CHAPTER 12
The preperations for the wedding was in full swing. With only around 10 days left for the wedding Swara and Ragini decided to complete the wedding shopping that weekend. Ragini's wedding dress had already been chosen but the clothes for the other events and clothes for the other family members remained. Since the bride and groom were to wear colour coordinated clothes the Maheshwaris were supposed to join them at the mall. Swara knew this was her best chance to talk to Sanskaar
She didn't want to do it with Rishi around. She feared that either Rishi or Sanskaar may lose it and she didn't want any problem in Ragini's wedding. Fortunately that too had been settled. Rishi had decided not to join them stating that he didn't have enough patience to go shopping with a bunch of women.
Lakshya, Sanskaar, Uttara and Pari joined them at the mall. Swara realized that she would have to wait for a good opportunity to get Sanskaar alone. Soon they were all looking at piles of dresses.
"Di, look at this lehenga. It will look really good on you. " Ragini said showing her a golden lehenga.
Swara took it from her and as she held the dress in her hand she remrmbered a moment from years ago and smiled to herself.
**flashback ***
Swara stood thinking her eyes on the numerous dresses spread out on her bed. Sanskaar who walked into the room smiled seeing her thoughtful face.
"Kya hua Shona? " he asked an arm around her waist.
"Sunny, its good you are here. Help me. Tomorrow we have a celebration at college and have to wear something traditional. I dont know which of these to wear. " she told him.
He looked around at the dresses.
"All of these dresses will look gorgeous on you. But this one will look most radiant, my queen. " he said handing her the golden dress.
"Really? " she asked smiling.
"Yes. It is simple yet elegant, cute yet graceful, innocent yet enticing. Just like you. " he said pulling her closer.

She reflexively turned to Sanskaar and saw a smile creep up his lips. Was he thinking about it too?
"Ragu, lets see more clothes and then decide. " she said.
Sanskaar too seemed to come out of a trance. Just then his phone rang. He answered the call and spoke barely a word or two .
"Lucky, you stay here. I have a important call to make. I will be back soon. " he said leaving them.
Swara knew this was her cue. She waited for a few minutes. Then she said
"Ragu I have a headache. You guys continue. I will be back in a few minutes. "
Ragini insisted on accompanying her but she convinced Ragini she was okay and slipped away. Once outside she started looking for Sanskaar. She knew he loved coffee. She started looking around for him in the cafeteria but he wasn't in any of the cafeteria on that floor.
She went down to the ground floor. A little later she caught sight of him. He was having coffee.She was right about that atleast. She went ahead to join him but stopped when she saw that he wasnt alone. Someone was sitting opposite him and they seemed to be chatting happily. Like good old friends. On his face was that smile which had made her name him Sunny.
She went a little further and hid herself behind a pillar trying to see who it was. It was a woman. She was dressed in traditional Bengali attire but Swara couldn't see her face as she had her back to Swara. They talked a little longer and then Sanskaar paid the bill. They came out together.
Swara felt weird. What would Sanskaar think if he saw her here? Why on earth was she trying to see who the woman was? Why did she want to know? She didn't want him to think she was still obsessed with him. She decided to go back to Ragini. She could find another chance to talk to him.
"Bye Sanky. " she heard the woman say.
Unable to resist it she turned around to see the woman. Swara felt dumbstruck as she beheld the face. It was years since she saw that face but she would never forget it. After all it was a woman she had once thought she wanted to be like.
Kavita Roy.
Swara held on to the pillar for support. Kavita was alive. Well and alive. Her eyes caught the mangalsutra Kavita wore and zindoor smeared lavishly in her parting. Kavita was alive and married. But she wasn't married to Sanskaar. And Sanskaar was meeting her casually.
What could this mean? Was she even his girlfriend? Had everything Sanskaar told her been a lie? She had always told herself that no matter what he had done to her, Sanskaar was a good man. She had even reasoned that he had left her because he felt no girl could ever be able to take Kavita s place in his life. His love for Kavita had been the beginning of her feelings for him. But even that had been a lie. Now there was nothing to talk about. She was disgusted at the sight of him.
Waving goodbye to Kavita, Sanskaar turned around to go back to his family. He saw Swara standing a little away. The shock etched in her features and the disgust in her eyes showed him clearly that she had seen him with Kavita and as always misinterpreted the situation. He had to explain things to her. She had wronged him and he was angry with her for that. But still he wanted to tell her about Kavita because he had always been loyal to Swara.
"Swara " he said in a soft voice moving towards her.
Swara turned around and walked away. He tried to call her but shedidn't listen. She returned to the shop as quickly as she could.
"Di look at these dresses. I picked these for you. You can choose. " Ragini said.
"Ragu, I am not choosing now. I think I will come shopping with Rishi. We have to get clothes for him anyway. " Swara told her.
"You want to wear clothes of his choice. That's romantic. " Uttara said excited.
Swara saw Sanskaar glare at her, fire smoldering in her eyes. She felt a prick of pain and happiness as she saw that.
Soon after the shopping the sisters left for home. They were both silent on their journey home. Ragini felt something was wrong. She had sensed something between Swara and Sanskaar as they came back. Swara had returned first, closely followed by Sanskaar. Something had changed when they came back but she didn't know what. Was she imagining it?
Once they were home Ragini started showing her grandmothers the clothes while Swara left to meet Rishi in a hurry. She saw him sitting there with his guitar. She went in and sat on the bed.
"Are you ok Swara ?" Rishi asked.
"Yes. I wanna ask you something. " she said.
"What is it? " he asked confused .
"Will you marry me?" She asked quietly.
