Indrani Halder
Actress

rekha > What do you think Bengali films or Hindi Films which is more serious and genuine cinema?
indrani > Both the films are very sensitive. In Indian cinema the scenario has changed a lot regional films in last 10 yrs have been very sensitive the subjects were sensitive in Bollywood too people are making sensitive films...

tanvi > Hi Indrani ,how was experience working for small screen
indrani > I am a product of small screen only I first joined acting thru TV only. In 1986 when TV was just interviewed and soaps have started happening perhaps we were the first group of actors in TV so I am basically born from TV. I had a soft corner for TV always and when I started doing films from 1989 I never left TV ,I never erased TV from my life, I always used to associate myself with at least one daily soap and short films made in TV in Bengali. I have almost done 30-35 short films in TV and which has gone to different festivals all over the world for short films categories I have won many awards too for that apart from my films. I am doing TV because in Bengal people who are watching TV are extremely sensitive audience for that matter. In Bengali TV concepts are very rich and performance level is extremely good. As people are very particular about this the producer and directors experiments a lot. Like concepts that no one can risk of making films are serials in Bengali TV.

yogita > Who is your favorite director
indrani > In Bengal I have worked with everybody like Buddhdev Das Gupta, Rituparna Ghosh, I have worked very less in Bollywood only with a few like Mr Ravi Chopra , Vasudev Chatterjii.. I would love to work with all directors making a sensitive films I would love to work with them. I have liking for sensitive directors since its is my genre .I have liked work of Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashutosh Gowrikar, Subash Ghai, Kunal Kohli...Ajay Devgan id a wonderful diretor since I liked U , Me... a lot.

shikha > Which is your favorite role that you have done so far?
indrani > Well I have done many good roles in my life but my favorite being Dahan which is by Rituparno Ghosh's film . The character I played is Jhiluk. She is a very contemporary, modern Indian woman which is very different from Sujata. and now I am liking Sujata very much because it is so very different from what I have done in last 20 yrs. and in Bengal people are so very used to see me in bold roles peolpe are asking me when will Sujata start the revolt..... door mat kaab tab baneegi sujata....!!

raksha > Hi Indrani tell us about your role in Sujata? How do you think its different from the all the roles you have done till date
indrani > Sujata is definitely an Indian woman, Indian housewife but the different is Sujata is very timid , she is too good, she never raises her voice, Sujata has one thing in life that is her family for the sake of her family she can go to any extent she can sacrifice herself for her family and this is the scenario of every Indian woman how I find Sujata different is that I have never done such a soft role in my career I have always done roles of woman who fights for her rights, society and sujata is not like that. She is not bothered about her identity. She is more of a mother, wife than more of a woman. Peolpe may say that woman these days are not like Sujata but I feel that even today where people walk 20kms for water , electricity is not there, there exist woman like Sujata. All Indian women are not working women who don't raise their voice, and that is why Sujata is made. it is not showing how weak Indian woman is but showing Indian Heritage i.e. to take care of family keeping herself at every stake.

farookh > Hi Indrani please tell us how different is Sujata from the other Saas Bahu serials??
indrani > Sujata is different because we are showing practical problems happening in our daily life may be small small issues like once she got two tickets and she assumes that they are for her and her husband but the second one was not in her name and she got the shock of her life knowing the truth...we are showing things happening in our daily life and not above the life and characters look real which is very important...

himani > How do you think a woman can relate herself with the character of Sujata??
indrani > I would say that Sujata is very real you will start feeling it as if it's a story of your home. Woman can relate, in every house there is a Sujata whether you except or you don't. I being a working woman do a few things for my family they take me for granted at times. I do feel these problems inside me partly. The pain the sacrifice we do for our family they leave their parents for others adjusting with the new family and men don't ... we woman are taking care of the adjusting part...

sapna > What made you choose Sujata over other TV Serials?
indrani > First thing is Mr Ravi Chopra I respect him a lot . I have done one mythological serial with him Maa Shakti ... I played all the goddesses. Sujata is different from all the roles I have done till date. It is soft and what actually I am. He told me that I will rock in this role. Sujata has got different age groups in one show...from my college days till my middle age they show all the ages in one show.Sony is such a big channel I always wanted to work with Sony...

amit > Which is the one role you wish you would have done??
indrani > Well it would definitely be Parineeta , I cud have done that . Mona liza smile I love to do Julia Roberts role in that....

sumit > An actor you would love to work with??
indrani > I would love to work with Pioneer actor Amitabh....and SRK , because we have one similarity that we both we were born from TV..

pooja > How different is acting in Films from acting in Serials. Which one do you enjoy the most and why?
indrani > Well acting is almost the same but the different is the approach.. In Films people get more time to prepare yourself and in TV we don't get much of time. In films we can get to details of a characters but not in TV since we are always in rush to go to the next scene. Actors hardly get time to think you just have to keep on performing.

chinkie > What according to you is the essential ingredient to become a successful actor
indrani > Very important is your commitment, your responsibility, your sincerity, its very easy to become famous but difficult is to maintain it u got to have balance in your life....only with balance in your life you can sustain....one have to have a passion for their job...

sidd > Which is the most memorable moment while shooting for the serial?
indrani > Memorable moment was the scene when everyone forgot my birthday and in real life that was my anniversary day and both me and my husband both forgot to wish each other...

suchit > What are the things that you consider now while taking up a role?
indrani > Many factors like the role has to say some message to the audience the subject should have some power...sensitive and proper message for the audience.

ralli > What is the best compliment that you have ever received?
indrani > Best compliment that my eyes are nice and speaks, very expressive which is helping me a lot in Sujata because she expresses more and talks less..

jitesh > What are your upcoming projects
indrani > Sujata is what I am concentrating on and two three Bengali films that too only in September and October.

SUBRATA > You are much more talented but why are you doing or you have done more of regional cinema don't you think that was a kind of injustice to your talent, but at last you got some offers from serial makers catering to the national audience and world over? How does that feels?
indrani > That is why I have picked it up I think I am mature enough now and all credit goes to my husband who gave me all the support to settle down in Mumbai myself...

SUBRATA > I am one of your fan, Mumbai may be highly professional field and techinically they are much more equipped but what are the main problems you are facing in comparison to Tollywood?
indrani > Much people doesn't know me here, channel people are a big support .. I am very new here they didn't know how to handle me... but there is not much difference. People respect me here also. Working With BR people is not new to me.

Signoff Message >
