Can we have a 'delete account' feature?

Can we have a "delete account" feature? which is permanent. Many of us are leaving IF or have left IF due to studies, personal reasons etc. I think a "delete account" feature would be useful.

Edit:

I forgot to mention, is it possible to have a search box in our friends list. It takes forever when searching for a friend. You have to search all the pages. It will be much easier, if there was a search box where you can type in the member's username and the friend appears. :)

as raised many times before the way the forum is structured this is not possible

however i think vijay n dev team are working on a deactivate feature

but apprecraite u bring this issue up

perhaps vijay n dev team can shed more light on what is happening abt this currently

Delete account is good but lot of people do leave but end up coming back atleast few times just check around.

But i think there should be rank as deactivated account, Maybe a colour or something which tells people that this person is no longer active and when they come back, they can re-activate and go back to their normal rank. 😃 I think that would be useful. 😛
