Hi, great topic! I totally agree that this show is a breath of fresh air. For one, it is realistic. The lead character, Dhara, wears identifiable clothes rather than looking like she's attending a wedding constantly. But more importantly, she's a simple character with hopes, aspirations, feelings / emotions.
In my personal opinion, as long as you're educated, a girl, or boy should not crush their dreams/ personality to please elders / family. If your family truly loves you, they should support you as you chase and pursue your dreams. Arguing and fighting with elders/ family can be difficult, but if we're educated we can take the risk of even being thrown out on our own. I think as girls, most give in too much into the emotional need to comply to our families happiness.
Having said that, I don't even think marriage is necessarily any kind of barrier to your progress in other realms. If you meet a partner who believes in gender equality and supports you through all your responsibilities (such as housework, cooking etc) then there's nothing stopping you from achieving your dreams.
I think as girls we need the courage to rebel, and be smart enough to pick a partner who sees us as an equal in a relationship...
Just my two cents :)
