Some more questions to you
- If you were stranded on an island with our actors and as a team leader what duties would you assign?
- Your strengths and some flaws which you don't mind sharing
- What gift would you like to give Anita today for her sauciness in today's episode?
- Do u consider yourself as a feminist or a balance of traditionalism and modernity?
Aahh that makes sense. For some reason I kept thinking of a computer brand. 😆
That's totally okay! Considering the lateness of my reply, I really can't say much. 😆😆
Now onto the questions! 😃
----
1. If you were stranded on an island with our actors and as a team leader what duties would you assign?
Oohh, this is interesting. If we're talking of only the main leads then I would probably make Jasmine scout the island for ways to make contact with civilization; Zain to arrange for food and clean water while Sid would make the shelter. While they're busy with all that, I'll make sure that we are in the safest and secure place possible and ensure that we enough medical supplies to last us all in case of emergencies
2. Your strengths and flaws which you don't mind sharing.
Strengths: I am extremely confident in my writing. Not just in terms of creative writing, but in the academic field as well. I am proud of my loyalty to my friends. I am there for them any time that they may need in any shape or form. Whether it's in the academic field where they need someone to edit their work or just someone to keep company with.
Flaws: I am scared of speaking in public which is an absolutely horrible thing to think about considering I am planning on becoming a teacher. I really need to get over this. But the reasoning behind my fear of public speaking is that I feel like my opinions aren't good enough. I feel like they aren't valuable or informative/important etc. It is wrong to think like this and I have had many people share that they think the same way and it is a wrong mindset. There is no point of having opinions if you're going to keep them to yourself. Like I compare myself to here and in real life all the time. If I can voice out my opinions so easily here on a virtual platform, then why can't I do it in real life where it can be useful in my academic career. It's something that I really need to work on.
3. What gift would you like to give Anita today for her sauciness in today's episode?
Hmm.. I really don't know. For once she really didn't irritate me. I just found her absolutely hilarious. To me she has now become a character who is all talk and no action. When she was taunting Leela she came off as that friend who has no filter and they speak whatever comes to mind. 😆 Umm.. I don't know. Maybe I'll give her imported cheese? I have no idea why I'll give her that but yeah.. let's just stick with it. 🤣🤣
4. Do you consider yourself a feminist or a balance of traditionalism and modernity?
OOOHHH! Now this is a good question! Aaahh, oh my gosh, I will say I'm a feminist. Feminism is seeking equality for all regardless of the sex that a person is born with. There are elements of traditionalism that prohibits and restrains women whereas there are some elements of modernity that prohibits and restrains men.
For example, when I think of traditionalism in India, I first think of ritual sacrifices. All the different kind of harsh and vigorous elements that a woman has to go through to prove her loyalty, purity, chastity etc. Like the Karva Chauth or the now abolished ritual of the sati. Karva Chauth has now been highly romanticized to depict the woman as being a virtuous and loyal wife if she keeps it. But if she refuses then her character and her relationship with her husband is questioned. Why is that? How is starving herself going to prove how much she loves or values her husband? Why is not the man required to keep a similar fast? Nowadays we have seen a trend of a man keeping a fast for the woman. Again this is being highly romanticized and popular and the man is idolized for keeping the fast when he wasn't required to whereas no one says anything to the woman because that was her job in the first place. This is merely one example but there are so many others where there are double standards that have been created in for both men and women. These double standards are also evident in the show where Twinkle is required to go through so many rituals shortly after marriage and they all need to be performed in a certain manner or she gets severely punished. Kunj on the other hand doesn't have to do anything and watches as Twinkle gets taunted and humiliated due to the traditionalist values that his parents uphold.
Modernity is not something that I identify with either as it does have some negative connotations or a negative stereotype to it. I do not believe in forgoing all contact with religious values, historical roots or traditions. There are some values and principles that have been carried out throughout our generations that are still prevalent today. For example in Sikhism, there has been a lot of blood that has been shed in order to maintain our community. Our ancestors blood hasn't been shed to incite arrogance nor to demean others around us. Rather, we have been taught to be proud of our heritage but to humble as well. To be courageous and confident in one self since we have gone through a bad time, but that is now gone. Our ancestors went through all those hardships so that we don't have to suffer through it today. Yes, we have been persecuted and suffered at the hands of other religious groups, but that does not mean that we should be disrespectful to them. Times have changed and so have people and their ideologies and their worldview. What they had considered to be important and prevalent in the past may no longer be applicable today. So what is the point of carrying out the prejudice today? Our aim is not to spread hatred or anger. But rather to be loving and kind to all for in the end, our flesh will be one with the soil while our spirits will be with the Gurus. The Guru is the one we should aspire to be with, not to invest ourselves with any earthly materialistic objects.
Sorry I went on a little tangent there with the culture, but I as a person do not like to be labelled. The whole concept of labeling is the sole reason that we have so many divisions in this world. It's because of the divisions that we find what sets us apart rather than what unites us. Because of divisions we have hierarchies which are then manipulated into fitting various people's agendas. It is used to make certain factions rise into power while the others are suppressed and are subjected to violence and torture for merely wanting to live in peace and equality.
We're all going to die one day. I just don't see why we can't do it peacefully.
