Part 11

Yuvraj observed Suhani as she stood in front of him lost in her own world, he felt a strange kind of worry engulf him, was he that late that she no longer loved him... no longer wanted him? Was he that late? The fear of not having her in his life made his hold on her tight, making Suhani look at him. They stood like that for few moments, the atmosphere was dark and quiet with a mild chilly wind.

"What is love without trust Yuvraj?" she asked, surprising him. "I don't trust you, I want to but I can't..." she moved back, slipping away from his grip. Suhani smiled, a sad and slight smile, "Our marriage..." she paused, meeting his inquisitive gaze, "When I came to your house as a daughter in law... as your wife... I had so many dreams, expectations... like everyone Yuvraj I didn't get what I exactly expected or dreamt of but I was never disappointed... never unhappy..." She gave an honest and full smile,

"Do you know why?" he shook his head negatively, "Because I thought you loved me, and for me that was enough," her smile faded, "when you scolded me, I thought it's because you cared for me, when we fought I thought it's ok because we had the right on each other. So many things happened, so many complaints, punishments and problems... I never gave up because I wanted to fit in... make you happy, for me that was love... I think it still is, pyar abh bhi hai Yuvraj, but is it so strong that I would come back there and fight to fit in all over again?" she shook her head, "No Yuvraj, that is not what I want, being out of the house, talking to so many people... seeing people live happily as a family... all these has changed me... pariwaar kya hota hai Yuvraj? I know that now, Do you know that? In a family there should be trust, there should be love and we should support each other... Kya tumne meri saath di?"

Suhani tucked the strands of her hair as she looked at him, "Everything is changed, I have changed... Shayad meri pyaar bhi."

Yuvraj said nothing, she hasn't changed, he could see that, he could feel that... the warmth was still there, the caring soft nature was still there, the bubbly and fun loving girl was still there but she wasn't nave anymore, the way she looked at life was different. And to be honest he was happy and also guilty, guilty because he knew that she had learnt it the hard way... solely because of him.

"Suhani..." he paused, "I will drop you home," he walked forward, stopped when he noticed that she wasn't following, he turned and looked at her, "chalo," he raised his eyebrows,

Suhani didn't say anything but sat in the car without giving away her disappointment, she expected him to... she stopped, what was she expecting anyway? She asked herself.

"Tell me the directions, I don't,"

"Turn right and go straight," Suhani interrupted him, "I need to buy few things in the bazaar and then meet a client,"

"Client?" he asked, "sorry... I shouldn't have, uh, I have no right... sorry," he apologized again,

"You made me a stranger in one minute na?" she snapped turning to her right and facing him with a frown,

"I didn't make you anything, you told me, that I have no right," he told her, he was about to turn,

"Look at the road when you are driving,"

They both stay quiet for few more minutes, trying to understand the situation,

"Stop here,"

"What's here? Where do you want to go? To the jungle?"

"Why do you care? Mein kahan bhi jaun," she snaps again,

"Look Suhani, I took you out of the city, let me drop you somewhere safe,"

"I know to take care of myself, I have learnt to at least do that!"

Yuvraj stops the car gets off and moves to her side and opens the door for her, Suhani takes her bag with a heavy heart, realizing that she wouldn't probably see him again any sooner, she holds back her tears with much difficulty as she keeps reprimanding herself inwardly.

Yuvraj moves aside letting her walk away, his ego not letting him look or say anything, he tried walking away too, his mind wanted to just race away, but his legs refused to move, he gave up on his futile effort and grabbed her arm tugging her towards him, she looked at him with tear pooled eyes, and he hugged her close to him, pressing her form against his, it took few minutes for her to reciprocate, somehow when finally she did he couldn't stop himself from drawing her closer.

"I missed you so much," he said as he inhaled her soft scent,

"I missed you too Yuvraj, bohot..."

"Toh... Don't go like this,"

She shakes her head but stays locked in his arms as he nuzzles her hair, she closes her eyes as his breath touches her neck, evoking a chain of goose bumps, he moves back an inch so that he could see her face,
