Exiting the hospital, he quickly scanned the surrounding area, desperately hoping that she would be nearby somewhere... but she wasn't. "Kaha chali gayi hai tu Twinkle?" He let out, running his hands through his hair. Considering that she didn't have a car and there would be very little, if any, public transport at this time of night, he concluded that she can't have gone far. So without caring about anything else, he got into his car and drove off to find her.
He drove around the streets aimlessly hoping to catch any glimpse of blue. The blue saree she had worn to their date. The date where he was going to confess his feelings to her. The events of the day filled his mind again, like someone had played the replay button on a video. The more he thought about it, the heavier the shame and guilt became. A burden on his chest that he so desperately needed to get rid of. Just thinking about losing her made his heart clench so much that he found it difficult to breathe. No! He hadn't lost her. He has to find her. He will find her.

Twinkle doesn't remember how she ended up on this empty road. She just remembers having to get as far away from that place as she physically could. She thought if she distanced herself from there, the pain would lessen too, she would hurt less. But it didn't. She had been pointlessly strolling for the past half an hour, not knowing where to go or what to do. Nearing a bench close by, she seated herself fed up of walking around with no destination. The temperature had dropped and her saree didn't really do much to keep her warm. She rubbed her hands across her arms in an attempt to warm herself up. The tears welled again. She had told herself that she wouldn't cry anymore. Promised herself that she wouldn't cry for the people who didn't value her emotions. Then why couldn't she stop them from falling? Why did she care so much for him when he clearly didn't feel the same?! Her anger transformed to sadness. Because she loved him. That's why. She was right, love is pain. This was the second time that she had loved someone, yes, the feelings she had for Yuvi didn't even compare to the love she felt for Kunj but, in the end, it was always her who had to bear the pain and hurt. She closed her eyes tightly, hoping that somehow the tears would take some of the pain along with them as they continued to stream down her cheeks.

Kunj punched his steering wheel. He had been driving around for the past 15 minutes and there was still no sign of Twinkle. He punched the steering again letting out the frustration that had been building inside him. He exited his car and kicked the front wheel, running his hands through his hair again. Where was she?! There is no way that she had left him, he wouldn't allow it! Considering that his car wasn't helping him, apart from letting him vent his anger, he decided to continue the rest of his search on foot.
He had been walking for about 10 minutes, not knowing where exactly he was headed but it had felt right. So following his instincts, he continued. He laughed mockingly at his current situation. Wandering around at this time of night to find his wife, his wife, whom he himself had not given any importance too. But here he was, hoping that God would give him a second chance. A chance to right the wrongs he had done. A chance to give Twinkle all the happiness in the world that she deserves.
And God did. There in the distance, he could make out a figure seated on a bench. He couldn't see the face properly but he knew, his heart knew, it was her. Feeling like a tonne of weight had been lifted off his shoulders, he sincerely thanked Babaji and didn't waste any more time. He ran towards her. Towards his Twinkle.
Her eyes were tightly closed but he could see the tears still falling. His heart ached. She was hurting because of him. Because he couldn't be a good husband. He couldn't even be a good friend. She needed him to trust her and he hadn't. But he truly believed that God had given him a second chance to rectify his mistakes and he wouldn't let it go to waste. Not this time.
"Twinkle..." He broke the silence in an almost whispering tone.
Twinkle's snapped open. She thought she had heard him. But he wouldn't come to find her... would he? She looked in the direction the voice had come from. It was him. She turned her face, stood up and began walking again.
"Twinkle... Twinkle kaha ja rahi hai?" Kunj asked as he followed behind her. She remained silent. And that killed him a little even more. He could handle her tantrums, her arguments, her siyappas, but not her silence. "Twinkle please meri baat sun... Twinkle ruk ja!" He commanded as he grabbed her arm and forcefully turned her towards him. "Yeh kya bachpana hai?" He asked her in a soft tone. A tone which asked her to not take out his anger on herself. A tone which almost pleaded her to not leave him.
"Yeh bachpana nahin hai Kunj" Twinkle replied shoving his arms away from her shoulders. "Kyu aye ho tum yaha? Mujhe mere haal par chor do Mr. Kunj Sarna. Pehle kya kam dukhaya tha jo ab namak lagane ke liye agaye?" she spat. Her words hit Kunj directly where she wanted them to. His heart.
"Mujhe maaf karde Twinkle, mujhse bohot badi galti hogayi. Papa ne hume sab kuch bata diya Twinkle, sab kuch. Pata nahin kaise maine voh sab tujhse keh diya, mujhe tere saath aisa nahin karna chahiye tha, I'm really sorry Twinkle" Kunj apologised. His voice carried a thousand different emotions, guilt, shame, hurt, and she knew that he meant every word he had spoken. But it wasn't easy for her to forget everything.
"Papaji ne keh diya toh tumne maan liya, main jab keh rahi thi, uss waqt mujhpe yakeen nahin aya?" She was glad that he knew the truth. That he knew she was innocent. But he should've believed HER.
"Aisa nahin hai yaar, tujhe mujhko pehle hi bata dena chahiye tha uss video ke bare mein, tu jaanti hai na ki main maa ki aankhon mein ansoo nahin dekh saktha, uss waqt pata nahin mujhe sirf vahi dikh raha tha... main...pata nahin... maaf karde mujhe..."
"Tumne bhi toh mujhse mere papa ki sachayi chupayi thi Kunj..."
"Voh teri balayi ke liye tha, aur in dono baaton kya connection hai?"
"Connection hai. Maine bhi tumhari balayi ke liye nahin bataya that. Main jaanti hoon ki tumhare aur papaji ki beech tension hai, uss video ke bare mein batake, main nahin chahati thi ki baap bete ke beech aur narazagi bade... aur mummyji ka bhi socho, main toh phir bhi parayi hoon lekin tum toh bete ho unke, kaisa lagta unhe yeh jaan ke ki unke apne bete ne unse yeh baat chupayi?
"Tu parayi nahi hai Twinkle" was all he said. She had just given him her justification but all he could focus on was her referring to herself as an outsider. How could she think that? She meant the world to him!
Twinkle scoffed, "kuch der pehle uss hospital ki corridor mein mujhe parayi hone ka hi ehsaas hua Kunj" sadness fading into her last words. Kunj kept silent.
"Yaad hai Kunj?" Twinkle started again. "Tumne mujhse ek bar pehle kaha tha ki tum nahin jaante ke tum yeh rishta, yeh shaadi kaise nibhayo ge. Jis rishte mein trust nahin hai, dosti nahin hai, uss rishte ko zindagi bar nibhana, is not possible"
Memories from the night that Kunj had told Twinkle the truth about the farmhouse flashed before his eyes. Yes he had told her those things. But he didn't really feel that way. He looked at her. She wasn't saying this directly to his face or being spiteful. Even though she was facing him, her mind was somewhere far far away. He could tell from the look in her eyes.
"Aaj main tumse keh rahi hu Kunj, mujhe nahin pata ki main kaise iss rishte ko sambhalungi. Main jo bhi karti hu, tumhe main hi galat dikhti hu. Chahe mein chilau ya ro ro ke apni baat kahu, tumhe mujh par vishvas hi nahin hai Kunj..."
"Twinkle please aisi baatein mat kar, main maanta hu ki maine tujhe bohot hurt kiya, tu chahe toh mujhe mar, galiya deh, lekin aisi baatein kar ke mujhe jeeteji mat mar"
Twinkle turned to face him. His once shining deep brown eyes were now blood-shot red. And it killed her seeing him like this. "Ab iske bare baat kar ke koi fayda nahin hai Kunj, tum wapas hospital chale jao, sabko tumhari zaroorat hogi"
"Aur tujhe meri zaroorat nahin hai?"
Twinkle was taken aback by his question. He had hurt her, yes, but she couldn't help the slight feeling of butterflies that had developed in her stomach at his question. Controlling herself, she replied, "nahin." With that, she turned around and began to walk away from him...
"Par mujhe teri zaroorat hai Twinkle"
She stopped dead in her tracks.
"Main tere bina nahin jee sakta Twinkle"
She turned to face him and the tears started to form again. She waited.
"...Main tere bina mar jaunga" he said finally. A clear display of his dejection.
Her heart skipped a beat. Twinkle ran towards him and covered his mouth with her hand. "Shut up Kunj Sarna, aisi baatein koi karta hai kya? Tum kitne bure ho" she tried to shout at him, tears falling from her eyes.
"Kyu? Mere marne se tujhe kya?" He had snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her close. Staring into each other's eyes, they searched for all the clarifications, the justifications, the apologies, the feelings... yes, the feelings that they both harboured for one another. Twinkle snapped out of the trance and tried to push away. Kunj let her.
"Bata na Twinkle, main mar gaya toh tujhe kya? Tu toh vaise bhi jaa rahi hai mujhe chor ke" He provoked.
Twinkle took in his words. Yes, she was angry at him. But the idea of Kunj not being in her life anymore overshadowed the hurt she had been feeling. She knew he was trying to provoke her but her emotions weren't on the same page as her mind. She stood still, trying to compose herself.
Kunj could see the inner battle that she was having with herself. He slowly walked up to her and took her into his arms again. Twinkle struggled initially but gave up when he would remove his hands from her waist. "Kya kar rahe ho Kunj?" she argued.
"Yeh mere sawal ka jawab nahi hai Twinkle" he edged closer.
She narrowed her eyes at him, "mujhe nahin padta farak"
"Jhooti. Mere parivaar ke liye tune kitna kuch nahin saha. Mere dad ke liye tune apni zindagi daw pe laga di. Kyu? Chot mujhe lagti hai, par dard tujhe hota hai, kyu? Raat ko thand mujhe lagti hai, aur bed tu share karti hai, kyu? Iss sab ka main kya matlab nikalu Mrs. Twinkle Kunj Sarna?"
Twinkle felt her heart melt at the way he had asked her those questions. She knew the answer. She loved him. And she would always love him. He had been there for her in the most difficult of times in her life. Even before they had become friends, he had always stood up for her against Yuvi. He was the one who had wiped away her tears. It was his handkerchief she had used to blow her nose. He stood by her all those times Anita aunty had conspired against her. He stood by her family, treated her mother like his very own. If her family have reunited, it was because of him. He stood by her even when she accused him of committing that disgusting act against her. Never did he take advantage of her in the entire period of their marriage. And she would never forget all this. Yes, there were times when they fought and misunderstood each other but in the end, she knew he would be there. He would make it up to her. He would make her smile again.
"Jawab de Twinkle, main kuch pooch raha hu..."
"Kyunki I love you" came the response. It was literally a whisper but those few words did something to Kunj's heart which he didn't know was even possible. He stared back into her brown eyes that were searching his for an answer. Some kind of reassurance that everything was going to be ok.
He couldn't believe that she loved him too! Staring at her innocent face, he remembered all those times when she had proved herself to be a good daughter-in-law, a good wife and a friend. The way she silently endured Guruji's ridiculous ceremonies even though she didn't believe in them herself. When she had fasted for him during Karwachauth even though she lived for food. The way she had saved Bebe risking her own life. When she proved his innocence and got him released from jail. The act she put up when he wasn't getting admission for his MBA. The way she never forgot to pack his tiffin when he left for college. He cherished every memory and counted his blessings. His biggest blessing in his wife, his Twinkle.
"Main bhi tujhse bohot pyaar karta hu Twinkle" he finally replied. "Pata nahin kab, kaise, kahaan, par mujhe tujhse pyaar hogaya. Aur ab main tere bina nahin jee saktha" He caressed her face, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears.
This was the moment that they had both been eagerly waiting for. They had finally confessed their feelings for each other. Feelings they both shared and now knew too. Kunj pulled Twinkle into his chest and wrapped his arms around her tightly. Their first hug after their confession, a hug that sealed the deal and binded them to each other for the rest of their lives. Time stopped as they both relished in each other's presence. For him, his life was now complete... he was now complete. For her, she was now in the safest place she could be, her husband's arms. The smile which adorned both their faces spoke a thousand words about their happiness, their contentment, their love for each other...
Pulling away from each other, but remaining in his arms, Twinkle punched him once again, "Kitne gande ho tum, mujhe phir se rula diya" she complained playfully.
"Ek number ki jhalli hai tu pata hai?" He teased, wiping away her tears to which she gave the most adorable pout. "Meri jhalli biwi" he said proudly.
The moment was interrupted by Kunj's ringtone. It was Bebe calling asking about his whereabouts and whether he had found Twinkle. He told her that he had and that they would both be back at the hospital soon before he cut the call.
"Acha toh Mrs. Kunj Sarna, hospital chale?"
"Nahin Kunj, main vaha jaungi toh mummyji koh acha nahin lagega"
"Arreh yaar, maa ko main mana lunga, tu chal"
"Lekin Kunj..."
"Tu aise nahin manegi hai na?" Before Twinkle had a chance to respond, she felt herself being lifted in to muscular arms. Her husband had started to get into the habit of picking her up whenever she was stubborn and she couldn't deny that she loved it. And she fit perfectly in his arms. Kunj smiled as Twinkle didn't protest but quite gladly let him carry her, her hands entwining around his neck. After everything that had happened between them, from the first day of their marriage till now, today, he was truly, in every sense, taking his bride home.
