Frankly speaking, I'm not terribly fond of the way the 'like' button is being used, or rather, misused. Many members are hitting the like button right and left, up and down, every now and then without even reading the posts properly. Many members also show blatant biases when they 'like' a post for the simplest reason that the post had been sent by one of their friends, or gang-members. Instead of liking a post that is truly worthy of being liked, now posts that cater to the mentality of the majority of the audiences end up receiving over dozens of likes.
I think the true appreciation of ones post lies in replying to it in depth. Similarly, our opposition to a particular viewpoint should be measured in terms of how we countered his/her points and not how we just clicked the dislike button.
