T minus 22 hours:
The street was mostly deserted despite a few cars passing here and there. The air was thick with anticipation as he slowly drove his car to her house. Not wanting to disturb anyone he stealthily parked the car trying to be as quiet as possible. However the scene in front of him nearly gave him a heart attack. His fiancee was climbing down a rope from her room's balcony. One misstep and she could get severely injured. Forgetting about being quiet he hurriedly open the car's door and got out. His worry was unwarranted though as Twinkle had expertly landed on the ground.
"Are you mad?" He said a little loudly
"Shh everyone is sleeping and its nice to see you too Kunj"
"What if something happened to you?" He asked
"Aww itni care don't worry I am an expert at this"She said dramatically
"You are insane you know that right"
"Then you should feel bad for yourself" she said
"Kaha phasa diya babaji apnay mujhay"
"Chalo time mat waste karo let's go" She insisted
"You know most brides prefer to have a good night's sleep before their wedding" He said as they made their way to the car
"Well I am not like most girls thought you had already figured that out" She said
"Yeah I think I will spend my whole life trying to figure you out"
"Good luck with that" She said
"Btw where are we going?"
"Mujhay na bhook lagi hain dhabbay par chalay" Twinkle suggested
"I never been to a dhabba before. What if I get food poisoning?"
"Oh god itnay nakray. Tumhay toh fancy restaurants main khanay ki aadat hogi. Don't eat anything then. Hawa khana phir" She said while sitting in the passenger seat
"Very funny who eats at around 1 at the night?"
"I do not stop whining let's go" She pointed towards the staring wheel.
They had successfully made their way out of their locality now they were driving on the almost deserted roads of Amritsar.
Both of them had chosen to remain silent. As much fun as they could make of the situation that wouldn't change the fact the they were getting married in a few hours. When they had met in the fateful night in the gurduwara they never knew that they would be tied in a relationship forever. She knew he wouldn't speak up. In their brief encounters she had assessed that he was really shy. So she decided to break the silence.
"You can play songs now we are out of the neighborhood. Let me look at your playlist. Where is your phone?" She asked
"Wait why do you need my phone. Mujh par spy karnay ka acha tareeka hain" He teased her his eyes still on the road.
"Oh please Kunj Sarna apnay app ko itni importance mat do. Mujhay songs lagnay thay"
"Acha woh dashboard main padha hain" he told her
"What saray English songs tum kya bollywood movies nahi dekhtay?"
"No I have seen a few of them but I always listen to songs on YouTube or phir I am not a music person" he commented
"Another thing that's not common between us"
"I didn't know you were making a list. Is this really the place. Are you sure it's safe?" He asked after looking at the seating arrangement at the dhabba. There was no girl in sight. A few men were sipping tea and smoking.
"Don't worry Kunj koi tumhari izzat nahi lutay ga" She said dramatically and got out of the car.
He had to go after her. She should not be in a place like this alone. However his fiancee surprised him for the second time that night. She greeted everyone like old friends. They all seemed to know her. Jamal chaca the owner was scolding her for coming after a long time.
From a distance he looked at how everyone was enamored by her. Her smile would force everyone to smile with her. There was just something about her. He was lost in these thoughts when she asked him to join her.
"Wahi kharay raho gay ya idhar bhi ahao gay"
"Aha raha hun" He said
He just met her but in such a short span of time he was already falling for her.
