Wow! What a beautiful and meaningful thread! Really made me very happy to read all about Navratri and its true meaning! Guess what I am a fellow Gujju from the UK! 🤗 Chalo Ramye Garba Ne Dandiya Gujarat Ma! I wish I could! I wont be going to garba and dandiya this year because I am at university so missing out this year! 😠But I will always pray to mataji everyday!
Navratri is one of my favourite festivals and I really wish there was more buzz here like it is in india! 😒 But me and my family really enjoy Navratri to the fullest!
1) How do you celebrate Navratri every year?
Usually every year we go and play garba and dandiya with friends and family at our local samaj or wherever we want. It is great fun and we try and go a few days mostly weekends because of the time constraints we have!
2) Are you a bigger fan of Garba or Dandiya? Well I must say I love both very much but it will have to be garba... I love two taali, three taali all of the garba dances! They are just amazing!
3) Does your family do anything special during the 9 day festival? Like fasting or anything of the sort?
Some of my family fast Navratri every year so there is a real buzz in our house. We make sure we clean the house during Navratri to welcome maa into our house! It truly is an amazing 9 days for us.
4) Do you look forward to this festival every year? Yeah! I LOVE IT! I am gutted I am missing out this year but I am always going to watch live garba on the net to make me feel at home and maybe play a bit in my room if I get into it!
5) What is the best part of Navratri for you? I think it is everything really! The dressing up, the pooja, feeling closer to maa! Playing garba and dandiya! Its just a lovely and warm festival!
6) Have you ever celebrated Navratri with any celebrities? No I wish I could though!
7) Is there a difference when it coems to Navratri in India & Navratri in the US/Canada/other countries? I think there is a difference in the way it is set out.. here in the UK garba and dandiya is played inside due to the winter weather and due to health and safety. We still play garba, dandiya etc. but in a more basic style... in india you guys are more adventurous with your styles! We all play together and it is great fun!
8) Your favorite part of the festival? Everything I cant say one thing.. but for sure one thing is feeling closer to maa! The feeling inside when Navratri is here is so special! I feel blessed to be her devotee.
9) Your favorite Navratri song if you have any? Ooo I love a lot but it has to be kum kum kera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWU-IuIg5wM10) What has been your most memorable Navratri & why? Every Navratri is very special to me and I cherish each one as maa's blessings on me. Edited by Tacker_Holic - 11 years ago
