After the last few days of writing these on Yuvraj and defending him, I began to think perhaps I'm flawed in my thinking. Maybe I'm being a little too kind to him and that he really is messed up. But, then, I saw today's episode and my heart broke for him all over again and I realized there is so much more to him than what meets the eyes.
The particular scene I am speaking of is during the Antakshari scene when Twinkle sings the Veer-Zara song. Yuvraj's expression in that scene stands out to me. Ever since Kunj and Twinkle have gotten married, have we seen Yuvi genuinely be happy? No. From what I recall (I could be wrong), we've seen him laugh (cunningly) or fake his happiness (like with Mahi). However, in this scene he smiled and albeit being laced with poignancy, it was real. The reason behind his smile was Twinkle. The only times I recall him being truly happy with her. Below is a piece of photographic evidence:*

Now, this part will likely get me tomatoes and eggs, but I do think he loves her. Hear me out though! Everyone has differing definitions of love. We all expect it to be encompassed in certain qualities. Love is subjective; what is an indication of love to one may not be for another. Take Kunj and Twinkle, for example. They have yet to express vocally their love but we know they do love each other. I was recently speaking about that to a friend and she looked at me incredulously and said "How can you assume when they haven't told you?" I realized, then, that love is different for EVERYONE. Of course, there are some common overarching themes but the mannerisms in which it is displayed varies. For Kunj, it may be making sure she is physically taken care of but for Yuvi, it might be making sure she's always having fun on their dates. Bottom line is, Yuvi is attached to Twinkle and has been for years. How can he have gone by not feeling any sort of attachment or connection? Just because his definition of love does not fit ours does not make it any less valid. And NO I am not talking about his acid attack and attempted rape. Please don't think I am justifying those.
Guys, I'm so sorry. You must be getting sick of these but these last few episodes are providing us with so many subtle insights into Yuvraj's character. And I can't help but make these posts (novels) about them. Those who read, thank you! Do share your thoughts!
