Colors scored gross viewership of 360 million in Week 34, even as four of its shows were among the top 5 shows on Hindi GECs. Star Plus secured gross viewership of 359 million

Week 34 (August 22 -August 28) of BARC ratings saw a change in the leadership position among the Hindi GECs.
According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Week 34 : Individuals : BARC India base - C&S 1Lac+) for Hindi GECs, Colors surged to the top spot with gross viewership of 360 million. The channel had posted gross viewership of 365 million in Week 33.
This is the first time that Colors has claimed the No. 1 position ever since BARC ratings were introduced.

Star Plus, which has led the Hindi GECs for a long time, slipped to the second position in Week 34 with gross viewership of 359 million. Last week, Star Plus has posted gross viewership of 387 million. With a narrow gap separating the top two channels, it will be interesting to see whether Colors is able to hold on to its leadership position next week.
Zee TV was placed third with gross viewership of 264 million, while Life OK was fourth with gross viewership of 224 million.

Among the leading shows on Hindi GECs, Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya' topped the list with 6.6 TVM. The next four programmes all belonged to Colors with Sasural Simar Ka' getting 5.4 TVM, while Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi' returned into the top five, taking the third spot with 5.3 TVM. Swaragini' fetched 5.3 TVM, but was marginally behind Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi'. Udaan' was at fifth position with 5.2 TVM. Not a single show from Star Plus featured among the top 5 shows in Week 34.

BARC week 34: Colors topples Star Plus to capture numero uno slot in Hindi GECs

Toppling the market leader Star Plus in the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) genre, Colors secured the leadership position in week 34 with 360494 (000 Sums), according to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India ratings.
Star Plus stood at the second spot with 359509 (000 Sums). On the other hand, Zee TV and Life OK held the third and fourth position with 264237 (000 Sums) and 224264 (000 Sums) respectively. Sab grabbed the fifth position with 186090 (000 Sums) in week 34.
Zee TV's prime time show Kumkum Bhagya topped the list with 6576 (000 Sums).

Four of Colors' shows made it to the top five chart in week 34. While Sasural Simar Ka grabbed the second position with 5438 (000 Sums), Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi with 5365 (000 Sums) was in the third slot. Swaragini and Udaan secured fourth and fifth place with 5300 (000 Sums) and 5243 (000 Sums) respectively.
