Here is the story i promised! so smile now
I know its short but you know me na. I am too lazy to write a long story 😃
The book store
His heart raced in anticipation or excitement or nervousness or all three, he didn't know which, as he parked his car just outside the bookstore. He had never felt so nervous just thinking about going into a bookstore before, yet here he was, standing outside the bookstore, feeling like he was going to throw up. Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the store.
Immediately thoughts of her overwhelmed him. The girl he had seen just once a few days ago raced her way into his mind, and amidst the many books she was all he saw. His eyes searched for her. They landed on the girl at the counter, who grinned at him cheekily. She raised an eyebrow, as if to say, I knew you'd be back, and I know who you're looking for. He blushed and gave her a quick smile before ducking into the safety of a bookshelf.
At least the books were less judgmental.
He browsed through the books, his eyes flitting over the titles. He tried to push her out of his mind. He tried to focus on the books.
He failed.
Every few seconds he searched her out, wondering where she was.
He glanced at his watch. He had been there for half an hour. His mom would be calling soon, to find out why he wasn't at the party yet. He wasn't in the mood for a party. Not today, at least.
He sighed.
He pulled a book off a shelf, fully intending to browse through it. (It would be positively humiliating to face the cashier again without at least pretending that he had come in to buy a book.)
But what he saw in the space the book had left made him stop. It was her. Her eyes were downcast, and though he only saw a little part of her, he knew it was her. He felt his jaw go slack. He swallowed nervously.
Now what?
She wasn't just reading the synopsis at the back of the book. No, she was reading the last chapter. It was a habit of hers, to read the first and the last chapters before deciding whether or not to buy a book. Not that she minded too much.
Although that had led her to make a couple of purchases she had come to regret'
The point was that she was absorbed in reading. So absorbed, in fact, that she didn't notice that someone hesitating at the end of the book shelf, wondering whether or not to approach her.
She only looked up when a shadow fell over the page she was reading, and she was stunned to find herself looking into a pair of amazingly brown eyes. All she could do was stare at them, stare into them, hypnotized by them.
"Hi," the owner of the eyes said softly, a nervous smile on his face.
She blinked, unsure of whether she was happy to be brought back down to reality.
"Hi," she replied, just as softly.
(Neither of them noticed the counter girl watching them, a knowing, triumphant smile on her face.)
They stood in silence for a moment, neither of them knowing where to look.
"Do you come here often?" he asked, glancing sideways at her.
She looked up at him from behind her lashes. "Yes," she admitted, giving a little laugh. "I'm an incorrigible bookworm!" She shrugged sheepishly, hugging the book.
He grinned. "Bookworms are cute."
She turned ten different shades of red, and he thought she looked rather cute when she blushed.
"I'm Kunj, by the way," he said, holding out his hand.
She smiled. "Twinkle."
"That's a nice name."
She made a face. "You don't have to pretend to like it!"
He laughed, and Twinkle felt herself blush a little more. How could someone make her feel so comfortable within two minutes of meeting her? Not to mention he was so ruggedly good-looking, with shaggy black hair and light stubble and his eyes, oh, his intense dark brown eyes. She felt like her legs were going to give way.
"Mind if I buy you that book?" he asked.
She looked at him in surprise, then glanced at the book. "Oh, no, I'm not buying it. I'm not one for romance novels," she said quickly, putting it back on the shelf.
Kunj's face seemed to fall. "Oh."
There was another moment of silence.
"Would, um, would you like to get a coffee with me then?" he tried again.
The smile on her face was unmistakably a 'yes'. She nodded. "Coffee sounds nice, but only ice-blended."
He smiled. He couldn't believe that actually worked. "I know this really good coffee place'"
As the two of them left the bookstore, the cashier stared after them, pleased that her bookstore had gotten another couple together.
