Holla folks! For the first time ever, I'm here with an OS. Tried to keep it simple and straightforward, courtesy all the complications in the ongoing story. Hope you'll like it!
Karan held the brochure tightly in his glove cladded hands. Suddenly, he felt beads of perspiration appear on his face. Oh, what a tough task it was! On a side note, life has presented the simplest of things to him in the most complicated manners so it was a routine to feel confused and awkward. But today, the situation was slightly, no, majority different. Today, it wasn't about him - it was about them. Yes, he and his best friend of all times and seasons. He raised his left hands to knock on the door on his room. His fingers curved up to press against the door but then he stopped. Wait, was he knocking his room to enter, his own room? He took a deep breath and clasped the door knob in a tight grip but presto! It clicked all by itself and turned and opened to reveal Naina emerging out of the Room.
"Aree Karan! Tum yahan kyun khade ho!? Aur woh..?", She had spotted that paper in his hand. Like a kid, he instantly folded his hand behind the back.
After taking a deep breath to calm his anxiety and consciousness, he held her hand and took her inside the room.
"Baitho yahan", he made her sit on the bed and started to speak. "Jabse tum iss ghar mein aayi ho, tabse ya toh tumne mera gussa dekha Hai yaa phir Meri bimaari. Par ab, main badalna chahta hoon. Aur isiliye hum, hum, hum... Ek mini vacation par ja rahein hain! Only you and me", he smiled after his long delivery of words. It was difficult to say if Naina was blowed by his enthusiasm or awed of his innocence or just fond of his sweet thought.
She stood up, chirping and bubbling. "Par hum jaa kahan rahein hain?"
"Surprise, my friend! Surprise!", He told excitedly as he went off to inform his Mom that her plan was on and they were off soon to the hidden destination.
A few days later...
"Aree ab toh bata do!", Naina groped in dark as her blindfold obstructed her vision of the surroundings. "Just a minute!"
He was excited to see her reaction. Never in these 6 months had he expected to do something special for her, to make her realise what she meant to him and a simple gesture to appreciate her efforts. He himself didn't realise when arose the need to surprise her with this plan. It hadn't emerged out of nowhere, it was Naina's constant efforts that brought him out of his shell and energised him to open his own music company which also taught young orphans.
"Naina, aankhein kholo", he removed her blindfold and ahead of them, stood a breathtaking view. They were on a hill top. The cliff jutted over a river filled with sparkling moonlight. The moon was brilliantly shining in the glowing night sky. The silence of the enclosure was rhythmic with sweet interjections of nocturnal forest sounds. A few feet away was a small table for two. A candle, some plates and small tent made of silk curtains. This was something she hadn't even dreamt of, let alone imagining Karan doing this for her. She's always supported him, cared for him, respected him. But today was different. The serene setting which was also strikingly simple, attracted and pleased her.
Before she spoke, Karan informed her it was the backside of the national park near Jaipur, where he'd arranged these things for a confession he'd to make.
Naina was made to sit down as Karan played the guitar for her. Naina was simply staring in the ravine below and taking in the faint smell of wild flowers.
"Main soch Bhi nahi Sakti thi ki tum yeh sab plan karoge", she told dreamily.
"Well, kisine yeh bhi nahi socha tha ki yeh nalaayak Karan apni zindagi Mein kuch Kar dikhaayega"
Naina laughed and blushed. Today, he'd all the time to notice her fragile smile and glowing cheeks. Until now, he'd only shouted at her or narrated her his grief. Never had he made her smile and thanked her enough for all her care and love which she incessantly showered on him.
He'd realised this when the interviewers had asked him this question on the launch of his album : Who would he like to credit the success that he'd achieved? That day, he'd happily replied that it was his family who'd helped him rise but later, he thought that Naina was someone who's always been with him from Day 1. Never had she shied away from his anger, insults or his weaknesses. She'd been the guiding light in his dark life, the firefly in his lonely storeroom and the moon of his success.
"Naina...", He began holding her soft hands..
"Thankyou Meri life Mein aane ke liye. Thankyou, mere gusse ko samajhne ke liye. Thankyou Meri bimaari par daya nahi dikhaane ke liye. Thankyou, mujhe apna dost banane ke liye. Thankyou, mujhe khudse Pyaar Karna sikhaane ke liye"
That night, the nature celebrated Karan's gratitude and Naina's happiness. That night, was the dawn of a brewing relation, the morning of a new era and the birth of something that went beyond friendship and eternity.
