Although I have been a member of IF for a few years, I do not post often. Usually only when I really like something or have a strong opinion on something. Or to post OS'.
I am a bit confused as to the direction of this show...
Some characters (Soumya, Dadi, Rags) are fine. I hate them as i'm meant to - the CV's portray them well enough (or to the best of the actresses abilities). They are villains and they play their roles well enough-ish. The point is I understand what I am meant to be feeling when I see them onscreen.
Pratima, Lata, Pankaj - again I don't agree with their choices but I understand (to a degree) what these characters are meant to be portraying. Parents who made choices for their kids thinking they knew what was best. I guess this is supposed to emphasise the whole "mother knows best" thing. Again, I don't agree, but I understand where they stand in this drama.
Menka - I'm unsure here... People say she isn't bad she is stupid, but stupidity isn't an excuse for doing bad things. Menka creates trouble which amuses us, but that doesn't make her good or even neutral. Perhaps if the CV's showed her doing some good along with her trouble making I would understand her a bit better... As it is I think she should be punished along with her Jiji.
Anuj, Saurabh - Whats there to say here... Apparently Yuvraj trusts his cousin and mother but not his own brothers... These two could be replaced with plants most of the time and it wouldn't really impact me too much. Perhaps its because I watch a lot of UK/USA shows, but do the CV's know that shows can be layered? i.e. you can have more than one story line and these can entwine? Why not use these two for another storyline? It would detract from what we're currently seeing. Which brings me to...
Yuvraj, Suhani - Try as I might, I struggle to connect to these two. Sometimes I can, then they do something completely out of character and I think "maybe they have twins wondering around and the CV's are filming both sets." Suhani's moping is understandable, she's heartbroken. For some reason she's decided to punish herself by staying in BH. Her behaviour is by no means excusable, but, in the land of Indian TV, it makes some sense (abandon all logic ye who enter here).
Yuvraj however... This isn't a hero. Everything i want to say, has been said by better writers (Clarity in particular hits the nail on the head), and even for Indian TV this is shocking. Putting his Dadi and Ma first is normal on StarPlus, but we've now decided that redeeming a villain comes before wives? Really? This is actually what people are happy to see?
Once I watched this show and was quite enraptured by it. I looked forward to watching it and wrote a few OS' because it spoke to me, it was different. Im enjoying the show now to watch Rags and Soumya... Im not interested in the love story.
Im sure this is where a disclaimer goes... Where I am supposed to apologise for offence caused but I won't. Im not apologising for my opinions, they are mine to express. I do, however, respect those who have different opinions to my own, and look forward to you expressing them.
