Ya Hemu, Actually I had a transfer in my office and had to suddenly move to a different city and whole lot of stuff. I was reading all the stories but was unable to respond on them
Anyway I am a bit free now and am willing to start the story tonight. Not sure how it would go as you people are great writers.
And yes even I feel that Dury had genuine feelings for this friend, or else there were many in Dury's army and they did not have his friendship, still they sided with him. This list includes Krishna ji's army too (which remember was very righteous). Had Dury not extended his friendship to him but just gave him a position in his army, Karna still would have been duty bound to him. So this theory that he needed a support is just illogical.
Maybe Dury was bad, but no where it is written that a bad person can not be a friend.
If Dury wanted Karna just as counter to Arjun, he would have accepted Bheesma decision of Karna not participating in the war. Remember Bheeshma had no choice but to fight as he was bound to serve the throne. He could have just not said no to Dury (through Dritarashtra's) decision to participate in the war
