"I caught a glimpse of my grave in her lips"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the last few days of writing these on Yuvraj and defending him, I began to think perhaps I'm flawed in my thinking. Maybe I'm being a little too kind to him and that he really is messed up. But, then, I saw today's episode and my heart broke for him all over again and I realized there is so much more to him than what meets the eyes.

The particular scene I am speaking of is during the Antakshari scene when Twinkle sings the Veer-Zara song. Yuvraj's expression in that scene stands out to me. Ever since Kunj and Twinkle have gotten married, have we seen Yuvi genuinely be happy? No. From what I recall (I could be wrong), we've seen him laugh (cunningly) or fake his happiness (like with Mahi). However, in this scene he smiled and albeit being laced with poignancy, it was real. The reason behind his smile was Twinkle. The only times I recall him being truly happy with her. Below is a piece of photographic evidence:*

*Credit where due*

Either way, it is clear he cares for Twinkle. In his own (dysfunctional) way, he feeling her. And to be honest, those feelings are his having grace. We have seen him hurt his own mother, do such crazy things but with Twinkle, there is a sense of calmness evoked in him indicating that he is attached to her. I literally cannot forget the look pure veneration he had when he saw Twinkle being carefree as she was prior. It would have been awesome if we got to see flashbacks of their relationship with his perspective. I genuinely believe that deep, deep down inside he knows he's ruining himself. But, he can't stop. There is obviously a line between right and wrong but when all you see is "love" then that line is nonexistent. You just want that person.

Now, this part will likely get me tomatoes and eggs, but I do think he loves her. Hear me out though! Everyone has differing definitions of love. We all expect it to be encompassed in certain qualities. Love is subjective; what is an indication of love to one may not be for another. Take Kunj and Twinkle, for example. They have yet to express vocally their love but we know they do love each other. I was recently speaking about that to a friend and she looked at me incredulously and said "How can you assume when they haven't told you?" I realized, then, that love is different for EVERYONE. Of course, there are some common overarching themes but the mannerisms in which it is displayed varies. For Kunj, it may be making sure she is physically taken care of but for Yuvi, it might be making sure she's always having fun on their dates. Bottom line is, Yuvi is attached to Twinkle and has been for years. How can he have gone by not feeling any sort of attachment or connection? Just because his definition of love does not fit ours does not make it any less valid. And NO I am not talking about his acid attack and attempted rape. Please don't think I am justifying those.

Guys, I'm so sorry. You must be getting sick of these but these last few episodes are providing us with so many subtle insights into Yuvraj's character. And I can't help but make these posts (novels) about them. Those who read, thank you! Do share your thoughts!

I totally agree with you! I also feel that he loves her, especially when he looked at her today, I actually felt for him. like him giving that look to twinkle brought me back to the old TEI days where ti was only Yuvi and twinkle. also, when you mentioned that he only truly smiled when he was with her, that is true he never smiled like that when he was with his own mom.
seriously I love your analysis on Yuvraj Luthra and I think you should keep it up! 👏👏

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion and I can tell you've thought a lot about his character, as his shown in your analysis.
But I just cannot and will never be able to overlook the attempted murder, rape and the successful acid attack among other things.

His character is so powerful and brilliant literally! I can identify him as one of those men you come across in life who think they own you because they once decided to fall in love with you and even after you are not part of their life, they continue to stalk you and obsess after you.
Yuvraj's character is as such with such a powerful thought that twinkle is only his and belongs to him. and unlike his mother who is self-observed and motivated by her hatred, Twinkle showed Yuvraj respect and love that he feels only he is entitled to.

Men like him are so much messed up and you can only feel sorry for how self-destructive they actually are for themselves more then they are for the women they harass.

Yes! His character is so complex and layered. I'm in love with analyzing every scene he is in. That's actually how I spent my evening- rewatching his scenes to better understand him. I think he's emotionally damaged which draws my sympathy.

You expressed your thoughts beautifully. Yuvraj is a complex characters and most of his ideals or even decisions have been based on his entitlement to Twinkle's love. His possessive nature is another outlet for his love for her. While he might not be able to see he is suffocating her, he genuinely believes he is only trying to protect what rightfully belongs to him. Since Twinkle at one stage in her life loved him, he is holding on to that memory and using it as a basis for using every means to gain her back. He loves her, in his own twisted, and carnal way, love is the driving force behind his actions. Now whether those actions are right or wrong is not his concern, in his mind love can be attained through any means. Even if it means causing your beloved temporary pain.
