Dear Vijay,
Sorry for coming late. Great layout! It's looking awesome!
I have a few suggestions regarding the layout.
1) The user should be able to customize the portal, meaning that he/she can pick a few forums that she/he visits to be the home page. They can pick from the list of objects, portlets on what they want to see when they enter (After they log in). So you would be storing their preferences in the DB to be able to use.
2) Having multiple environments for thorough testing. I am pretty sure you have a dev/system test/user test/prod environments in place, but sometimes it feels like that things haven't been tested thoroughly before they are put in. It could also be due to lack of systems/money/programming resources. It's just a suggestion. I know that there may other variables involved.
3) I feel that the various browsers don't work properly, recently, I have been seeing scrunched up posts/replies, instead of the full layout. I see the posts in much narrower window.
4) The pictures are killers...they slow down the performance considerably.
5) Search on emails would be great
6) Sort on user ID, date would be useful in email.
7) On the editor, add a youtube embed icon...just like a link and a picture.
8) Some times, the editor, on the first attempt doesn't let you change the fonts, colors etc. You have to save the post and then edit it, in order to make certain functions work.
9) I would love to have table of contents ability for FF writers. Probably not easy to implement it, but may be useful.
10) For me, the popular posters / popular topics are too cluttersome. Instead you can have a link and have a dynamic report linked to the hyperlink. That way, you don't have to have the report running constantly, slowing down the resources. For people who want to see the report, they can do it still.
11) The WYSIWYG editor has many problems with cut and paste. It doesn't render the pages effectively.
12) I really don't understand the purpose of the outmail on the PMs, you can't do much with it, and it disappears when the receiver deletes the message. May be you can get rid of that button altogether.
13) Lately, there have been a case of multiple IDs that are being created. I know that many households use the same desktop/laptop and it deters the admin to really figure out who is genuine and who is not, I would suggest that you run your reports cross referencing users IDs with computer IP addresses and also with their sub domain/router addresses. This will weed out a lot of users from creating multiple IDs unnecessarily.
14) I don't really understand your polls, they are really such a waste. Especially the ones where you can vote from various sessions. It defeats the purpose of getting popular opinions. The best way to get rid of them is linking them to an IP address. No one can vote from one single IP multiple times. (regardless of the sessions)
15) One of my favorite modification would be to have sub folders within the forum. One for FFs would be nice, especially for people like me who are here on the forum to read them.
Hope these suggestions are reviewed and are useful...
