Which part in Goa, Kimaya? Am asking because I am also originally from Mapusa, Goa. Later my father settled in Pune, so I grew up in Pune. But still Goa is closer to my heart.

I am from Pernem,Goa..But the same case is with me..My grandparents settled in mumbai...So I have been born and brought up here in Mumbai..

So can you speak konkani? 😛

I can understand it well because my parents, uncles,cousins speaok, but if you ask me to speak konkani, I am afraid to speak as I feel I will make mistakes. I feel really sad (and mad at parents for not talking in konkani with me) that I couldn't continue the tradition of speaking my native language.

Same is with me.. My granny and dad can speak fluent konkani.. But as they never taught me how to speak,I could never learn (we speak marathi at home) I also feel terrible when I go to goa.. Everybody speaks in Konkani and I can't take part in their discussions :(

But I met few goans on IF..One of them was Shiv(balashiv15)...We both talk in konkani most of the time here on IF...And my Konkani has actually improved because of that..
