Chapter 3: Zor ka Jatka
Today when I thought about making an update here for My Friend's Fiance, I was wondering that how things keep changing. As in how once I used to be so active in this forum, but here you go today life has made things way to complicated. Life has become busy and it seems a bit too hard to even find sometime for updating my previous works, let alone chat and interact with my readers and most of all my super awesome buddies. Thats exactly why I thought about this new style of writing, well I was thinking along with the updates I would interact with my readers. Confused? Something like through out the update I will also try to convey what I feel about the various characters and also try to associate the situations that happen in the FF with my real life experiences, may be that it will be interesting. Well I am not sure how well it will work out...please after reading this update please do let me know if you would not mind me continuing my updates this way.
Okay ya, so talking about Friends...Yes, we all make friends but then sometimes due to various reasons we are separated from them. So was the case with Annie and Suvreen. They were once upon a time, the best of friends who would be next each other every second, but today one lived in London while the other in Amritsar. The very same activities of life had separated them, but then there is this one fact about friendship, no matter how far you are you still remain connected with your pals through your heart.
Here in Singh Mansion, things seemed different. There really was no heart to heart link. Everything seemed business. When in the evening Abhilash, Mithali and Yuvraj met in the table for dinner, things took the unexpected turns for Yuvraj.
Abhilash: Yuvraj, so how was your day beta?
Yuvi: Hmmm... It was good dad, just like how it is every day. How come all of a sudden, you are taking interest in my life? (coldly)
Mithali: Yuvraj, that is seriously not how you should be talking to your dad. That's exactly why it is now time that you understood your responsibilities.
Yuvi: Responsibilities? What do you mean by responsibilities?
Abhilash: I want you to get married now, Yuvraj.
Yuvi: (shocked) marriage? now?
Mithali: Yes, Mr. Singh is right. It is like high time now, that you get married.
Yuvraj was struck... What could he do? He could object but then, he knew that Abhilash could go to any extent to convince him. He was a business man after all and he very well knew how to get things done. He did not want it to turn out to be a nasty affair.
Here on the other hand, Annie could not bear not eating for the whole day. Her house was decorated beautifully with lamps and flowers everywhere. It looked amazing... there were guests gathered from the Indian Society. All looked very high class. You know what festivals are according to me? They are simply a reason for people to meet, to interact, socialize, have fun together. May be something like traditional parties.
Annie slowly walked down wearing an elegant peach colored saree, the one that Suvreen had selected for her to wear, the very same one which she had worn last for the graduation. She looked very stylish and pretty. As she was walking down, she observed the different chatting groups formed in her house. First was the senior citizen group which was headed by her Dadi, they were the women who discussed the various television serials, the dharmik bajans and so on. Second, was the womens era group, which was headed by Annie's Mom. It was a mom's gathering, where they discussed about the latest jewelery desgins, which actress is going out with who, which neighbourhood girl is going out with who and like wise... Third was the Business class, headed by Annie's Dad. Hardly anyone could hear this group talking, half of them had the same stern expression throughout the gathering. They discussed the regular boring business world. Then the fourth group was the Gossip Girl group or Page 3 group... This was formed by all youngsters of Annie's age, all snobish girls, discussing their love life, discussing fashion and all nonsense. This would not interest Annie because though she was modern, but hated being snobbish. The last group was Annie;s favourite the Chillar Party group.. all the small kids where running around playing and this was exactly what Annie liked.
Annie walked down and ran towards the chillar party groups. All women gave a look towards Annie, who did not seem to have noticed anyone.
Mrs. Malhotra: Arey Rajjo (annie's Mom) Annie putar is looking very pretty today.
Mrs. Sharma: Haan ji Haan ji... very pretty... very pretty...
Giggles ran among them...The senior citizen group did not stay quiet either:
Dadi Malhotra: Arey wah behanji..your pothi tho looks perfect.. and look at my pothi, one good for nothing she is. Look at the dress she is wearing.. huh... :/
Annie's mom and dadi were feeling proud. Though women are the ones who fight and quarrel the most in any family, but they are the ones who actually love each other the most, may it saas-bahu, maa-beti, dadi-pothi or bahbhi-nand. They exchanged happy smiles for a split of second and then returned to their regular pouting.
Someone from the Corporate group spoke, while the gossip girl group were staring at Annie angrily.
Mr. Seghal's Friend: Mr. Seghal, I think you should start thinking about Annie's marriage.
The whole room fell silent. Each group were not introspecting on this. Annie who heard this, stood up dramatically "What? Marriage?" and she fainted...
Hahahaha... Zor ka jatka, haiye zoron se laga... Shadi ban gayi umarkaid ki saza...Hahaha... Exactly.. but here the Jatka was due to the word Marriage or the warat, no one knew.. all in the hall rushed towards...
Two souls are stuck up with marriage... How will they handle it??
