Does this show makes fun of south indians?

I am opening a very sensitive and probably controversial topic.

I have watching this show since the beginning and i feel that this show SOMETIMES makes fun of south indians.And the one who makes fun of them is none other than Jethalal.

I have written 'sometimes' in caps because this happens very rarely as the makers also know that they may get into trouble but the biasedness is definitely there.

Note,i am not bashing jethalal.I am talking about the makers showing stuff which might hurt south indians.

I will give u all 2 examples.In one of the episodes,Jethalal told taarak that how can iyer who is a south indian marry a beautiful girl like babita?😕 He wanted to say that iyer is ugly because he is south indian so how could he marry a beautiful girl like babita?

Yesterday i was watching the sangram singh track on tv and in one scene,Jethalal compared iyer with African people because they are dark.Now that was totally a racial comment.And then when taarak talked about rava masala dosa,jetha asked him whether he gave a new name to iyer.

These are the scenes which i remember are totally making fun of south indians.

Again i am saying,i am not bashing jethalal.I am saying that these are the typical misconceptions people have regarding south indians.It' sad that this show also shows the same misconceptions and makes fun of south indians.

First of all,idli and dosa are made all over india.Even north indians eat idli and dosa.

Secondly,not all south indians are dark.There are many fair and beautiful people in south india.

It's really sad that a show which talks about unity and national integration makes fun of south indians.

bro in my opinion it does not make fun of South Indians ( mind you am from south India too - Hyderabad) and I am also following this how rite from starting

1) first of its comedy show and Iyer Character is such, he is dark guy and he has a beautiful wife, and just to create comedy out of this character Jetha lal is always pulling leg of Iyer, nothing in offence or such.

2)on serious note they respected him for being a scientist

3) even whenever gets chance Iyer makes fun of jethalal, says he always eats too much of jelebi and fafda and all.

I Guess everything is shown in rite sprit, i find nothing wrong in it. but everyone has views, i respect your views...

I disagree. What they are showing is that despite the cultural differences and rozana ki khit pit they are always together. Jetha helps iyyer and iyyer also helps jetha but then they both agree that they hate each other.

with that logic of yours there are ample of serials where bengalis have been shown really weird. for example : chidiyaghar 😆 I am a bengali and we definitely dont talk that way. and then jetha's dressing sense. do you think gujratis wear these or do you believe they don't speak good english?so just take it easy. why jetha hates iyyer and why iyyer hates jetha is altogether a different thing.At the end of the day Babita married iyyer despite of his looks. That means, looks are not everything and jetha only refuses to believe that. Thats the character of jetha.

Spot on dey.bh...100% agree with you...even jetha and bhide make fun of each other, many times bhide says gawar hai jehta and all, and bhide is a marathi guy and jehta makes fun of him too...they pull each other legs, its part and parcel of the show;

last but not the least...there may be cultural difference, but in hour of need, each one of them help each other...!!!

@ Shanak_Fan its just a comedy show, soo don't take it in a bad sense...many of the comedy shows make fun of sardars...what do u think sardars are like that :)?

Do u think if iyer was fair like jetha ...would jetha still make fun of him ??????

I respect ur view but yes he would still make fun of him . He makes fun because he is jealous of him. He cannot understand the importance of education here. He wants to supersede iyyer but fails miserably because at last iyyer is babita's choice and he is not. Finally, here the makers shows us how looks doesn't matter and therefore if iyyer never existed babita would have never married jetha. however, jetha doesnt realise this.

right now the track is going on where a girl who is suposedly a friend of babita takes an expensive phone from jetha's showroom. Now, iyyer finds out the forgery and deliberately make this a breaking news. Now, is this moral by any standards ?But then its comedy and therefore enjoy it.

Have you read Chetan Bhagat's Two States ? opposites never really attract in real life, they collide and explode. Here it creates comedy although its not funny enough

No jetha would not make fun of iyer...if iyer was fair .
Jethalal is not that good looking to make fun of anyone...but just bcoz iyer is black jethiya thinks how can babita marry such a person.
In some old episodes even tarak joins with jetha to make fun of iyer...
Most of the time its - "how can iyer have a wife like babita"???
