I am happy to see that you enjoy Ragini's story.
Lakshya might or might not be redeemed, I am still unsure of that.
Thank you for your continued support!

I concur, I really do miss the old Ragini. The manipulative, conniving girl on screen makes me a little sick.
Thank you for your feedback :)

Hello friends,
I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and feedback.

Part 4

Swara couldn't explain the elation she felt when she heard that Sanskaar was here to see her. She filed that feeling away to mull over at a later time. She tried desperately to fight off the wide grin on her face as she flew down the stairs.

However, she didn't need to wonder why her stomach dropped as she entered the sitting room. Standing next to her husband was the current bane of her existence; Lakshya.

"Hi Sanskaar." She greeted. "Lakshya." She added with a little more derision. "Aap dono yahan? Itni subah?"

"It's nice to see you Swara." Lakshya greeted happily.

Swara ignored him and looked to Sanskaar who acknowledged her with a nod and nothing else. Her stomach dropped further at this. "Lucky, I still think you need to drop this idea." He looked exasperated as he tried to deter his brother from whatever mission he seemed to be on this time.

"No Bhai. We've spoken about this already. I am getting her to sign these papers." Lakshya stated determined.

"You need to back off Lucky and give her some time." Sanskaar tried to reason.

"What papers?" Swara asked, looking curiously between the arguing brothers.

"Divorce papers." Sanskaar deadpanned.

For a moment Swara thought she had misheard. But there it was in his hands. A legal looking document with the words divorce' Lakshya Maheshwari' and Ragini Maheshwari' jumping out of the page at her.

"You have got to be kidding me Lakshya."

"Kidding? The joke's on me Swara. Every time I try and get that girl out of my life she does some new drama."

"This isn't a drama. Ragini has actually lost her memory. It's obviously very confusing for her right now. She needs our help, and you're doing all this?" Swara felt her voice escalating at every word, feeling immeasurably frustrated with this situation and this pig-headed man.

"I can't believe you are falling for her lies again. You almost died because of her. Have you forgotten that she drugged you, pushed you into a river, and manipulated all of lives? This time if she gets her way, who knows what heinous thing she will do? This is nothing but a sick game for her and I refuse to be a part of all this."

Swara was a very calm and non-violent person, but at this moment she had to trample down the desire to slap Lakshya silly. "Are you crazy Lakshya! What is wrong with you?"

"Why Swara? If she is faking it, then she already knows this is coming. And if she isn't faking this, as you claim, then none of this will matter to her anyways! I want her off my back!"

Swara thought back to her little lost lamb. That Ragini was always burdened down by traditions and expectations. How could one explain to her everything that transpired? "Ragini is sick, Lakshya. She needs us. She doesn't know what's going on. We can't shock her like this."

Lakshya was adamant. "Ragini is not the fragile doll you all think. She is a twisted Witch with an innocent face. You thought the same thing last time Swara and you saw what happened, what she did. I want her out of my life before she does it again!"

"We have to give Ragini the benefit of the doubt this time Lucky. Just give her one chance." Sanskaar, ever sensible Sanskaar tried to reason. But reason, it seemed, was beyond Lakshya today. "My decision is final Bhai. Come hell or high water I am getting her to sign these papers." He retorted, almost petulantly.

Swara took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Getting upset wouldn't achieve anything. She needed to calmly explain that the Ragini that currently occupying this house didn't deserve to be punished for things that she didn't know she had done. Arguing with Lakshya usually didn't get them anywhere.

Swara turned in surprise when she heard her sister speak. "What are the papers? I'll sign them."

Oh no. She was hoping to avoid this conversation with Ragini, expecting to somehow placate Lakshya and send him away.

Ragini looked between the three of them with wide, apprehensive eyes, waiting for some kind of explanation.

"Ragini..." She started a desperate attempt to diffuse the situation, but was cut off by Lakshya. "Welcome Madam." He greeted her sarcastically, making Ragini frown in confusion at his tone. "Sirf tumhari hi kami thi."

Ragini uncomfortably made her way across the room to her side. "What are the papers Swara?"

"They're our divorce papers." Lakshya stated.

Swara cringed at his callousness. She saw Ragini's eyes glaze over for a moment as the younger girl processed this information. "Oh." She muttered. "Okay."

Lakshya placed the papers down on a table in front of them and handed Ragini a pen. Ragini gingerly took the pen, looking between it and the papers sitting in front of her.

Ragini was biting her lip in hesitation. "Should I sign?" She whispered the question. Her heart went out once again to this girl, who had never been allowed to make a single independent decision about her own life. How could Lakshya not take pity on her? She exchanged glances with Sanskaar. He too seemed as concerned about Ragini as she. Did he also recognize the innocent girl he had once manipulated for his own devices?

Lakshya scoffed in impatience. "Sign the papers Drama Queen, and let's get this charade over with."

Ragini looked down at the papers in question and saw that He had already signed them and they were dated two days ago; the day before her accident. This meant that their relationship was already hurtling towards a speedy end. This was just the final nail in the coffin really.

She didn't feel any sadness over her failing relationship. She certainly didn't feel a sense of loss where the Man in Blue was concerned.

Her hesitance came from the idea of divorce. It was such a big step. Such a final, uncrossable chasm between two people. How did it come to this between him and her? What had they done to try and salvage the relationship? Had they even tried to salvage it? What had happened that lead to this?

What did her family think of this? Did they know? Were they disappointed in her? Had she done everything in her power to uphold their honour? How would they face society after this? In their community, divorce was unheard of. Marwari children married per their parents' wishes, and made the relationship work, no matter what. Would her failure to maintain her relationship be seen as a flaw in their upbringing?

Ragini glanced up and saw all the family elders standing at the edge of the room, watching the scene stoically.

"Sign the papers Laddo." Dadi Maa instructed her. "That is what's correct."

"How can you say that Dadi? She doesn't know what she's doing." Swara argued.

But it was too late. Ragini, on instruction, had signed her name at the appropriate spot.

Swara heard Lakshya honk the car horn a couple of times in impatience but she didn't care, she was talking to her husband.

"I tried to stop him this morning, we all did. Maa and Bade Papa tried to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen." Sanskaar explained remorsefully.

"His name wouldn't be Lakshya if he had actually listened." Swara muttered.

Her cheeks warmed at Sanskaar's low chuckle. She hadn't meant for him to hear that. But oh, was it ever nice to see him smile again.

"What's going to happen now Sanskaar?"

"If I know Lucky, and I do." He stated wryly, making her smile. "We are heading straight for the lawyer's office to file those papers." Sanskaar hesitated a moment before he spoke further and Swara could sense his struggle. "The lawyer also has our divorce papers on hand." His eyes searched hers as he spoke. "Obviously, I haven't signed them. What do you want to do?"

Well, that was certainly the question, wasn't it? What did she want to do?

Going back to Lakshya was out of the question. Not only because he was her sister's husband, but because this whole debacle had taught her that Lakshya could not be the man she wanted in her life. The man who didn't trust her, who made petty and vicious attacks, who spoke of love but never followed through, was not for her. At some point she had probably loved him, or thought she had loved him in some twisted sense, but all she felt for him now was contempt and pity.

But Sanskaar. Here was perfect, amazing Sanskaar. She couldn't keep using him for her own devices again and again.

Sanskaar obviously saw her struggle and took pity on her. "I don't need an answer right away Swara. You bought us some time yesterday, so take your time and make your decision. There is no hurry."

Something hurt in Swara's heart when Sanskaar supported her so unconditionally. "I'm so sorry Sanskaar. You deserve so much better than this." She felt her eyes misting over. Why was she always so unfair to him?

"Hey." He called, as he cradled her shaking hand in his solid, steady grip, running his thumb over her knuckles soothingly, getting her attention again. "You don't get to decide what I deserve Swara. Only I get to decide that."

How? How could this man be so good? How could he be so selfless and loving? What had she ever done to deserve someone like him in her life?

Sanskaar released her hand and turned to head towards his brother waiting in the car.

Swara panicked in that moment and held his wrist to stop him. Sanskaar turned to her curiously, an eyebrow rose in question. "Rip up those papers Sanskaar."

She waited with baited breath for something. Some kind of reaction, some kind of Sanskaar-esque sarcastic deadpan comment, something. But he just started at her silently. Finally, that one eyebrow climbed higher in question. "Do you mean that?"

"Yes." She replied instantly, surprising even herself for a moment. "I know I spoke about a second chance yesterday because of Lakshya, but I really want to give our relationship an honest-to-god chance Sanskaar." Swara, hit with a sudden fear of rejection, bit her lip and lowered her eyes to her feet. "That is, if you'll have me."

Sanskaar cupped her face gently and raised her head so she was looking at him again. He was smiling like a kid at Christmas and it warmed her heart. "I will always have you Swara, in any capacity that you will allow." He murmured gently, caressing the apple of her cheek.

Swara stared into his happy eyes and felt that same happiness spread through her.

She was brought out of this trance by the impatient honking of Lakshya's car. Sanskaar glanced at the source of the noise in annoyance. "I should go. I will call you." He said with promise, and with a light squeeze to her fingers, he was gone.

Lovely. ...thoroughly enjoyed it. ..felt so bad for ragini when she signed after dadi ma's instructions. ..

one request. ...this is your story but please could you make ragini a bit strong capable of taking her own decisions. ...and if it's lakshya ragini jodi in your story then make lakshya fall for ragini genuinely and ragini playing hard to get...n she should make lakshya taste his own medicine before giving in...
