I have given Rachita Ji permission to wear such clothes and I have no objection! Come, let's go Rachita Ji!" Rama spoke up, and finally Rachita felt lighter. She felt all of Sumitra's rebukes were fine, but she got agitated at the comment about her parents. Yet she took the decency to make Rama apologize.
"Rama, apologize to your mother. This is not the way you speak to her!" Rachita said to Rama despite all aches in her heart.
"Look Look, she already trapped my Rama to go against me and now she is trying to prove herself very godly! I don't want anything! I have received the worst already!" Sumitra left the room crying silently.
Rama took Rachita to the room. As Rama closed it, Rachita immediately hugged him.
"Thank you, Rama. For defending my parents. For defending me. Honestly if she wants I'll wear a saree from tomorrow." She said still wrapped in his comforting arms.
He broke the hug and wiped Rachita's tears. "Its my duty, to protect you. What are friends for? What are husbands for?" He chuckled. "Besides, your family is mine. And you will not wear a saree until its your own will. Don't make yourself uncomfortable. Okay?" he asked. She nodded with a weak smile. She mouthed a small thank you.
"By the way, you know its our wedding reception tomorrow? Amma delivered the cards in the morning, and I have your outfit too! It matches mine." He said excitedly walking back and forth of the room.
"Really? Can I see my lehenga?" Rachita said with a smile as she couldn't avoid Rama and his cuteness.
"Definitely! Let me get it!" Rama said running out of the room. "Here it is" Rama said carrying the lehenga by a hanger.
"Wow Rama! Who's choice was this! It's splendid!" Rachita said in awe and love for the dress.
It was a red and cream lehenga with stunning work all through it. Rachita traced her hands through it as if it was her love. Rama giggled looking at her. He showed his kurta too. A cream sherwani with a red pyjama.
"Matching Matching huh?" Rachita said lifting both dresses in each hand.
Rama just curved up his fingers to make a perfect sign and winked.
The whole next day passed by in calmness and a long wait.
It was time for the reception. Rama got ready 1 hour earlier in excitement. He couldn't believe he was married to Rachita. He was blabbering to himself which sounded like rubbish. He kept jumping up and down and played with his hair confused by which hairstyle Rachita would like. Rachita got a glimpse of it and found it weird but couldn't control her laughter. Silent enough, to not reach Rama's ears. Rachita also got ready about 30 minutes before the guests started arriving, until she called Rama.
"Rama!" She shouted. "Yes Rachita ji?" He said standing outside the washroom.
"Call Aunty , Buaji or Masi Ji na. I need to tie the dori of my blouse." She said in a voice of stuggle.
"Rachita Ji, Amma and Buaji have gone to the reception hall, and Masi Ji has gone to the jewellery shop to get my broche. Should I call Amaya? She's next door only." He said as though about to run like Usain Bolt.
"No No, it won't look good. Let me think." Rachita said still struggling.
"Can I be of an-any hel-help?" Rama stuttered. "Is there an option? 'Fine, you can enter." She unlocked the door.
Rama entered the washroom hesitantly and saw an angel standing in front of him, (Just like a Veela, Ron saw in the Qudditch World Cup) he stared with his mouth open at Rachita, who was wearing the lehenga and looking heart-wrenchingly pretty. She draped her dupatta over her shoulder, with her extremely straight, smooth and silky dark brown hair with a gold maang tika on the parting of her hair. Her bare neck was filled for with her gold baalis and a small silver bindi between her eyebrows.
"Rama?" she snapped at him. " Huh? Yes Rachita Ji, can you turn?" he said finally out of awe. Rachita turned as Rama saw her bare back as pretty as the front. He quickly tied the dori and went out. Surprisingly, Rachita joined him the next heartbeat.
"You look stunningly gorgeous Rachita Ji!" He said with a heavy breath and smile.
"You too Rama!" Rachita smiled back. "Let's go then if we're done?" Rama said pointing his eyes towards the door. "Sure" she said walking with Rama.
They got into the car and went proceeding towards the hall.
